1 star is missing simple because I would love a tastier mac & cheese as well as bbq sauce. Now for the yummy stuff: excellent hush puppies dipped in a great tartar sauce to start. My husband enjoyed the soup with loads of clams. Fried shrimp was enjoyed by my son, but the fish was not as good as my ribs! The ribs were perfectly cooked, crisp outside, super tender inside with a flavorful smoke ring. I tried to improve the bbq sauce with hot sauce, but it was Frank's Red Hot which has too much vinegar for my taste. The onion rings had a great coating on a thick tasty onion I dipped in a tasty ranch dressing. They just needed a bit longer in the fryer. The corn bread was sweet & moist. After checking into the worst AirBnB I've ever experienced care of "Maybel" I came over here looking for a good meal and alas failed at that endeavor as well. I'm not big on fried foods that often so I ordered the Captains Platter broiled. It was $41.49 and came with a crab cake, three shrimp, three scallops, a piece of unidentifiable fish and some steamed broccoli. It was absolutely not worth the price paid. The fish was practically inedible, awful flavor and texture. The shrimp were standard and the scallops were small. The crab cake really didn't have much crab in it. I wouldn't get it again. My second mistake was ordering steamed clams for $14.99...I doubt it was even half a pound. They tasted boiled. The bread that came with it was the best part of the meal and sopped up the juices pretty well. You get better clams from a Chinese buffet on a weekend where you get a meal for the same price as the clams. The salad I got with the platter was also pretty good, very standard. Hard to mess up a salad. The place is very tiny inside and not great for groups. We waited a couple hours to seat six people. It's decorated like an old Hooters and has that kind of feel. Service was 3 stars. It's super loud and noisy inside and she was trying to take our orders from across the table at the other end and I couldn't hear a word she said and she seemed offended when I asked her to come closer. Cute little spot and good service. And I ordered the Shrimp Platter, described as 12 jumbo shrimp, I requested broiled. Very disappointed, they were not jumbo, not broiled and totally bland. I come here about once a year and I always get the soft shell crab sandwich. The fried one is the best. It is so hard to find soft shell crabs where I live so this is always a treat for me. They make it nice and crispy on the outside and juicy inside. read more

We stopped here before making it to our hotel this past weekend. We arrived ~7:15 pm, and it took some time but eventually drink orders were taken. And shortly after the drinks arrived we ordered appetizers and dinner. Overall the restaurant was not very crowded 2-3 tables were seated before us and got their food in the time we waited for ours. Two additional tables came in subsequent to us and were both served dinner prior to us, one even finishing and leaving before we were served dinner. Staff even began cleaning for the night around 8:15 as they close at 9:00. While we had been served our appetizers, there was a significant wait between this and receiving dinner. We clearly were looking around, stunned, and I wondered if we would end up being rushed out. Luckily, food came out around 8:35. Even more lucky, we were starving and managed to finish our meals and pay in time for the staff to leave on time which was abundantly clear that they were eager to do. I only am critical of this as it was very clear that service and hospitality were low on the priority list. I get it, we may have arrived after the dinner rush, but nonetheless it was strange to wait so long and receive our food after tables who arrived after us did. The food was nothing special. We ordered crab dip and calamari. I wasn't impressed by the microwaved/clearly frozen taste of both items. The marinara for the calamari even was served in the plastic container it was clearly packaged and microwaved in. Seems odd to flaunt being a seafood restaurant (regardless of being a decent bit from the ocean) and not serve food free from freezer taste. Given the reviews I had higher expectations, and apparently that's on me. I had the grilled chicken sandwich, which is a pick your own toppings. The waitress seemed shocked when I inquired which toppings I had to choose from when none were listed on the menu. But I asked for lettuce, tomato, onion, and bacon. Overall it seemed fresh and flavorful. For the price, I did find it silly that fries would have come at an up charge. My boyfriend ordered the cheese steak which ended up being ground beef and more lettuce than meat. My first time. First I could not find the correct number. I wanted take out so I drove there to place the order. First I must say I interacted with different staff members and they were all pleasant and nice. Placed my order and watched. After 20 min. I watched something that totally turned me off from eating there again. Silver ware was not wrapped so servers were grabbing all utensils including fork end you use with bare hands. After having Covid once I certainly don't want to increase my chances again by improper handling of utensils. Foox was just okay. Chef is using way too much pepper in seasoning. Cream of Crab was awful. Had a fishy smell, heavily seasoned and too much pepper. Crab Cakes okay but again too much heat. I had a crab cake at Kocos Pub that made this look like a golf ball. I realize not all seafood restaurants are equal. Raised on the eastern shore I know my seafood. I will say the Fried fish dinner was very good. I think I would try some other seafood places before I go back. I can not comment on hard crabs but thought the prices were on point. We visited this restaurant after our train ride. The ambiance was okay but the outside seating area needs better conditions to keep the area cooler and to keep the flies away from the food. The customer service was terrible and I believe in my heart that waiter we had was racist towards us. We noticed how half of the people that were there was served before us and if we did not ask for our food it would have never been served and to my surprise the server was eating out fries out our tray but she did not notice we saw her. Always our "go to" when we have a hankering for crabs. It's a bit of a distance and out of the way, but it is always good. I'm not a huge fan of the cream of crab soup because it's to rich for me. But the last time I was there I tried their "mixture" of both soups. Cream of crab and Maryland crab. It was great! We also usually get the steamed shrimp and it is always good. Not a very big place, but they have plenty of seating inside and also some on the patio. Lovely area/location. The service is ok, it has been a bit slow on a few occasions. The only complaint I have is their phone system. We have always had a terrible time getting through to talk to someone. We travel a couple hours to get there and call ahead to make sure they have crabs and if so, what sizes and prices they are beforehand. Long way to travel if they don't have what you want. read more

The waitress made the extra effort to ask the chef if we could order off the dinner menu. Since they were not busy, it was oked. We ordered the broiled captain's platter with cottage cheese and sweet slaw. While waiting to sipped on our unsweetened iced tea. The unsweetened iced tea was fresh and non bitter. The platter came out in average time. Hey it's fresh food and boy did it taste like it. The scallops melted in my mouth with just enough seasoning. The shrimp were excellent. The haddock was a nice meaty filet. The crab cake had minimal filler and was a good size. The sweet slaw was homemade, fresh, and crispy. The cottage cheese was great too. I ordered an 8 oz cup of the Chesapeake Bay crab soup and it was good and larger than expected and very filling. I also ordered the soft shell crabs sauteed with garlic and onions. I got broccoli and french fries for my sides. The description said jumbo soft shell crabs and I inquired if they even had them this time of year. The waitress indicated they did and I figured, great. I usually prefer them deep-fried, but have been on a diet and staying away from fried food. Sauteed was okay, but not the same as a deep-fried delicious soft shell crab!! However, my gripe with the crabs was that they were super small, the two together may be made up a large. Very disappointing in the size for the price. If I had known they weren't going to be jumbo I probably would have gotten something else for my entree. I considered ordering dessert, but there wasn't anything I really wanted, so opted to pay my bill and walk off dinner. A good meal will be back when in the area, but will likely have MD steamed blue crabs if they are available at the right time of the year. Highly recommend! Came here for my birthday yesterday and left terribly disappointed. My mother and grandmother ordered fried shrimp and they brought out terribly over cooked broiled shrimp. We asked for them to be replaced only to be told that because of food waste the only option for remedy would be to put the already overcooked broiled shrimp into the frier, no breading. It was honestly insulting that that would even be offered as an option. I am never one to leave a business a negative review however this experience has definitely been an outlier for me.
