We went to Chucks tonight and it was very busy. The server was very pleasant and efficient. The food was somewhat mediocre. My wife checked the drinks menu and the last page of that menu (not the main menu) informs you that you have to pay a 3% charge so that they can keep their prices down. Ridiculous. I asked to speak to the manager. Manager appeared and got very irate and belligerent and did not actually explain why charging an additional 3% kept their prices down. Manager was clearly out of his depth and could not justify the charge. Whilst the charge was on the drinks menu it was not obvious. I would have happily paid the 15% tip if they dropped the 3% surcharge. I offered that to the manager and he refused. Terrible customer service from the manager and he just spoke over us and argued without providing a reasonable explanation as to this charge. Given the mediocre food and cash grab we will not return. Plenty of other honest places with better food and no aggressive managers. Avoid. read more

On Civic Holiday, before heading home, I had lunch at Chuck's Roadhouse. I had passed by this restaurant a few times and I wanted to check it out. So, after checking out from my hotel, I headed here. I parked right outside the main doors. The restaurant is located in a plaza. There is plenty of parking. It took a minute to have someone come over. I managed to take a photo of the signature Harley. I got seated at the bar. It was just past noon. My usual go-to meal is the top sirloin and lobster. I love sirloin. I love lobster. It's roughly $20. It's a good deal, and comes with corn and a starch. I went with mashed potatoes. My wait wasn't long to get my meal. The bartender had forgotten to give me a steak knife. I asked for one and she was extremely apologetic. I loved my meal. I got my sirloin medium-well and it was done to my liking. The lobster was succulent. I loved dipping each morsel in the clarified butter. The corn cob was yummy. It eventually got dunked into the clarified butter, too. If the food is dunkable, chances are that it went into the clarified butter. The mashed potatoes were delicious and comforting. I got lots of gravy, which I appreciated. I had room for dessert. I went with the carrot cake with cream cheese. When it came to me, I thought that I had some sort of weird version tiramisu. The cream cheese was generous. There was way too much caramel sauce, though. The carrot cake was so yummy. The cake was moist and flavourful. The cream cheese icing sealed the deal. The caramel on top worked and wasn't as obnoxious as it looked. I'd order it again. I got a Diet Coke with a lime to wash it down. I got a refill during my stay. The TVs are crispy and clear. I managed to watch a CFL game as I dined. This restaurant has been here since 2015. I am fairly new to Chuck's Roadhouse and didn't realize that it has been around for that long. I like this one. I am posting regarding the newly opened Chucks Roadhouse in Trenton on 2nd Dug Hill Rd. I went into the restaurant to make a reservation for 25 people for 28 Feb. the person that took my reservation was very nice and suggested we might like one particular area. I agreed but when the day came, I found we were pushed against a wall with hardly any room to move between the two tables, the waitresses had issues getting orders from our ladies as well! One table was completely finished eating while the other hadn't seen any food yet. On a good note, the wait staff were excellent and I didn't receive any complaints about the food. As for ambiance, the music was so loud we couldn't have a decent conversation. I guess the worst of the experience was the being squished into a corner like sardines. Update again: they lied and said they issued a gift card. It wasn't received. Conveniently, they resent but once again, never received. It's been a month. Update: I am still waiting for customer service to answer my email, it's been over 2 weeks and I have sent about 3 emails. Guess Chuck's is cool with their customers being groped and uncomfortable. Great business model. Absolutely the worst experience. Walked in, seated immediately. Waitress was very rushy, kept pestering us to order, putting her arm on me. Coming to the table complaining about being bored. Super uncomfortable and my aunt and I couldn't even have a conversation. She was asked for tartar sauce, brought blue cheese. Asked for refills, never received. My aunt wasn't even finished eating and the waitress was rushing us out the door. Guess no dessert. Got the bill, she charged us for 3 pops, only 2 of us. She was so pushy that I just wanted to leave at that point. Probably wont return. $53 bucks for an appetizer, 2 (actually 3 drinks) and fish and chips seems excessive. I also don't appreciate having someone complain about their job, rush me through my meal and constantly badger me (not even for the right things like if I needed anything). This is my first review here. We eat out frequently and have a lot of experience with varieties of food. Until now I wasn't interested in leaving reviews. We've been coming to this location for years before it was Chuck's (Crabby Joes) and it used to be good. But it has been going downhill the last year or so. I don't know if it's new ownership or just poor management, but our recent visit was likely our last...let me lay out the scene. We were out doing some shopping and decided to stop for a bite to eat and a couple of beers. We were not impressed the last time we ate at Chuck's last spring - the food was mediocre but the service was decent so we decided to give Chuck's another try. Upon arrival, a pleasant hostess seated us but told us they have closed some areas due to lack of staff. That's understandable in these times. After being seated we waited 5 minutes for someone to come take our order. During that time we noticed the menus were dirty, the table was not clean with sticky sauce from the last group still on the table, and staff with empty trays wandering by doing nothing. If they're understaffed, why were two young people wandering back and forth doing nothing? They didn't take any orders. They didn't deliver any food or drinks. They just walked to the front and chatted with other staff and walked back to the kitchen with empty trays. But when they left the kitchen, they again had empty trays and walked to the front to chat again. This happened the entire time we were seated. Eventually someone who looked like a manager approached and asked if we wanted something to drink. No introduction or questions beyond that, and generally not pleasant. We asked for a couple of draft beers. It took another 4 minutes to get the two beers which arrived in warm mugs. The mugs are supposed to be chilled to help keep the beer cold longer, but these were quite warm, likely right out of the dishwasher which contributed to the beer not being cold. No one came back to see if we wanted anything else or check on us. After I finished my beer, I decided to take a trip to the washroom and found it was also not clean and had a strong smell of urine. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all that day. I returned to our table to report finding more dirty conditions, and after watching the same two staff wandering around doing nothing for another 6 minutes, no one returning to serve us, and the dirty condition of the surroundings, we decided it's time to leave. But no one was checking on us so I walked over to the hostess to let her know we wanted to leave and clear our bill. It took another 4 minutes for the same "manager" person to return and give us our bill. Again he was not at all pleasant, just dropped the bill and POS wireless device to pay and walked away without saying a word. We paid, left no tip since we had virtually no service, and left the restaurant. Overall a poor experience. I doubt we'll go back again. read more

