I hate leaving bad reviews- but buyers beware of ordering for shipping! We ordered a a pair of skis and UPS delivered it in a box that was completely crushed and split open. I could see the skis before even opening the package. Of course I wanted to return it as I don't even know the condition/ how compromised the skis were. I immediately sent photos with delivery timestamps and regardless of how UPS shipped it- the way the company handled it was so rude. The Director of Operations called me the next morning and did not apologize once. He was so condescending and said he already discussed this with me via email. The packaging was so compromised that I couldn't even reuse it to ship the skis back safely- he asked me why I can't you just tape up the sides and ship it back. I kept trying to explain that I was nervous to returned expensive equipment in a completely damaged box- I wanted to ensure I got a refund and prevent further damage to their afraid these expensive skis he didn't care- so condescending and rude - No accountability. No ownership. No solution. Just deflection and attitude. If this is how they handle a straightforward shipping issue, imagine how they handle real problems. Ski equipment isn't cheap, and customers deserve better than being told to fix the company's mistake with a roll of tape. I'm shipping it back as is and if it's damaged further it's not my problem. I will not be ordering from them again, and I will not be recommending them to friends or fellow skiers. There are plenty of other retailers who value their customers & their equipment. read more

Great helpful staff. Needed, or at least thought I needed, my fixed bindings remounted because I bought new boots elsewhere that were a size smaller than I'd been skiing on. Rather than just take my money, they actually said you know, we may be able to make these bindings work with the range of adjustment they have. Two staff tinkered with things for ten minutes before finally giving in to the need to remount them; I was just a few mm outside the range of adjustment that would have been safe. So, remount was paid for, a very reasonable price for pickup the next morning, and they even let me borrow a set of demo skis free of charge for the last 3.5 hours of the day, so it wouldn't be a complete loss while mine were being worked on. read more

I had the best experience renting ski's from this store and buying boots. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and let me know the boots I had been using for years were three sizes too big! My better half has has a high instep and his ski boots have not fit well for years. His boots were purchased at Viking ski shop in Chicago. He has had problems with him ever since he bought them. Blake and Chris the boot fitters at Base Mountain made adjustments to the foot beds and fixed his arch supports so they would no longer collapse. His boots now feel great. He highly recommends this ski shop as it has a great vibe. The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. He is planning on purchasing new boots during his next visit in 2015. read more

These guys are great. Very friendly, helpful and laid back. My daughter and I rented skis here while my better half and son brought their own skis. This place was nice enough to let them store their skis and boots there overnight. What a plus since we stayed down below in Avon which meant we didn't have to carry them back to and from the bus each day. Woo hoo!!! Boots were comfy and the skis for the kid were half off. One thing about this place is that the rental area is downstairs but the guys would carry our stuff upstairs each morning and help us with our stuff when we came back. Now that's service. read more

Although everything in Beaver Creek is expensive, I find myself coming back to Base Mountain Sports year after year. You might be able to find better rates if you drive further away from the village but my family has been renting from here for the past 10+ years because of the convenience and service. These guys are great. Myself and my two kids (ages 7 and 9) rented skis, boots and helmets from Base Mountain Sports over New Years week for 3 days (my husband has his own equipment). Here are some of the highlights: - Professionals that knew exactly what we needed. Sizing, type, length of skis, etc. - Understanding of family needs - They were always helping me with my kids, taking off their boots, putting on their ski boots, and storing their shoes. I didn't have to ask - they proactively and quickly saw what needed to be done, and stepped in. - Helpful storing equipment - As soon as I walked in at the end of the ski day to store all of our skis, there was always someone there upstairs or to help take the skis, poles, etc and fetch our boots back. - Great price. I went to Base Mountain Sports price check, and then walked to Christy's to check their price. I'm sure Christy's is great too, but Base Mountain sports was much cheaper for all three rentals. - Overall great group of people working there. If you want to know what good customer service is all about, go to Base Mountain Sports. If you read nothing more, know that if you go to Base Mountain Sports, you will get great customers service, fair prices, and an all around great experience. I've been skiing/snowboarding since I was 3 years old and been to mountains all across the country and have had salesmen that are knowledgable and some that are friendly, but never have I received the level of customer service that Colter and the rest of the staff at Base Mountain provide. They are simply the best i've encountered. Unfortunately during our trip while we went in for some apres ski beers, someone took the rental skis one of the people in our group. When we called Base Mountain to let them know the situation Colter picked up and was not only friendly but extremely accommodating. He let us know not to worry, the whole point of coming to Beaver Creek was to ski and he was going to make sure we got on the mountain to continue skiing. He told us to stop by in the am and if the Skis didn't turn up we'd sort something out. The next morning we went to Base Mountain and Colter was there bright and early with a huge smile. After listening to us explain the story once more ran out of the store to check with the bar to see if the skis and turned up and was back within a few minutes to informed us that he would keep checking with the bar and in the mean time would set us up with another set of skis. Simply put, Colter made sure we missed as little time on the mountain as possible at no extra cost. We checked in everyday for the rest of the trip to see if we needed to pay for the new rentals or if the skis had been returned. Each time we entered he would greet us by name and give us his update on whether the skis had turned up. One of the other people in our party got very ill while on the trip after and was bed ridden for 4 out of the 7 days were at Beaver Creek. He had purchased a 4 day rental from Base Mountain and only ended up skiing for 3. When we returned the skis, he mentioned the situation to Colter and without any hesitation the only question Colter asked was "Do you have your receipt?". He then gave my friend a full refund for day he didn't use. Beyond the amazing customer service, Colter was an extremely knowledgable about his products. While we chatted about what skis i should rent he listened to the way I liked to ski and which ones i thought I should rent and after listening to my thoughts he provided his opinions on what I should get. Never made we feel silly about what I knew and didn't know. When he was setting up my bindings he even took the time to explain what all the settings meant and took out a chart to show me how they know what to do with each binding. I've asked other ski techs the answer i would get is "so you pop out of your binding appropriately". Colter on the other hand took the time to explain the torsional stress that happens when you fall and why its important to adjust the settings based on level, height, and weight. These guys are the only mom & pop shop in Beaver Creek and deserve your business not because they're a small business, but because they are the best. Kind, knowledgable and there to make sure you have the best time not simply to make a buck. Go to Base Mountain Sports for all your rental needs, you don't be disappointed. read more

This place is awesome. I've been renting skis and poles from them for the past 4 years. They have the best rental rates in Beaver Creek, and they offer a 20% early bird discount if you make your reservation in November. Plus, they're super cool and friendly. The retail section has a fantastic buyer, so they fill their tiny store front with an amazing selection of sizes and brands in clothing and gear. I've bought everything here from ski jackets to long underwear to belts and gloves. Exceptional customer service, and they even helped fix boots that I didn't purchase there, but were killing me on the slopes. It's almost not even worth it to look anywhere else. And, they're one of the last mom and pops still standing. I hope they stick around forever. read more
