So much hype about the chili dogs. Nothing special. Over priced for what you get. To top it off, the chili tasted like it came from a can. The Chicago Dog has a huge piece of celery and well, doesn't love up to a Chicago dog. The least they could do is chop the celery. All this served up with a huge, free helping of rudeness. Finally got a chance to stop by and grab a hotdog from here. Overall very friendly and cool location. There are some tables and chairs for you to seat and eat. I ended up ordering the suicide dog. The toppings were good if you like crunchy chow mien and spicy sauce. Definitely something different and I liked it. I did also get a chili dog to go. Definitely very tasty and under $10 dollars you can get a hotdog and a drink. Only thing was I wish they would put like a street hotdog option like with bacon wrapped around it and peppers. Pretty damn good. I drove by this place since it was nearby my hotel and was immediately intrigued. All of a sudden, I was craving a chili dog. It was a quick stop through a drive-through, place your order, pay for your food and immediately my chili dog was ready. They basically only have hot dogs, but lots of options. They also have a few tables if you wanna eat it there. My chili dog, which I got just with chili and cheese was delicious and hit the spot. Craving satisfied. Huge hot dog fan here so I was pretty stoaked to see this was across the street from my hotel. Stopped by for lunch and grabbed a hot dog and it was good! Picked up a Chicago hot dog and the service was great. The gentlemen working the counter was very friendly and after take my order, the hot dog was out in about 3 minutes. The hot dog was packed with tomatoes, pickles, red onion, celery and celery salt. The bun and weenier were of great quality. Very tasty hot dog. Got a 7 up with the hot dog and it cost me $9 bucks out the door. If your in the area and craving a hot dog, keep this place in mind. It won't dissapoint. Finally knocked it off the list. A one-time stop for me? While the chili cheese was good, the chili needed a diaper as it was not thick enough to hold into the bun. You need a spoon, not a fork. It was tight on the cheese, barely a dusting and there were not enough onions on it. As we know, I never drink soda (couldn't pay me) so did not request one. The bag of cheap chips is the smallest produced. Calling it an once in weight would be generous... Because there is NO pricing on the menu board on other items, it clearly shows the different cans of soda and chips (without pricing), I had assumed they were included. I ordered the dog and a bag of chips, no soda. He said it was $9.00. The menu said $8.00. When I asked why it was a dollar more, he said because of the chips... I said, 'I thought it was included?' His reply, "That was 3 years ago." That's bit bogus that HE hasn't updated HIS menu! Sly and cheap, it was the principle that bugged me, not the money. Super sloppy meal. And while that's okay with me (Greg is NOT opposed to slop!), I can't imagine anyone eating that dog without their handy dandy gloves! Of course, I had them! A bleeping disaster waiting to happen, eating in a car would have been worse! As the tables were occupied, I ate on the lawn by the street in the shade standing up, arched over a bit as to not dump that bread diaper out on myself. lol Itch scratched, the element of excitement over the cc-dog was gone. Honestly, the h-dog urge is a semi-annual and next time I'll burn it off over at Costco. I walked up and told the owner that I have been wanting to come here for a while and he says "Well we have been here for 15 years, so you've had plenty of time." I told him that I was a slow burn. We both got a laugh. Hot dogs were incredible! Loved my sauerkraut dog and my son thought that the bacon dog was great. My wife asked me to bring home a Suicide Dog but I failed to see her request for less hot sauce. The owner said it was too spicy for him and she needed to wash her hands after eating it. While driving home, my eyes started to water from the spice from this hotdog. By the time I got home, my eyes were red and it looked like I had been crying. Told my wife it's because I missed her. What a treat! We drove 20 minutes to this wonderful little walk up hot dog place, and it was well worth it. They had covered seating outside only. The owner was a very pleasant man with a great personality. We had the Chili Dog and the Sauerkraut Dog. The chili dog was tasty with a little heat and the pineapple added a hint of sweetness. The guy warned me on how spicy it is and I honestly didn't think it was as spicy but I eat extremely hot salsa daily...who knows..my taste buds are fried. I've always experienced amazing customer service while purchasing hot dogs from Brown Bear. Today 07/31/24 I received horrible customer service from the male in glasses working register. I was very understanding, and informed the employee my order was wrong in the politest way possible!! The individual taking my order was extremely rude and was not willing to fix my order and gave it back to me and told me "whatever". I still ended up purchasing another hot dog and I will say WORST customer service I've ever experienced! I'm more than willing to go back. I went to Brown Bear's Hot Dog Stand to pick up a couple of hot dogs. The hotdog stand is near Herndon and Fresno streets. The owner who took my order was so friendly and easy to talk to. The menu was very extensive with many choices. It is a drive through that is very convenient. It took me a while to pick two hotdogs. I chose a Chicago Hotdog for my husband. I picked the regular hot dog with relish, onions and mustard. I usually don't eat hot dogs so it was hard to pick one. The Chicago Hot Dog ($7.00) came with mustard, slices of tomato, relish, onion and little yellow chilies on top. It looked beautiful but tasted even better. My regular hotdog ($6.00) came with mustard, red onion, and relish. The actual hotdog was delicious. I ate the whole thing! Brown Bear made a believer of me. I can't wait to go back! Yum! read more
