Pork tenderloin sandwich with onion rings
    Wade G.

Came here in the middle of a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. We had wings (teriyaki and mild), fries, onion rings and a pork tenderloin sandwich. Service was good. Ambiance was a comfortable pub feel and cleanliness was good. I haven't had any good wings in over a year, so I ordered them. Wings were big and meaty. Cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and a moist inside. Not overcooked. The sauces were also good. My wife got the pork tenderloin sandwich. We used to live in Iowa (which had fantastic tenderloin sandwiches). She had not had a really good tenderloin sandwich in the southeast until today. She said it was as good or better than Iowa sandwiches. A high praise indeed. We will return here again and recommend this place to our friends.

    Big Kahuna

Fun little (not really little) place! Staff was extremely personable and service was as great. A small miscommunication between our waitress and myself and she was super quick to rectify it. Price was great for portion sizes. Menu has lots of interesting choices. My husband got a hot dog that was huge covered in bacon queso and fries. He loved it! We will definitely be back next time we are in the area! Update We went back again tonight to watch the UT game and to try some craft beers and pizza. We tried the Big Kahuna (Hawaiian). Pizza was huge for the price and soooo good! Picture was of our leftovers. All I can say is I wish the UT game was half as good as the pizza!

    Burger 27

CPG - Christy's Pub Grub Sparta, Tennessee. Bluegrass, the Constitution, and great food! Cheese Curds with Caramel are surprisingly good! **Edit to say... the best burger in recent memory. I accidentally ordered the 1 lb burger ‍and it ended up being great! It's close to 2 inches thick and cooked to perfection. I wish their chef could give classes in how to cook a burger. Taylor was our waitress and she was awesome. Christy the owner visited our table and was a delight. The banjo and guitar were her fathers. I will be eating this burger again for dinner and maybe even lunch tomorrow.

I had the chicken wings. Outstanding. Other members of our group had various hot dog meals and all were excellent. Highly recommended.

The place smelled moldy and hamburger was overpriced and a coke was 3.75. I just can't recommend this place

It was fairly busy when I visited, and there was a line to get beer, which isn't a problem. I happen to see a friend of mine waiting in line to get a beer. I walked over to speak with him. We hadn't seen each other in probably five or six years. Another guy cut in line right in front of him before he could get his beer. Then, when it was my friends turn, the bartender (Josh) was less than friendly. I realize that they're just pouring beer, but the gentleman was decidedly unfriendly, he did not smile even once; he did not even indicate that he was ready to take an order in anyway by acknowledging us with a look or anything. Heck, he didn't even speak to us. Honestly, he was just rude & beyond unfriendly. I don't get it. If you do not like your job, get a new one. If you don't like pouring beer for people (which does seem like a super great job), get a different job. The fact that he would be there on what appeared to be a fairly busy night, which is good for the business, and be so unpleasant is beyond my comprehension. So, the beer selection is very eclectic, with something for everyone. It's super great that you can buy beer to go. The female bartender was awesome. I'm conflicted on what sort of review that I should give Admiral pub, because there were so many positive aspects to it, except Josh pretty much ruined the entire experience by his sour demeanor (although I adore sour beers) and persistent scowl.

There's plenty of parking nearby so you don't have to walk far. This neat beer bar reminds me of the crowler shops that you used to find around Atlanta, with around 30 taps containing about a thrid local beer, so you can sample several local breweries without visiting each one (they're mostly not too near each other so this is very convenient). The taproom "beertender" seemed to be fairly knowledgeable regarding the various offerings - there's also a convenient list highlighting the different beers with style notes. We sat at the bar and were able to bring in some food from the nearby restaurants (I grabbed some wings at the nearby Marthie Ann's which were excellent). To drink I tried Hoptown's own Orange Mango Wheat - a somewhat basic wheat beer with hings of sweet tangerine and mango - nothing special. I had a Maine Brewing "Lunch" with the wings which is always a winner - it's an exceptional New England IPA. Service was great - I can see myself hitting Ooltewah just to come by for a break in driving.

Immediately you notice how not so air conditioned it is. It's the second floor, heat rises. It's science, but if you're wondering why the restaurant is empty. Anywho. Also upon walking in you notice how empty it is. 6pm on a Wednesday maybe folks have better things to do, but it is a bar, you'd think there'd be some regulars for happy hour. I was not greeted by a host and walked to a seat. So I found a seat and sat for 5 minutes before walking to the restroom. Went back to my seat, peered through the kitchen window at the server to get her attention. She was nice enough. Didn't get her name, but she wasn't snarky or anything. I ordered a grilled chicken dinner. With mac'n cheese and okra. She went in the kitchen. 2 minutes later, the cook comes out and says they didn't thaw out any chicken for grilled chicken. So I went with the breaded chicken. It wasn't really an option on the menu, it's for chicken sandwiches, but it ended up being pretty nice. The fried okra was even quite fresh tasting. The mac' n cheese was probably from yesterday, microwaved and sprinkled with shredded cheese. Not great. I probably won't be back. I'm a truck driver just passing through. Taking a nap at the truck stop next door. Tip for the owners... maybe advertise a CDL discount. Goodnight!

At midday on a weekday (spring-2026), this warm-feeling comfortable pub was active but not crowded. Of course we had beer-battered fish & chips: tender sweet cod in a not-too-thick crunchy flavorful coating, with fresh greens, onions, and tomatoes. Served with piping-hot thin fries, hand-cut to give a variety of crispier vs. soft bites. You could get that as a small-plate, as a Po'Boy sandwich, or as a main. And we had a bowl of thick rich flavorful creamy chowder. Delicious, satisfying dishes. They had a nice selection of deep crusty savory pies, too. We loved their amazing range of single-malt whiskeys, including some like a smokey softly-fruity Port Askaig that we haven't seen elsewhere. We liked slowly sipping a strongly-peaty young Islay, like 10-year Laphroaig, and Boyd's also had plenty of smoother well-aged pours up and down the price-range. They also had a nice selection of crafts, ales, stouts, ciders, and several Scottish brews. We saw that they have live music almost every evening (not Mondays), with midday music Sat and Sun. Scottish, Irish, bluegrass, old-time, classic country, and more! Next time we have to fit that into our schedule. And fútball (soccer) of course!
