I do love the store! I found some supplements I needed for allergies and they were a great help with showing me the ones I needed. Great organic food and gluten free dairy free choices! Perfect for food allergy options! I haven't tried their coffee/food yet but I got a healthy juice that was fresh pressed in a glass jar and that one was fantastic! Finally, I have literally been looking for a store like this. I am so happy I finally found it. I looked around the store for a while to see what products they carried.I was looking for a particular item and brand, they didn't have the brand I was looking for BUT they had an alternative; after doing a little research on the product I ended up purchasing it. There was a kind young lady inside the store that was able to help me and answer all the questions I had. I had a great experience, their product selection is great and the customer service was good. I've been forced into a more healthy lifestyle this year. Yes, forced. I was turned on to some new 100% organic multivitamins. Yes, 100% organic! They are not sold in just any place and I'll be honest - this was the only reason why I came to this store...because Chuck's has 'em! And they are not cheap. But when you can save 20% on their Super Tuesdays, it's worth the drive to get 'em. I had read some dreadful reviews, but I have to say, even though I did not require any assistance, I knew what I needed and just walked through the store, found it and got in line to check out. The staff greeted me and when I was checking out, they were quite nice when I was expecting something very different. So, I was pleasantly surprised and will be more than happy to return to get some of more healthy requirements. I perused through some of the other aisles and found quite a few interesting things. I did notice the bulk nuts prices were high. I know people complain a lot about the pricing so I would shop around for bulk nuts in other places, but the sale (red tag) items and the Super Tuesday discount really makes some of these products reasonable and even cheaper than some other places. Overall, the store is clean, the little cafe on the left side looked like it might be interesting, but I didn't try anything there this time around. I would expect that one day when everyone becomes more healthy and healthy products are the norm and not some obscure trend, pricing in all health food stores will go down - healthy competition will correct that problem. You'd think since things are less refined and take less/no chemicals, etc - it should cost less to prepare to sell. So, once people all finally get it through their heads that this is the way it "should" be, things will level out. Because the other products will hopefully soon be recognized by all that foods in boxes, bags and cans kill. Now, how many years this will take, who knows. But, the movement is here! Spend a little more now and feel good and you'll spend less on healthcare and hospital bills. read more

Dropped in yesterday while in the area. Great selection with surprisingly reasonable prices. I know most small natural stores like this have a huge markup compared to big chains but Chuck's prices match them and in many cases, were lower. Great selection of vegan items including wine which is sooo hard to find. They have products from Beyond Meats, Miyoko's, Daiya, AND the vegan chicken bouillon from Better Than Bouillon. They also have a cafe with a lot of options, including Veganaise! I love a bargain and prefer stores who mark down their goods that are about to expire. I got a lot of great deals here because of this. $2 each for an almond milk and a half/half that's usually $5 each. Local millet and flax bread rolls for $2. The staff was great. Helpful without stalking you. Robin was very accommodating and a pleasure to meet. I'm not sure the older man's name but every store needs one of him. I honestly find it annoying when people sing to themselves in a store (I know, I'm a monster) but this guy and his singing made me smile. Skip Whole Foods and try this place instead. read more

All in all - I am not a fan and let me tell you why: Service: horrible. HORRIBLE. the people who work at the store have NO idea what they are selling in regards to homeopathic products and natural eats. I've seen other people ask them questions and they are clueless and shouldn't be working there nor selling items they have not enough knowledge to teach others about. Also, when asking to order a case of something, it took 3 of them to tell me it wasn't worth my time or money and just to buy separate items...what?? Prices: EXTREMELY high! A box of gluten free cereal for $9?! I understand that items like these are few and far between or are specialty items but there is a fine line between a bit higher than normal and highway robbery. Store: Not very clean. It's like this place hasn't changed since about 1985 - the flooring, decor, shelving is all old. While I still shop here, it's only because there are no other stores in my local Brandon area that carry some of the items I happen to buy at Chucks. I don't even know if I want to come back though to be honest. I have been looking for more gluten-free food items and kombucha, but have only found them here. I actually want to start making my own kombucha to save myself the hassle. read more

