We stopped here twice this week as we were heading to the west coast and on the way back east. And pretty much what you'd need if you were cooking -- or bringing a gift. I especially liked the blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. All the berries were gorgeously colored and looked like a photograph. The local strawberries were available by the half flat as well as the pint. We, however, fell in love with the beautiful beefsteak Ruskin tomatoes. On the way home, we got some red ripe ones (for salads and sandwiches) and some green ones (with which to make fried green tomatoes). We haven't had the green ones yet, but we sliced one large one as soon as we got home, added crispy bacon and mayo between two slices of white toast. Oh my. So delicious! Just what a tomato should really taste like. Now we regret not buying a few more... But we will know where to stop next time we are driving through town..,

Little did I know what appeared to be a small space from the outside was pretty spacious and had a good amount inside. I can tell they have lots of local produce here and local crafts. I saw strawberries and blueberries, fun exotic fruit, seafood and fish, Amish jams and jellies, gluten free baked items, vegetables and basil. They also had orchids, snacks, some small plants that a plant lover could rescue. There was some great prices that I saw. I picked up a small coconut bar snack which was also next to some local chocolate fudge. It was very good. The person working was very nice and welcoming. It was a very organized produce shop and I'm glad I stopped in.

There's lots of plants there too. It's fairly close to Fletcher/I-75 and Morris Bridge Rd. I have finally found my regular fruit and veggie market!

I love checking out local markets, roadside stands, and small businesses whenever I can, so I finally made my way over. First thing I see when I pull up: $12.99 for a seeded watermelon. Listen... we're in Florida. I see people selling watermelons off the side of the road for $5-$6 all the time. The seedless ones were $8.99, which somehow made the seeded watermelon price even more surprising. Unless that $12.99 watermelon comes with a guarantee that it's going to be the sweetest, juiciest watermelon of my entire life, I just can't do it. Once I walked around, I was also surprised by the produce selection. I expected a much larger variety, especially for a farmers market. I actually stopped because I needed cabbage and don't remember seeing any. They DO have some really cool local products--grass-fed meats, seafood, juices, goat milk, soaps and other specialty items--and I definitely appreciate the emphasis on local products and supporting local businesses. It's a cute little market and clearly they have plenty of loyal customers because they seem to do very well. For me, though, the prices were just too high across the board. Even seeing bars of soap around $12.99 had me thinking about the goat milk soap I can pick up at the Safety Harbor Sunday Market instead. So this isn't really a "bad review." It's more of a not-for-me review. I've visited quite a few farmers markets and genuinely enjoy shopping local, but part of the appeal for me is finding good local products at reasonable prices. Keystone just didn't hit that mark for me. If shopping local is your priority and you don't mind paying a premium for it, absolutely stop in and check it out. It's cute, they have some unique products, and you may love it. Personally, I'll stick with Aldi, Publix, my other local markets, and that person on the side of the road selling me a $5 watermelon.

But I never buy anything because I've no idea how to use it, but I still stop and stare anyway. To the left is a cool refrigerator with a glass door showcasing sauces and guacamole with other prepared foods, this is a display case that I do actively participate in. Just below are two hot coolers that are insulated holding the heat in to keep the tamales and corn tortillas warm. $8. For 5 with your choice of chicken or cheese both are absolutely delicious, served in corn husks with a generous cup of red or green sauces. This is the thru area, a walkway to go left or right. Right takes you to the bagged snacks also of Mexican descent more candies, hot sauces bags of beans, rice with some products you'd use in your kitchen and bathroom. I'm always good for buying a new hot sauce to try out and keep a record of my taste buds findings. Left is a narrow little path with fresh flour tortillas, some sugary light pastries, two shuffle steps right and your in the meat case. Pre prepared seasoned meats (and non seasoned) sell by the pound, so if your having company or just wanna give the family a special Sunday night dinner, buy the seasoned meats, set and go in the oven. You'll be thought of as the finest cook in town. Sweeping right turn takes you into the produce area with fresh vegetables and fruits. Jose's is a real market in that you'll need not ship anywhere else for your food, assuming you're eating as much Mexican based foods as I am. Meats and produce hold no such ethnic divide. Everything is well laid out, well labeled and we'll described by the lineages of workers and Jose's daughter who I love to talk to. She's a smart business lady with a view of the world that I very much relate to in my current journey to find my animal spirit and totem spirit, I'm right about there.

As for the lines, they can be pretty long. But they do a really good job at making the lines move quickly. The prices are also very reasonable. The market also has all sorts of fresh veggies, fruits, and strawberry related items, like jams, breads, and even cookies!

The strawberry ice cream was like anywhere else nothing special. The strawberry shake was really good. Then my wife had to use the restroom, but they were both closed and out of order so there were no restrooms. Any of the guest could use. Won't bother being back, not worth the time. The shake being really good is the only reason it got two stars otherwise it would be one. It was a typical low end farmers market with not much there.
