I am so incredibly grateful to have had Christy Yoo as my makeup artist for my wedding! As someone who doesn't know how to do makeup, is overwhelmed by it, and struggles to visualize inspiration photos on my own face, finding the right person was daunting. It was incredibly important to me to find an artist who understood how to enhance Asian features. She came highly recommended by my wedding planner and a friend, and her team seamlessly handles larger bridal parties. I had also seen her in action at a friend's wedding before mine. Even then, I remember being so impressed by how attentive, thoughtful, and kind she was, consistently going above and beyond to support the bride. Going into the process, I was really nervous because the most I ever do is curl my lashes and wear mascara. During the trial, Christy asked me if I had any concerns, and I was completely honest. Because I don't usually wear makeup, I was terrified that a bridal look would feel heavy and cakey. Christy was so reassuring. She looked at my skin and told me that I didn't need heavy full coverage, and instead gave me a gorgeous, soft-glam look with light-to-medium coverage. I appreciated this so much because her application felt completely comfortable all day. Even with the lighter coverage, I was honestly a bit thrown off right after the trial simply because I wasn't used to seeing any makeup on my face. On my drive to the shoot, I remember looking in the mirror and analyzing how my skin texture looked compared to when I don't wear makeup. Every little texture detail felt a bit more prominent to me at first, even though everyone else thought it looked amazing. But once the photo shoot started, my biggest struggle was remembering not to touch my face! My natural reflex was to scratch or brush away stray hairs that touched my face, and I caught myself doing it quite a few times. By the time the shoot was over, though, I realized I was getting used to leaving my face alone and seeing myself with makeup on. The texture didn't feel prominent anymore, and I could finally see what everyone else was seeing. I am so glad I did the trial for that reason, it completely normalized everything for me. By the time the wedding day arrived, I looked in the mirror and just thought it looked absolutely amazing! Since I never wear makeup, it was just an incredible feeling to look at all of our photos and genuinely feel so pretty. Our wedding day had a lot of moving parts and traveling. I had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony in the morning and a Western ceremony later. I had bought specific hair accessories for the tea ceremony that worked best with a bun, but since I don't love buns, I really wanted a half-up, half-down look for the Western ceremony. Christy happily changed my hairstyle between ceremonies so I could have both looks. She was so organized and made sure we had plenty of time for the change and touch-ups. I had also warned her ahead of time that I cry a lot, and I definitely teared up a ton, but despite the summer heat and the tears, absolutely nothing smudged all night. I booked her concierge package, which was worth every penny. We started incredibly early, and Christy stayed with us to make sure everything was perfect. Since our venue was on a rooftop, it was quite windy that day. Christy noticed that my veil's comb was a bit shallower than usual and was worried it might get blown away. Instead of leaving just because her contracted hours were up, she stayed extra time to ensure my veil was completely secure with extra bobby pins so it wouldn't slip during the ceremony. One of the best things I now know that we did for our wedding day in mid-March 2026 was hiring Christy Yoo Artistry and her team for hair and makeup! Christy is such an intuitive, creative hair and makeup artist and a true girl's girl/people-person. I met her in November 2025 for my hair and makeup trial and she was so friendly and kind. I really do not wear much makeup, if any at all on the daily, so sitting still for hair/makeup is usually very "tiring" to me. I had Christy for my bridal hair and makeup the groom's hair and makeup for both the engagement photos and my wedding day! She also did the hair and makeup for my best friend (Matron of Honor) and my sister. If you want to still look like yourself but an elevated, best possible version, Christy is the person to go to! Even when I didn't know the right terminology to describe what I wanted, she figured it out and let me have input the entire time. I booked Christy for my wedding day and am so glad that I did. I initially did a trial (half up half down) which Christy did an AMAZING job on, and I absolutely loved it. However it just wasn't the right style for my dress and Christy was more than willing to switch the style and I trusted her so much at that point that I didn't feel the need for another trial. She gave exactly what I wanted, beautiful