Great place to get things in bulk, organic produce, vegan and vegetarian meat and dairy alternatives. There's a healthy mini buffet that's fresh and delicious and a juice bar- all with seating area. The juices and smoothies are good but not all fresh as I saw my mango smoothie done with concentrate from a commercial juice bottle, which made it very annoyingly sweet. They use a ton of plastic for everything and not a very good recycling system or interest in alternative non-plastic containers. I would have to say this is one of the first organic natural guru places in Brandon. It's right on the corner of Kings and Hwy 60. If you are looking for a modern updated store that is pleasing to the eye like the new ones this is not it. This is the place where you find variety and staff members that have been around for years with knowledge. Really, I prefer knowledge over a hip looking store. You can come here with a cold and they will lead you to the right supplements. The cafe is a made to order and has a variety of sandwiches, soups, deli dishes, and shakes along with natural juices. If you are rushed. Don't be. This is made to order. Michelle at the cafe is pleasant and friendly. Refreshing from old employees in the past. They have a small produce section but big enough for this local gal. Along with a freezer section with gf items and large grocery area. Not huge, but big enough for a small town. Today, I had the acai berry shake and it's delicious. Made with whey, blueberries, rice milk and acai. I would give it a 5 star rating to see some updates to the store and add more to the cafe. I was really disappointed with my visit to Chuck's today. I've been going for years and for the first time an employee chose to interrogate me about my personal business as I was checking out. She was confrontational and I felt attacked. I've never been treated so disrespectfully at this establishment before and it's disappointing that an employee would feel comfortable being so rude to a customer. They are well stocked with diff choices, and asking for help was absolutely necessary. Or U would have wasted time I was able to choose best proven brands and have already noticed health benefits. I'm not giving any stars to this business. I have been trying for 2 weeks to stop a shipment of CBD gummies that I didn't order and to get my money returned. I am not a customer of theirs but they seem to think I am. I just want my $199.98 plus the $17 from the overdraft fee that I was charged. I will gladly return the unopened product if they will ship me a return label. I came home today to find that there's another package of their product on my front porch that I didn't order. The owner will NOT return my calls and it's really making me mad. If you think about ordering something from this store think again. I've been here now 3 times, REALLY wanted to like and find a great "natural/health foods" store that was worthy of my continued patronage. Chuck's is NOT it. The place is in need of a bit of TLC, updating and cleaning first off... but I can look past that "IF" everything else is great... I've found prices to be OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH... Organic apple juice, 9.99 a jug, same size, and type (different brand) that Costco had for 4.99... Back to Basics dog food, WAS 36.00 a few months ago, and NOW, 47.00... WHAT?!? Yes, I had a $5 coupon, but I left, and went to Harold's Feed (in Brandon/Dover) and found it for $37.00 with a DOUBLE coupon event, for $27.00... I almost spent $15 MORE... Sadly, the proverbial "nail in their coffin" is the staff/employees... they could HONESTLY care less what the hell you are doing there, never acknowledge your presence, never say... can I help you find something, or are you finding everything OK... and the last 2 times, I've left empty handed... never even a "thanks, come again" or a blink of the eye... they are ALWAYS, sorting merchandise, pricing, repricing, everything but HELPING the customer. In this climate of uncertain economic standings, we CHOOSE where we want to spend our hard earned, "disposable" income... and Chuck's has made it very clear to me that I will NOT be spending a single dime of it with them! I'm truly upset that I have in the past! I know you want to be upset that it's expensive and it doesn't even resemble Whole Foods, but we've gotta be honest with ourselves....it's what we've got! I'm grateful Chuck's is there, because for Brandonites trying to uphold the organic lifestyle, it's Chuck's or a patchwork of Publix Greenwise sections, calling local produce stands to assess their treatment of crops and workers, close scrutinizing of menus, etc. The customer service can vary, but typically I run into very positive people there. The second Tuesday of every month is a big sale day in the store (I believe 20% off of almost everything), so mark your calendars! read more