So I called the Trenton outlet and told the manager who apparently is also the owner of 10 other chucks , they said they didn't receive the order. And I would have to call head office to find out where my order is, of course they don't work weekends . So there is no one to call...this franchise has no number to call to find out if my order has been received . How do you run a business where no one seems to know anything. I even sent him the screenshots of my order number and it even showed up as a past order. The kicker is they charged my credit card right away. No offer of my food or money after trying to get it settled. The manager calls me back 15 minutes later and says he now has my order...which after going through all I did I didn't want it any more..told him to keep it and I wanted my money back. Of course now I have to call head office to get it....poorly run business...avoid it at apparently all costs it seems. They deserve no stars! After 2 weeks of asking for my credit card refunded , they said they can't refund my credit card and issued me a $50 e-card . I said that I didn't want their e-card I wanted my refund to my credit card. How is it possible that they can charge you credit card withinn15 minutes but can't refund it....what kind of business is this? And why would I want to go back to a business that has treated me so unfairly? This is a company to avoid at all costs, they do not care about anything. They won't call and have stopped answering my emails. So no food...no assistance...and then they ignore you, do yourself a favour and do not give them business! read more

Recently visited after a two year break. You get cheap beer, friendly service but don't expect much from the food. Ordered a grilled chicken club sandwich. Chicken was thin, dried out and too tough to chew. They gave me a 50% discount on it after I told them it was inedible. No improvement in quality since our last visit. We had dinner at Chucks tonight to celebrate Valentines Day. The restaurant had been very busy so waited a few minutes for our table. Once we were seated, we had fantastic service from our wait staff Jaylene and a guy waiter. In spite of the fact that they'd obviously had a crazy busy night with clearly not enough staff, they were positive, fun and took great care of us!! Bleak experience. Sent my ribs back as they tasted absolutely wretched. Despite this, and a heartfelt apology from our waitress, I was charged full price for said ribs. Ordered , wings, crab cakes and spinach dip. dip was good, wing were ok a bit dry but the crab cakes were raw inside. When I sent them back I was told that is how they were suppose to be.. I advised them I was not eating raw crab and getting sick. I was still charged for them because according to the manager thats how they should be cooked... Sometimes you just feel like going to a roadhouse and my friend and I used to frequent Chuck's once in awhile. We had dinner there tonight and it was TERRIBLE. My friend received raw salmon ... and hey, this can happen, it's a roadhouse not a Michelin Star restaurant - but it was the passive aggressive and brutally misogynistic treatment by the floor manager that killed it for us. Here on business and the hotel manager recommended eating here - and it is within waling distance of the hotel. I was almost discouraged from taking her advice based on some of the other reviews that I read. With that said, my co-workers and I decided to take our chances and give it a try. When we walked in, the placed was packed and we actually had to wait a few minutes to get seated. Our waitress came around right away and took our drink orders and returned promptly with them. Between the three of us, two of us ordered steaks and one ordered a club sandwich. The steaks were cooked to perfection and everything was delicious. And as another reviewer stated, the prices were excellent. I will definitely return on my next trip to Belleville. read more

