I am sorry but after reading these reviews I just have to throw out my opinion.... I went to this little hole in the wall....... Now sometimes you can find a little hole in the wall that is diamond in the rough... NOT SO MUCH FOR THIS CHUCK WAGON. I personally like my food fresh when prepared... NOT FROZEN. When I ordered chicken bites for my girls they were prepared and handed to me, I looked in the bag and most of them were charred black. Completely burnt. I still took a bite of one that was less burnt giving this place the benefit of the doubt and OMG... The meat inside was dark, dry, almost bad to the point of un-edible.... The breading had no taste at all... I asked the young lady at the window how the chicken bites are prepared and she rudely offered me this information, all our food is frozen. Nothing is prepared here. I wanted a complete refund once I saw and tasted some of the other things I ordered I was disappointed with everything else as well. Instead of being civil she was so rude to me. I left thinking, how can someone actually run a business this way????? I am a business owner and I would never treat a customer rude.... Its just crazy.... If I really wanted to I could go home and throw in a frozen corn dog and actually spend a fraction of the price and never have to leave the comforts of my home, plus never have to deal with someone treating me badly.... Food was hot and fresh. The Chili was good. The folks behind the window quick and to the point. no idle chitchat. It's a long time favorite with locals and it will continue to be as such for a long time. but its not pretending to be a 5 star diner by any means. Would I eat here again? sure! Was not happy. We drove a long way mouth watering for their freeze drink but was told machine is broken. It was 100 degrees and craving for it. I was told by classmates it has gone downhill, no longer the Chuckwagon we remember during high school. When my husband (then boyfriend) lived in sanger we would eat there once every couple weeks. Dont go there expecting anything even close to healthy. The chili is the all meat no bean greasy kind. Stick with chili fries, hot dogs, frito boats and the fried mushrooms. Pretty much everything else you could buy in the frozen food section and make yourself. I wish they used chedder cheese but they use that super chemical tasting american cheese just FYI. Dont expect great service, they want you there and gone asap to get to the next person in line. read more

Ok, so I don't live in Fresno anymore, but I had to stop by to write this review. I grew up on Chuck Wagon. My family moved to Sanger from Michigan in the 60's, and thankfully so, or else I would have never had a chance to eat here. Ok, so now I live in LA and have tasted the chili dogs out here, but Chuck Wagon is still the best. The chili is very flavorful and tasty. The fries may be of the Ore Ida variety but they go perfectly with dipping in any errant chili that may try to escape from the dog. The fried mushrooms are perfectly cooked. Every time I come home, I stop by here. To change this place in any way would be bad news, it's part of the charm and the mythology of Chuck Wagon. read more

My boyfriend took me here for the first time and I was sceptic all of how it looked outside but the food was cooked fast, served warm, was Delicious and good prices. Only thing I didn't like was sitting outside with flies. Gross trying to swat them away from my food. Consistent and declious! This is the standard I hold all other chili to. My suggestion is the Clark Burger with chili or a simple chili dog. Another favorite is the Frito Pie (bag of fritos with some chili thrown inside!). But, be warned, it is very easy to OD on chili like I did last time. Don't make a rookie mistake and mix a Clark Burger with chili with a Frito Pie. Get a regular Clark Burger and Frito Pie... too much of a good thing can be bad. So first off I don't think I've ever eaten a chili dog that was better. It is soo good! We sometimes buy their chili by the cup and go home to put it on whatever we want. Lol. Food is great. I love the crinkle cut fries and their onion rings (although make sure you eat onion rings right away...one time I took them back home to Fresno and they weren't near as good as they are when we eat there..of course though duh right? Lol. ) my husband usually gets the chili cheeseburgers and I get the chili cheese dogs. I have tried a few shakes and I'm never disappointed.