Chuck's is simply convenient! My experience at Chuck's is nothing to write home about: The staff is generally nice and helpful. The store is generally clean. General, meaning nothing special. I always try to find what I'm looking for on my own, but the set up of this store is slightly confusing and not laid out very well (especially in the Vitamins/Supplements department). So do yourself a favor and ask the staff to help you get what you're after and save yourself some time! I'm not a fan of their produce/perishable items. Personally, you won't catch me in there doing my grocery shopping. I've perused their items and really wasn't that impressed. They don't hold a candle to Whole Foods or Fresh Market when it comes to freshness or selection. The merchandise is pricey, but again, it's that convenience factor (for all my Brandon folk). If you are looking to catch a better deal and save some bucks, on the 1st Tuesday of every month, almost everything in the shop is 20% off. I have yet to make it there on these glorious Tuesdays, but it will definitely help bring your cost down if this is your spot to shop! My trips to Chuck's are usually to get my vitamins, supplements, and dog's food. Everytime I'm there I always look around for something new, healthy, and/or fun, but always end up at the register with only my sought after goods, which really isn't like me. :) To sum it up in a nut shell, not a bad place - but convenience is key! I don't know if this place is under new management or what but boy have they made a huge turnaround. The staff has changed. Now Chuck's is one amazing organic gem in Brandon. Before the customer service here was awful but the new staff is fantastic. They're pleasant, helpful, funny and much more personable. I stop wasting my time going from store to store trying to find speciality items when everything thing I need Chucks has. They offer a much larger selection than local competitors with reasonable prices. Everyone knows eating healthy isn't cheap so I've just accepted it and moved on. For instance, I bought a Ginseng UP pineapple soda; shame on me for not looking at the label. I'm from out of town on business. Checked Yelp under "Vegan" and Chucks popped up. Called in to see if they served vegan in the café and the lady that "runs" the cafe was ridiculously rude and then asked me if "that answers your question". Yeah, it did...and my answer to you, lady, is "You just lost a customer who has a large food allowance via work and will never step in your store". People amaze me on how ignorant they are...especially during times like this when small businesses need all the help they can receive from customers. read more

How is this place still open? Customer service is atrocious and you barely even get acknowledged at checkout, but had no problem checking her phone. Workers were standing around chatting gossip right in an isle blocking it completely, saw me with my child and didn't even consider moving. I went around them to the other side, they saw me again and continued their conversation and kept blocking the isle. Products are dwindling and extremely over priced. So disappointed. "Sinn" the worker was informative, helpful, and cost-conscious. Sinn is a hippie little guy who drives the yellow VW van and he sports a salt-and-pepper ponytail. :) I appreciate the perks of paying cash versus credit card...also there's a frequent shopper-type card available at the cash register/checkout counter...the more you spend, the more holes get punched into your card. The facility is large and it also includes a pet section, beverage/smoothie section, and a mattress/sleeping section all in one storefront. I also like that it is open longer hours than the other health food store. Their prices are comparable to the other health food store in Brandon. read more

Fresh, organic fed eggs, fresh produce gathered from local farms without pesticides, organic meat, frozen good, supplements, teas and much more. Chuck's really does have potential. I always like to shop local so thought I would give it a try tonight. They really do have a lot to offer in there. I went to the cafe tonight so that's where the two stars comes from. Service was terrible. I understand the food is made to order. I expect to wait and don't mind waiting. But the two girls behind the counter were literally slower than snails. I was acknowledged after about 5 minutes (customer was ahead of me) and ordered my sandwich. I had a question about the price when I was paying and the girl goes "where do you see that price?" Struck me as a little rude, but no big deal. Then she goes to help the customer behind me and he says he needs a minute to look over the menu. She says, "Well we close in 5 minutes