I discovered Jay and his fantastic work on the internet while googling destination weddings. I…read morethought to myself, I wonder if anyone has ever been married in Antelope Canyon? I googled it and Jay's photos came up and I was immediately blown away. I thought, this is really cool BUT certainly there is no way I can afford to do something like this. I sent Jay an email asking for prices to different locations, expecting to not here back and if he reply, that it would be way out of my price range. To my surprise, Jay resounded back within a few hours. Even more surprising, it was right on the edge of my budget! I thought, Wow...what a great surprise this will be for my fiancé, she is going to love this! I wasted no time. I locked in the dates and location with Jay by putting down the deposit and then surprised my fiancé with the plan. To put it mildly, she was blown away when I told her, but she really didn't have an idea how cool it was until I showed her Jay's pics and explained our plans to fly into Arizona and pretend to be models. She cried. For the next few months it's all we talked about. (Honestly, we took the pics in late August and it's now late February and we still talk about it. It's that cool.) From the moment I told her, we both were extremely excited but also very nervous since neither of us are models or have any experience modeling. We are just your average couple. We wondered, will we look good? Will we look bad? All things that crossed our minds and more! Despite those concerns, we knew we wanted pictures of us in a beautiful but iconic location that would capture our special moment...our recent engagement! Fast forward to August 27, 2018, we flew into Phoenix, Arizona, where we rented our car then drove to Page, Arizona. We rented the dresses for my fiancé from Jay/Annie as we loved their options and I just rented my tux in Austin, Texas and traveled with it to Arizona. No issues! We stayed in a hotel next to where Jay and Annie were staying. We met up with them the next day and enjoyed talking to them about traveling and photography. Jay told us the plan for the photo shoot on the next day and after some conversation, we left to go enjoy the rest of our day and prepare for the shoot. QuickTip: Get lots of sleep! You will be shooting all day til dark. It's fun and worth it! The morning of the shoot went great, Annie did my fiancé's hair and make up, which was very nice and helpful! This is included. Annie is wonderful. Once ready, we hopped into their rental car and headed over to the tour agency. We joined the pre paid tour for Antelope Canyon, (you pay in advance through Jay) once we got to the location, we just followed Jay and Annie's instructions on what to do and when to do it. Pretty easy! Jay is very experienced at the locations we shot at and is very quick and methodical, as is Annie who will work with the dress and lighting as well as touch up the hair and makeup. I was amazed how good Jay is with his cameras and his ability to get you into the right poses for great images. Just trust him! During the shoot, we went to three locations, one of which I wasn't quite sure of...it was very windy, her hair and dress were blowing everywhere and I remember we both thought, this location is a complete bust and these photos are not going to be good. I told myself, over and over...."just trust Jay, certainly he knows what he's doing". But honestly, I was just expecting to choose all the photos from the two other locations. lol Wrong! When we got the first images back for the first review, I was blown away by how good the images at the 3rd location came out! Absolutely stunned! While the first two locations obviously had the beauty of Antelope Canyon and the beauty from Horseshoe Bend, the third location didn't have any of the iconic back drops, the scenery was still beautiful but it focused more on us and our chemistry. Which at the time, I didn't get. After seeing the photos, I got it and now these photos are some of my favorite. Like I said, trust Jay. It was awesome to have a mixture of posed images but also impromptu images that show us laughing and our personalities. Thank you Jay...you were right! You and Annie are a great team and are both great at what you do. For those considering Pre-wedding photos, go for it! Choose Jay Studios. You won't regret it! Make the investment in yourselves, once you are older you will have captured a great moment/time in your life that you will cherish forever. We are so happy to have found Jay Studio and to have had this experience. If you are thinking about hiring Jeremy as your photographer, DO NOT. I wish someone had told me…read morethis before we committed to him as our wedding photographer. Jeremy, by far, was the WORST part of my wedding experience. He is lazy, manipulative, rude, so so slow, and makes excuses for every little thing. He will also charge you extra left and right and will not deliver when he says he will. We recently JUST got the final pictures and videos, now almost a year after the wedding I know what he will do once he sees this review. He will make excuses just like he did every step of the way. But honestly, if I can stop one more bride from having a aggravating experience, I will be happy. Fast forward to the wedding day. I had texted him two days prior to the wedding to let him know that we would like him in our hotel room at 1:30pm so that he can take pictures of us getting ready. It was now almost 2pm, he was nowhere to be found, and I had my husband call him. He tells us that he's been sitting in the lobby and that we should've called him earlier. WHY would I need to call him when I told him two days prior to be there at 1:30pm with our hotel room number. I was busy getting ready, and I knew that was going to happen which is why I gave him instructions beforehand. He was obviously just late and instead of letting us know that he might be late or even apologize, he just brushed it off. He didn't even get any picture of my husband and the groomsmen getting ready. After the wedding it was time to take pictures with family and friends. Obviously we relied on him on where to stand for then pictures. Well it turns out ALL of those pictures have a bright circle from the sun. Most of the circles are on our faces. When we brought it up during the editing phase, he told us that it couldn't be removed and that that's just how it is. AND YOU COULDN'T TELL US US THIS WHILE WE WERE TAKING THE PICTURES?! He also chose a place that had guests and workers in the background of our photos. We thought he was editing them out, but he tells us after the fact that they can't be removed. Why didn't we take the pictures at a different location or angle? Mind you the entire time we were asking for the edits he was being defensive and telling us he disclosed all of this to us....well he didn't. We also didn't get any pictures with our wedding singer (even though we specifically hired him for the ceremony and reception) despite our request. It took us about 12 weeks to get the unedited pictures from the wedding.....which was a long time to wait. He shared like 5 pictures as "teasers" but it took him the full 12 weeks to upload the pictures into a file we can look at. NOT EVEN EDITED. So why did it take him that long just to upload? There were 4000+ pictures and he made it sound like we were getting ALL of the pictures as a favor. Well let me tell you that no one needs 4000+ pictures. Most of them were us with weird faces and some weird pictures that no one needed. Just an organized ~500 pictures would've been fine, but no. He uses the 4000+ pictures as an excuse that it took so long..... uploading 500 or 4000+ unedited pictures into a folder for us to view does not take that long. He then told us to pick our favorites to go into the Album, and those pictures would be edited. Well I don't even know what his idea of editing is because the final pictures still had graffiti and bird poop in the background. He told us those can't be edited out. OKAY SO WHY DID WE TAKE THE PICTURES THERE?! Also, every time he gave us a delivery date, it was not met. We always had to follow up and he would tell us "oh I sent it yesterday" .....well you didn't because neither of us got it. He always had something or someone to blame. When I pointed out his terrible customer service, he decided that he wasn't going to talk to me anymore. He sends a message to my husband saying he won't communicate with me anymore. EXCUSE ME I paid for the service. What kind of a business refuses to talk to his clients that paid him?! Because I was pointing out how frustrating it was to work with an arrogant, lying person? He is ridiculous. He was literally the worst part of the happiest day of our lives. If you are considering him, please for the life of me, don't. You will regret the choice. He told us that the wait is worth it for the pictures. Trust me, they are not. P.s. do you really want someone that says "I'm also happy to offer your husband a discount on his next wedding" to be your wedding photographer? Let's think about that one.
