My wife and I both really liked the food here. The prices are way beyond reasonable. Definitely visit if you're in the somerset area.

The Chuckwagon probably has the best food in Somerset. You can't go wrong with their catering.

This is hands down the best place in Somerset for lunch. Great daily specials and menu offers lots of fresh items. Servers are good too.

We were met by an upbeat and welcoming waitress who, you can tell, loves her job. She went over the menu and highlighted the specials. We went with the honey glazed chicken and grilled salmon. Both had baked potatoes, wife had brussel sprouts and I the asparagus. Everything had a wonderful flavor. If I had to nitpick about anything I would say both proteins were cooked one minute too long. However, I would order each of them again. Can't wait to take some family and friends to check them out!!

Best place to eat in Somerset!!!…read more We sat in the bar. Table seating. Service was excellent. A little loud, but it's a bar. For an appetizer we ordered the steamed mussels. Good portion but we noticed that they were a little salty. Guessing it was maybe they used a salted butter with the white wine. Good sized though. I'd do them again. Thursday is $2 off burger night. My wife got a bacon cheeseburger and it was excellent. Very big burger. Nicely sized tomatoes....not super thin. Had some size to them. Bun was good and didn't get soggy. Burger was not over seasoned and cooked perfectly to requested temperature. I got the highly recommended brisket grilled cheese. Way too salty. The brisket itself was salty and the cheddar cheese that they use is the liquid kind so that was highly salty as well. The salty was just overpowering unfortunately. I only ate half of it. I wouldn't do this one again. Fries were super. Coleslaw would've been better if it was cold. The waitress did take half off my grilled cheese which was very kind of her. We stay in Somerset quite often and have tried all of the different restaurants. The Oakhurst is BY FAR the best. Will definitely return.

I also had the mac and cheese both times not because it's amazing but because they lack veggie sides. They don't have green beans, collard greens, or corn. The mac and cheese tend to be sticky and dry from sitting in the heater box. Adding a little milk and reheating does it great justice. As far as the meats the chicken was my least favorite. That being said, I'm very critical of my chicken as it's my preferred protein. Most often it's dry and that's the case here, the seasoning seemed like an afterthought or maybe that's because of the dryness. Their brisket and pulled pork were both solid choices. The pulled pork is tender with a great bun if you get a sandwich and the brisket is hearty and smokey. There was no question as to lean or fatty so that's a Texas classic that was missed. Regardless it was still great as far as Pittsburgh vicinity BBQ. The atmosphere of this place is a bar that also has gambling and tables for the bbq joint. One time I visited they had live music outside. It seems like a great community gathering spot but I've only ever had takeout.

I ended up with the brisket which was decent but the meat and rice were cold so the flavor didn't really pop as much. There was one option for BBQ sauce, I wish there was more because I ended up not liking it. It was on the sweeter side. I'd recommend asking for it on the side rather than getting it scooped on the entire bowl. The brisket portion was super generous which I was impressed by but it was hard to eat because it was in super long strips and not in bite sized portions. The plastic fork and knife provided did their best but it was a struggle trying to navigate using them with the shape of the bowl. Skip the sides. The greens tasted canned. Cornbread was soggy on the bottom and hard on the top. Mac and cheese was okay but not amazing. The entire meal felt like a strange combination of store bought sides/toppings and home cooked things. If they focused on fresher ingredients I think it would be a game changer. The concept is cool but it wasn't fully actualized. The people were 5 stars though. Very friendly and kind. We got food relatively quickly. You can eat in the restaurant but most people got their food to go while we were there. I think if I had gotten a sandwich instead, I may have had a different experience. The rice bowl with brisket was my choice because it was a crowd favorite but it just may not be for me. Id suggest starting with a classic sandwich and crafting an opinion from that if you plan to try this spot.
