Wow!! There is so much history in this fun place!! I met Trinity who was so knowledgeable about the place- she is his foster daughter and I'm glad I asked her to tell me about the place! She explained some of the pieces of equipment/furniture in there that dated way way back. Chuck is even the 3rd cousin to Charles Schultz -hence the Dr Seuss items! Brough at friend here today after lunch at Fizzy Jane's. I had the same as last time, moose tracks and salted caramel. My friend really wanted bubble gum ice cream but the gal said they no longer make it, but they get lots of requests for it. Chuck came out and said he just happened to make some. My friend was ecstatic! Told us come back in 20 mins when urs softened done. She got a quart she was so happy. I'm not a fan of it usually but tasted it and it was really really good. I am proud to say they last me several days- I snagged some delightful fruit truffles and -a personal fav- dark chocolate covered orange peels! Don't get me wrong, the ice cream is great! However, I got a scoop of ice cream in a cup while my sister got a scoop of ice cream in a cake cone. The portion size of my ice cream in a cup was way less than half or hardly even a scoop, while my sister had at least clearly 2 scoops of ice cream in her cone. Meanwhile, they charged us the exact same price. So my recommendation is to always get a cone. It also doesn't help that the lady helping us was not friendly and had zero personality. read more

Knowing that Chucks was voted best ice cream in the Brunswick area, we decided to try it out. Both service and ice cream were disappointing. Servers were confused and had to make several tries to get our soft serve orders right. Soft serve ice cream was not creamy and fresh. GO TO SPIKES!!! So much better!! read more

Decided to stop after a drive through Southport, it is tucked away in a strip mall. All the ice cream is homemade , not far from this store. The ice cream list is diverse with some interesting flavors and several seasonal flavors too. It can come in a cup, cone, waffle bowl or cone, and they have sundaes too. I opted for a small cup, I got two flavors; chocolate peanut butter and vanilla snickers. Both were good, but I felt I was missing the peanut butter in the chocolate peanut butter, the vanilla snickers was good , nice combination. The other cup was chocolate overload and almond joy. The chocolate overload was wonderful, very chocolaty , and the almond joy very tasty. They even ask what flavor you would like on the bottom. The walls are covered with shaped cake molds , yes they do make ice cream cakes. The ice cream was creamy and delicious, a perfect stop on a hot summer day. read more

Prepare to be underwhelmned. Having been in the food industry, I know that the Goldn Rule of food service is to give a decent portion regardless of how much you charge for your product. Sadly, it doesn't appear that Chuck got the message. We odered double scoops and I swear they were about the size of two heaping tablespoons. Chuck, providing a decent portion would probably cost you an extre dime per scoop. Just to update on this. The owner Deb has reached out to me numerous times to discuss this. I already explained myself to her many times. I choose not to drive 45 minutes one way to discuss this matter with herin person as per her request. I still stand behind my original post. As she states they give you 2.5 scoops for a large sundae. The large sundae size my husband received was LESS the a cup of ice cream. I do know and understand that they make their ice cream and I do understand and I am capable of paying for it. the size of the scoops my husband was given was equivalent to a tablespoon. Disappointing experience. My family, including 2 sons and my mother stopped in on our way home. I ordered a small scoop of chocolate peanut butter. #1- the small is tiny and served in what looked like the plastic top of a to-go cup. So I upgraded to a medium. #2- there was no, zero, zilch peanut butter. It was basically chocolate. Not bad, but not what I wanted. My boys got shakes and my oldest said it was the worst malt he'd ever had with pieces of the mix floating around. The worst part was that there are 2 options for shakes, soft and hard ice cream. Obviously the soft ice cream is less expensive but apparently you have to request this option. It wasn't explained to us so we were charged the more expensive price without being given a choice. For two shakes and two medium ice creams it came to over $23. We will not return. read more

Wanted ice cream after a dinner in Southport. This place was perfect! Excellent homemade ice cream, not one of those local places that just serves Hershey's. Everything we sampled was good: Almond Joy, peach, and a crazy rich chocolatey chocolate explosion. Ended up with my fave, cookie dough. They'll make any flavor into a shake or malt or sundae (tho the hot fudge was lame). They have other desserts too. Small sitting area with a TV inside and tables outside that look straight from your elementary school cafeteria. Would definitely go back! read more

Oddly, there's a significant lack of ice cream places with indoor seating in the area of Southport and this place had some, so we stopped. I'm not sure if it's newly established, but the owners seemed to be making refinements to the decor; side note, given other reviews: they were perfectly polite. The place is still a little sterile (not the "olde fashioned parlor" feel, and the restroom was very very dark, but...they could charge more given the area ($3.50 for a regular and $2.00 for a kids size), the product was tasty, and it was a comfortable place to chill for a little while. read more
