    Captain's Platter Broiled
    Dub H.

After checking into the worst AirBnB I've ever experienced care of "Maybel" I came over here looking for a good meal and alas failed at that endeavor as well. I'm not big on fried foods that often so I ordered the Captains Platter broiled. It was $41.49 and came with a crab cake, three shrimp, three scallops, a piece of unidentifiable fish and some steamed broccoli. It was absolutely not worth the price paid. The fish was practically inedible, awful flavor and texture. The shrimp were standard and the scallops were small. The crab cake really didn't have much crab in it. I wouldn't get it again. My second mistake was ordering steamed clams for $14.99...I doubt it was even half a pound. They tasted boiled. The bread that came with it was the best part of the meal and sopped up the juices pretty well. You get better clams from a Chinese buffet on a weekend where you get a meal for the same price as the clams. The salad I got with the platter was also pretty good, very standard. Hard to mess up a salad. The place is very tiny inside and not great for groups. We waited a couple hours to seat six people. It's decorated like an old Hooters and has that kind of feel. Service was 3 stars. It's super loud and noisy inside and she was trying to take our orders from across the table at the other end and I couldn't hear a word she said and she seemed offended when I asked her to come closer. Either talk louder or move closer, not sure what the problem is with that. Would not return again.

I come here about once a year and I always get the soft shell crab sandwich. The fried one is the best. It is so hard to find soft shell crabs where I live so this is always a treat for me. They make it nice and crispy on the outside and juicy inside.

Soft shell crab sandwich was yummy!

Good crabs. Great soup. Terrific service. Prices weren't too high. Zero complaints. Would definitely return.

I thought this place was decent! We wanted some lunch on our road trip back home. The inside was kind of dark so opted to sit outside. Was a bit busy but found a shade table when some people were leaving. The food took a bit but I enjoyed my soft shell crab sandwich. It's usually super pricey in other restaurants so I think the price was good for what I got! It's in a cute tourist area for Cumberland which I didn't even know existed. Definitely a cool place to check out.

Clams were good (very small, easy to overcook)

From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the mood perfectly--dim lighting, warm and inviting, with Sinatra Christmas tunes playing softly in the background. It felt charming and intimate, especially welcome given the extremely cold temperatures outside. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, checking on us regularly without ever feeling intrusive. The cocktails were excellent and did a great job warming us up, which was very much appreciated. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything we tried was rich and flavorful, with a standout Gorgonzola sauce that was truly delicious. The creamy burrata with pesto and balsamic was perfectly balanced, and the scallops were easily some of the most delicious we've had--cooked beautifully and full of flavor. Ristorante Ottaviani is such a comfortable, charming place to enjoy high-quality Italian food. A wonderful spot for a relaxing, special meal, and we're already looking forward to going back.

This place attracts everyone from the blue collar worker to the high roller, which I love. The ambiance here is a little odd. We were seated at a table that faced the bar AND the kitchen/bathrooms, so you could just see and hear the staff coming in and out of the kitchen. Not great. I wish this place was located somewhere different. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive (thanks, Lexi!). I had a glass of the Montepulciano and my husband had another wine; brachetto? I believe? Both were delicious, but the fact that EVERY wine is $13 is weird. We ordered the greens & beans but they were never delivered, at no fault of Lexi's, but the computer. No biggy. We were already just about to get our dinners! But would love to try them next time. I had the Abruzzo Salmon with asparagus and fingerling potatoes and it was very delicious. The salmon was just a hair overdone, but otherwise, highly recommend. My husband had the Americano pizza and it was outstanding. The only other comment is that for downtown Cumberland, the cocktail prices match that of Virginia Beach which is just outrageous. I wouldn't pay a dime over $10 for anything on the cocktail menu. Very vodka heavy and not appetizing. We would return for the pizza alone!

The place isn't fancy but it was clean and had a small town atmosphere. Families were there with their children and grandparents. The waitresses knew many of the customers by name. The menu has a variety of choices from hot/cold sandwiches to pasta, steaks, seafood, chicken, salad and soups. Everything we had was delicious. The buffalo dip appetizer was not too spicy and had a tangy flavor from the blue cheese in it. My Reuben was HUGE. I could only eat half of it. The crinkle fries were tasty and the homemade ranch dressing was perfect for dipping. My son got the chili and he and my husband couldn't stop talking about it. It was just the right amount to spice but a little sweet as well. My other son had the crabby chicken melt and it was smothered in crab dip and cheese. We usually avoid seafood when we aren't close to the water but we made an exception since it was MD and we weren't disappointed. I don't recall our server's name but she was super sweet, friendly and gave us updates periodically on our order. She was also quick to get our drinks refilled. We will definitely return if we are in the area again.
