    Fish Taco a la Carte

We stopped into Chronic Tacos today for some fast casual Mexican food in the heart of Irvine. The service was friendly and efficient, in the midst of the bustling lunch rush. If you like a casual quick ambiance, there is outdoor seating only at this location. I ordered a fish taco and Chronic fries, with an horchata on the side. I got the green salsa which had a nice kick. This is a good place to stop by if you want something fresh and spicy. Enjoy!

This place is more of a quick service taco place. Similar to chipotle the food is sitting out and you choose your options. Lead was a little dry. For the kids meal and two taco. No inside seating so you are sitting outside next to the street and parking.

We live in Long Beach and go to the Lakewood chronic Taco almost every Friday. We ended up coming to this location and it blew away the Lakewood location. The guac was homemade (some of the best guac I have ever eaten), they weren't cheap on the beans and rice, and they were very nice. They greeted us as soon as we walked in. Gerardo is the one who helped us.

Got a carne asada burrito and side of chips to go, but I saw they had patio tables outdoors for people who want dine in, offering the perfect ambiance on a sunny day. In terms of food, the carne asada burrito was wrapped with flour tortilla and stuffed with white rice, refried beans, carne asada and some lettuce and tomatoes. The flour tortilla was really good, and tasted like it was freshly made (as opposed to the pre made ones with tons of preservatives). I was a bit disappointed with the stuffing inside, as the stuff inside was pretty flavorless (e.g. white rice was very plain, lettuce a bit soggy). The chips were decent, although the salsa Verde was a bit too spicy for my taste. Overall, still a decent option in Irvine during your lunch break, but nothing to write home about.

The worst customer service. This lady deserves to have a conversation with the manager owner.

The rest of the staff exception except for this one woman at the cash register. She was extremely rude, over Tramy, even though I pointed out, and refused to provide me with the jalapeños that I asked for. It's a small thing especially when you're paying over 10 bucks for a burrito.. I will say the rest of the staff was great and I could tell that they were looking at her for being so rude.

I use to come to chronic religiously in high school for lunch, especially on Tuesday. I decided to come back and give it a try today. The portions are huge. They definitely don't skimp on the toppings but they do on the protein... the carne asada was dry and tough, however the free guac made up for it. 3.5/5

Are your beans and rice vegetarian? Or are they cooked in lard or chicken stock?

Good morning. All our beans are vegan. No animal products are added. Our white lime rice is also vegan. However, our Spanish rice is made with chicken stock and/or chicken bouillon. Thank you!

Can I just order fries by themself without any toppings?

Of course you can! Come give them a try.

Do they have Taco Tuesday deal here?

Yes, they have pollo, carnitas, al pastor, or carne asada tacos for $2 each on Tuesdays.

They have plenty seating indoor and outdoor. We requested inside since it's been hot AF and us girlies we dressed up! We were not trying to melt while we ate. Drinks : drank it so fast I forgot to take a photo but the Tamarind Margarita is a MUST! Food: Chile verde 7/10 - was good but nothing crazy! Sauce is extra tangy. Mole poblano - 6/10 for the price I thought we would be getting more than one piece but that's our fault we didn't check other reviews of the pictures first. Although there was plenty mole on it, it was a bit dry. I'd pass on this next time. Steak fajitas - 9/10 - very juicy, tender and packed with flavor. I did wish they added more veggies to go along with it. Would definitely order again. Vibes: very poppin! Dim, good music , great for people watching! Even the restroom has an attendant like how you would see in the club restrooms. It's definitely a place to celebrate birthdays , anniversaries etc, so expect to pay $$$. Service : I saw some negative reviews about the service but we had a great experience. Staff was moving fast and even brought out some vanilla bean ice cream with 2 candles for the bday girls! Overall I would come again! Be sure to make a res in advance. Otherwise you gonna be huffin and puffin waiting as a walk in, and nobody likes to wait while they hungry!

Our anniversary dinner turned into one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've…read morehad--made even worse by management afterward. My wife and I had an 8:00 PM reservation at Javier's Irvine for our anniversary. We arrived around 7:45 PM and weren't seated until approximately 8:29 PM. After waiting that long, we were placed at a high-top/bar-style table rather than being offered a booth or traditional dining table. The music was extremely loud, the restaurant was very dark, and it took around 10 minutes just to receive water. Our server never introduced himself, barely explained the menu, made no recommendations, and provided very little of the hospitality I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. Our plates arrived hot, but the food itself was cold. My entrée was $52 and didn't include rice or beans. When I asked the server whether it came with either, he simply said "no" and walked away--no offer to add them, no explanation, nothing. Our bill was $204.73 before gratuity. I don't mind paying $200+ for dinner when the food, service, and experience justify it. This felt more like a $200 quick bite than an upscale anniversary dinner. What really changed my opinion of Javier's, however, was how my complaint was handled afterward. I contacted management and was eventually told that an "investigation" supposedly did not match the details of my complaint, yet no one would explain what specifically they believed was inaccurate. I then spoke by phone with Sylvia, a manager, hoping to discuss the situation professionally and understand their findings. Instead of trying to resolve the issue or even hear me out, the call ended with her hanging up on me. That's unacceptable customer service--especially from management. I wasn't looking for an argument. I wanted someone to listen to what happened during an anniversary dinner that cost us more than $200 and explain how their investigation reached its conclusion. Restaurants have bad nights. Food can come out cold. Reservations can run behind. A server can have an off night. But how management responds when a customer raises legitimate concerns tells you much more about a business. Unfortunately, the response from management was more disappointing than the dinner itself.
