This place is a 10 out of 10 in my book. Great food and friendly staff. Definitely worth stopping.

I visit Em's Sub Shop at least once each time in Somerset, PA visiting family. My go to Sub is their Steak Sub, but this time I tried the Ultimate Sub and it was delicious. I'd much rather support a small business than a chain sub shop. They also sell homemade Gobs. Give them a try if you're ever in the area and looking for a local sub shop. BOOM!!!! read more

The bread that everyone raves about in these reviews was really nothing special. There was minimal meat on the sandwiches. The staff was polite. We ordered mostly Italians which consisted of 2 slices of ham and salami. An Italian usually has another variety of sandwich pepperoni or mortadella or another meat. Presentation was upside down the meat was on the top of the lettuce tomato onion cheese. It was rather dry as well needed more sauce. The ratio of bread to meat was off, the Sammy needs more meat for all that bread. read more

My husband and I drove hundreds of miles to Somerset so I could see where my family was originally from. The sub shop that I once visited was no longer there. My husband found Em's. He went inside to place our order while I waited outside with my service dog. The lady was extremely rude! She even complained about another woman putting an order in while my husband was there. Our order was completely messed up! I have Addison's disease and was needing some extra salt. I asked for pickles plus extra, of course paying for them. I got none. I asked for no dressing but was slathered in mayonnaise. My husband ended up with 6 pickles. He had asked for mayo on the side, but it came on my sandwich. Some people have health issues and need their food to reflect their orders ......... do better! read more

Unfortunately Em's quality is never consistent. A couple years back they were the best they've ever been but not so great on our most recent visits. On our last visit, the roll was awful (stale or not a good batch) and the lettuce was borderline rotting and was gross. read more

I'm new to the area and decided to try tonight and ordered takeout. Very disappointing. CheeseSteak had one piece of un chopped steak, one small piece of cheese and totally forgot peppers and onions. Italian sub was mostly ham and another half piece of cheese and they forgot red peppers. Jersey Mike's is opening down the road and they need to do better if they want to compete. read more

Em's in Somerset is hit or miss. If you get a steak sub-you have to specifically ask them to chop up the steak or they just put the steak as one solid piece. Never saw any sub place do this with a steak sub. Often the order taker doesn't pay close enough attention and you end up with white when you asked for wheat and tomatoes when you specifically say, "no tomatoes ". read more

I find it weird that a local chain sub shop has taken up shop in what was once an old Sunoco gas station. Why? Because the space outside for parking is drastically higher than what can be accommodated inside for seating. This place is just odd at best. Like it's still trying to figure out whether it's trying to be a sub shop or a convenience store. Look at the pictures, it's a very confusing setup. The food is a bit lackluster. I wasn't impressed that much. I order basically and Italian sub and was very underwhelmed. I will give them props because they make these fresh right down to slices their own meat. By the time I reached my seat after getting my drink my sub was delivered to me. It wasn't bad, but it was missing something, it tasted bland to me. Very friendly people and fast- I liked the rolls and the prices. It does what it should, by providing a fast cheap lunch in a clean atmosphere. The meats are sort of a cheaper cut, and somewhat limited amount on your sub. Especially on a larger roll. There's a place in town that uses boars head, but it was closed. I'd return to Em's but I won't make a special trip. It's just average fair on a big A bun. read more

Tasty subs, excellent bread, usually get the Italian supreme. Would like a bit more meat but these subs\hogies are very good.

I love going to this place for lunch. The food is delicious and made to order. The gobs and other sweets they have there are also delish! I prefer the chicken wrap or roast beef sub. I got the roast beef grinder. Quality of meat and bread are incredible. I didn't care much for the mayo, mustard, or cheese they used. I wish I could've gone back to try a few different things before I left. If I ever make it back to the area, I will definitely swing in for lunch. Ems is average, underwhelming, and overpriced. Their soups aren't great, the only thing that sets them apart from the rest of the restaurants around them are their paninies... I always get excited about their menu, but leave kind of disappointed. They have extremely friendly workers though. read more

It's hands down a million times better than Subway. The more inexpensive sandwich meats kinda remind me of a "cold cut combo" though. I think it's pretty solid, not going to rave about it, but it's a decent choice. read more

We really wanted a sandwich and a break from driving and saw this place on yelp had good reviews. When we first entered, it felt like we had returned to 1989 with the country home motif and centrally located lotto display. I approached the counter and said hi to the three middle-aged women behind it, but received no response from any of them. A different woman walked over and took our order, not rudely, but still lacked good hospitality. We ordered soup and a sandwich. The sandwich was fine, but the soup tasted like low-grade canned soup. Lastly, upon our exit, we observed the height scale by the door which only reinforced this place was more of a convenient store with mediocre service than a restaurant focused on its customers. read more