bombshell curls-and my hair does not like to hold a curl, but she worked her magic and it looked amazing. Very professional and organized. Christy was nothing but amazing through and through. Wedding planning and just anything wedding related was so stressful to me, but she took what I liked (inspo pictures) and made them a reality. My bridesmaids all loved their hair (and her personality) too. Nothing but rave reviews. She's fun, spunky, kind, and very intuitive. We all loved that she was able to give confident input when we were hesitant on some of our decision points. Definitely shows her experience and professionalism. And going from trial to wedding day, I absolutely loved my trial and my engagement photos came out amazing, but my skin definitely changed between the time of the trial and the wedding day, so we were able to adjust accordingly with any notes I had from the full day of makeup from the trial. Booking her concierge service was also a huge plus since it gave my photographers the assurance that I would still look put together during my ceremony even if we took "getting ready" photos and bridal party photos in a slightly humid/windy environment. She was able to touch all of us up after we took pre-wedding photos running around like maniacs - but you would never know since we looked so put together during the ceremony. When shopping for a vendor for my hair and makeup on my big day, I wanted someone who could bring dimension to my black hair and be able to handle working with an asian americans complexion (especially after having subpar teials with other vendors who simply washed me out). Where do I even begin?!? I'll try to keep it short & sweet...which is almost impossible. When I first got in touch with Christy (October 2023) for her hair & makeup services, a few things I noticed about her was her bubbly spirit, nurturing & reassuring character, accessibility, and flexibility. As someone who is VERY indecisive, rarely wears makeup (outside of the occasional lipstick and mascara), gets overwhelmed by the amount of styles to choose from, AND lives in the east coast, Christy had her work cut out for her, but she never wavered!! From the get-go, Christy reassured me when I felt like I was already late to booking a vendor for my wedding (March 2024). She didn't focus on that aspect, but instead focused on moving forward with a game plan to get us on track. She had me send her a picture of my hair (to gauge color and length), dress, and hair & makeup styles I had saved that I was interested in. From the picture of my hair and dress alone, she sent over some ideas that she thought would suit me well and then guided me to what length and color of hair extensions to purchase (if I wanted to use them). Next came booking a bridal trial. Due to living out of state and personal circumstances surrounding work, I wasn't sure exactly what my schedule looked like and that's where Christy's accessibility & flexibility really shined. We were in constant open communication about our schedules in order to fit my needs, which I greatly appreciated! On top of that, my sister who has very sensitive skin was visiting from out-of-state and because she was planning to have her makeup done for the day of my wedding, Christy was very understandable and accommodating when we asked if she could test some sample products on her face. With the high quality products Christy invests in, there was no reaction and she felt comfortable getting her makeup done for my wedding. In fact, Christy wanted to personally do my sister's makeup just to be on the safe side and because she was already familiar with my sister's skin tone and complexion :) Finally, we reach the wedding day!! Christy showed up with her lovely assistant Summer, who worked on hair and makeup for my sisters. Just like the day of my trial, I think it was a bit apparent that I was nervous when it came to applying layers of makeup. Rather than focusing on each step of the way, Christy reminded me to "trust the process." At the end of all the styling, when everything was put together, I felt so beautiful. Seeing myself with just the hair & makeup alone made me truly feel like a bride and set things into place. A compliment I received over and over was how natural the makeup looked on me, which was exactly what I was going for. I wanted a soft glam with colors that would translate across the different gowns that I was going to wear throughout the day, especially because the gowns were different colors. If I haven't sold you just yet, let me reassure you that Christy & her team are the way to go. Not only were the compliments coming from our friends; they were also coming from my parents, aunts, and grandma!! Speaking from my experience growing up in an Asian household, family members can be very nitpick-y when it comes to looks so for them all to praise Christy and the makeup she did on me, I'll take it as a win!
