John, the owner took time to chat and Maia, the employee who took care of us was right on point with all she did showing a happy spirit throughout. Dos Okies is like a trip to the past, giving a feeling of times gone by where fast food did not dominate and local people to serve you. The food here is amazing! Ive lived here for 2 years and never ate here before and today decided to give it a try. Ordered the BBQ boneless wings with fries and my boyfriend got the single patty cheeseburger with tater tots. Food was a 10/10 and came out super fast and fresh! These wings were some of the best wings I've ever had!! My boyfriend absolutely loved his food too, and couldn't stop talking about their tater tots! Their service was amazing too and the staff were so friendly, and the restaurant is so nicely decorated and clean. This small town family run restaurant is a must have when visiting the small town of Caruthers. It's easy to spot with its beachy decor and it small in size but the flavor it racks up is mighty. Going to see family this weekend and stumbled on this gem in Caruthers, CA. This little shack is one of the cutest little family owned and operated burger barns I've ever seen. You can order in the front building and sit their to wait for your order, or you have the option to go to another little dining room in a separate building behind the first. Not to mention the FOOD. First thing that caught my eye was the Churro Shake... ughhhh I'm drooling just thinking about it. So good. I had their tri tip sandwich and WOW. I'm surprised I ate the whole thing but it was too good to stop eating. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good food in central California. When I come to visit my mother I make a point to drive the extra distance to have a lunch at Dos Okies! Almost everything is handmade , their fried chicken and chicken tenders are hand cut dipped in Their own very flavorful batter and cooked to hot juicy goodness. Burgers are hand formed and have great seasoning. Have been there at least 10 times and they never disappoint!!! The name of this place perfectly reflects the town of Caruthers. Cause if you live here, you're either an old country boy, or Hispanic. The food is a welcome relief from all the Mexican restaurants that line the main street. I was pretty open minded about where I would eat today, but a buddy suggested "that burger place." This prompted a number of questions in my mind, because most people in Fresno have never heard of Caruthers, let alone been there. But evidently, Dos Okies has made a name for itself, all the way to Riverdale. Sounds promising. The place itself is tiny, and the AC, if they have one, isn't up to the challenge. They have seating out back too, but sadly, no restroom, so plan accordingly. The menu is mainly burgers and dogs, but the side options are vast. As are the ice cream options. Side note, they serve breakfast on Saturdays only, if you're interested. I got the Avocado Burger, which was a good choice. I couldn't help but wonder what the women across from me got from the way they raved about it. I normally get the avocado burger but I wanted to try something different. I ordered the philly tri tip and it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend, you can tell the man behind the grill knows what he's doing and makes his food with love, haha. This out of the way burger joint is great. They have some of the best food there is and the staff are just great down to earth people. Everything on the menu is good but I say go with a burger and you won't regret it. We sat out back on the cover patio area and enjoyed the day with some goid food and conversation. We found a cockroach inside our hamburger and it was alive! We should have known better than not to purchase from this place when we saw the man who cooks the burgers grab money from his pocket to give to the cashier and NOT WASH HIS HANDS before handling the food again. I am beyond disgusted and will be reporting this for the sake of any future customers that they have. Although the guy did refund our money it is unfair that anyone else pays for unsanitary food. Great little hidden gem off the 41 freeway! Your classic hole-in-the-wall burger joint with exceptional food and good customer service.