so....". Really? That's how you treat a customer and convince them to give you business in the future? I am not surprised by the lack of customer service at Chuck's, unfortunately. I read the reviews before stopping by. However, my sandwich was really good and the chips were too. I got an egg salad wrap with lots of veggies. Tasted super fresh and I thought it was a fair price (7.50). Maybe I will be back... it's a shame the girl behind the counter was so miserable. Who interviewed her? During my run this morning, I carefully plotted my day. 1) gym 2) bank 3) Chuck's 4) clean 5) Texas v UCLA game Etc etc Somewhere during item 1) gym, I dreamed about an ice, cold carrot-apple-ginger juice. I pulled into Chuck's at 9:50am ready to indulge only to find a sign that said the cafe was closed. Really? At 9:50am? (please see my previous review about how their juice bar hours suck!) Okay then. I inquired, "what time do y'all open?". The gentleman told me 10, but the girl at the register said Jennifer, the cafe worker, called and wouldn't be there till 10:10. I gave up on my juice not wanted to wait around, but as I was checking out, Jennifer arrived. I ask the checkout girl if I could go order my juice, and she said sure. (see previous comment about how you have to pay for your juice before you can get it. Suck-o.) Jennifer is putting her stuff away and then walks away from the counter. I merely inquired, "can I order a juice?" to which Jennifer responds with the nastiest attitude, "I just got here. We opened 30 seconds ago, and Of course you can order your juice,but don't you see we are closed. Etc etc" Another patron is standing there and gives me a WTF look. But then Jennifer keeps running her mouth go me... And keeps at it... Hold on. YOU are late to work. It's 10:05 by the way. And you and giving me attitude for asking for a juice?!? This pissed me off. I frequent health food stores often. I travel for work, and I consider visiting them like visiting a tourist attraction. I get that jazzed up about healthy food and friendly people. I support local HFS because normally the workers are friendly, knowledgeable, and down to earth. My dad once commented about one of my visits to Whole Foods while waiting for me in the car... everyone is so happy in there. That is why I love HFS.... Well, not at Chucks. Here workers have BAD attitudes, and in general there ain't anything to get jazzed up about at Chuck's. When I finished checking out, and while I was venting to the cashier, the patron came up and said, Jennifer was still running her mouth about me and that I did nothing wrong. THANK YOU! I have to be honest, I am not really sure what to think of Chucks. I want to like it so much as I am searching for a good health food store, but everytime I go there I end up irritated about either the staff or about the ridiculously high prices. Let me address the high prices thing first and I know what most will say: Healthy food costs more. That is correct, however when you go to Chuck's, be prepared to spend way above what you were planning on spending. There are other stores that carry the exact same items for 40% - 50% less than Chuck's. I would venture to say that $10 for a jar of pasta sauce is a little ridiculous, but that is just my opinion. The staff plain out sucks. I usually go in there later at night (they close at 8) after I get my kids to bed. When I go in there, it is more like I am inconveniencing them than giving them my hard earned money. I attempted to check out one night and stood at the register for 10 minutes before I had to go and get someone. I was the only customer in the store and the cashier was stocking items where she could see the register. Are you kidding me? Another trip I said hi to one of the workers when I passed by them in the aisle and they not only ignored me, they made sure to look in the opposite direction. Not everyone is a people person, I get that. But if you work in RETAIL and face customers all day, put a damn smile on and at least be polite. Here is the challenge: There are not really any other health food stores around Brandon that I know of. Trust me, I am searching for one and when I do, Chuck's will be a thing of the past. This is the first time I've ever wrote a review about a business on Yelp or any other format. I get aggravated every time I have to go in here. Several times my coconut milk was lumpy and I had to return it. They also don't give you a lot of cold beverage options in the cooler. The produce is always low to nothing and if there is produce it's the bottom of the barrel. Most things don't have prices on them. I wish so much Brandon would have more health food store options. I'm amazed this place is still open. It's run down. The staff is friendly but who ever deals with ordering or general marketing needs to step the game up. Rollin Oats is a great reference. I would have to say there has been a good 4 times I attempted to shop there and finally gave up and left the store. read more
