Never send someone else to get the price he offers over the phone! I called ahead and got a price…read moreon used tires. His price was good, or so I thought. Send someone to get the tires while I was at work. Found out after the fact he charged them double what he quoted over the phone. When they asked about it, he said "Those must have been older tires" (he told me he only had the tires we bought in that size. what older tires?) when I asked myself, he said "I never said that" To be fair the tires are at least as good as any I've seen and his final price was only slightly higher than average. Also, he did say that, due to the "misunderstanding," if I took the tires of the car and brought them back he'd give a refund. The problem is here's already lied to me at least twice. Do I invest in new tires elsewhere and trust he will really give the refund? I find it more likely he'll say "I never agreed to that." Luckily they are decent tires because I'm stuck with them for double what was quoted.

When they quoted me a moderate sized repair that I needed a few months to get the cash ready, when I came back a few months later and prices were up they made a couple minor adjustments to the total to close the gap with the original quote. They replaced some belts at a separate visit and when I had some noises start a few months later they tweaked it under warranty same day with no hesitations. They've got my business for anything tire and any moderate level car work from here on out.