The quality of Chucks has depleted harder than the stock market on Black Monday, October 19, 1987. Back 2 years ago the food was excellent and EXTREMELY cheap. However it got worse and worse as the months went on, to the point where it's nearly inedible (Somehow it's better than Dugout), the alcoholic drinks aren't even made properly and taste horrendously bad. Golfing with s group of Perth lads staying down the street from Chucks at BW we had dinner the last 2 nights at Chucks. Unbelievably good roadhouse food inexpensively priced. Tuesday 32 plz beers for 5$.. normally priced at 6.5$. Wednesday 1/2 rack of ribs $5. Spent no more than 32$ each night including all drinks, good food, desert and coffee w liquors. Steaks were ok. Cooked exactly how people wanted it. My rare was a good rare. Not bloody either. The French fries could had been a bit more crispier. The waitress we had was super nice. Very attentive and provided refills quite quick. There was the "honest to goodness 3%" fee at the bottom which was not explained to us. I'm not a fan of these types of fees. We went to Chuck's because it was my daughter's birthday and she said that the ribs there were great. Well, she ordered the ribs and she ended up sending them back because they were beyond terrible! There were eight of us there, it was a very busy (Toronto/Boston game) night, not only was the food terrible, (everyone of us had a complaint about our food) but our waitress was just as bad. This place is not even worth one star. The food was decent but the service was absolutely awful! We were a group who came in and my friend and I had ordered drinks which we paid for prior to joining another table. When we asked for the cheque for the remainder of our drinks (before calling it a night), the cheque included the drinks which we had already paid for. We advised the waitress who seemed very confused. She then brought over the manager who was condescending and not friendly at all who insisted we did not pay for our drinks. I go to Chucks with my family and friends every couple of weeks their is 9 of us. Tonight when we got our meals, they had changed the fries to shoe strings. None of us like them. If we new they had changed there fries we would have gone somewhere else. Also the portions were different from one plate to the next. The waitress ask use how everything was so we told her we did not like the fries. She said she was sorry and we could get something else. We replied no thanks, its not her fault they changed them. Prices seem to go up every few weeks Service is very very bad and slow if you even see a server. We went a lot as it was ok for the price now that it's gone up 3 times in price I can't see eating there any more. Gotta be all frozen pre made. Aurora Location: I am very disappointed with this restaurant. I called and ordered three meals, kids cheeseburger, steak and lobster, and ribs and a quarter chicken, for a birthday dinner; please note that the server confirmed the entire order before the call was disconnected. Once I picked up my order and got home, I realized that I did not receive the lobster and only the steak. I called the restaurant immediately, and the resolution they provided was to give me a credit and I would be able to pick up the order the following day since I wasn't able to come back later that day. The following day I called, expecting the meal, and the story changed to "I was not charged" for the steak and lobster, just the steak. I have been back and forth with two employees about their inconvenience; and they were very dismissive. Their customer service was very poor, their attitude is very dismissive and disrespectful; and blamed their poor attitude on being understaffed. If it was another restaurant, for such a gross inconvenience this matter would have been resolved, I've gotten better service from Tim Hortons. read more

For the price of everything I'm giving it the two stars. On the other hand the food is awful, and most times comes out wrong so it has to be sent back. The beer selection is mediocre, there is absolutely nothing special about it, I would rather buy a six pack of Stella and drink it at home than spend money on what they have. The price for beer is the only thing that's good about it. The atmosphere is loud and a fairly young crowd, especially Thursday - Saturday, so beware of that. The service could be much better if they were treated better as staff so it's not much about them more about management. If they got better beer and actually took the time on their food, I'd give them a solid three star, for now it's a two. read more

We have eaten at Chucks often and the service was usually good. However that was not the case on Thursday October 3rd. It took forever to get a drink order and then another 20 mins to actually get our drinks. Ok, it happens..but then we ordered and we waited 1 and 1/2 hours to get our food. The server claimed it was because they were waiting on baked potatoes... the manager had come over several times. We were a party of 9, and then they said it was behind because of the large reservation. If there is a large reservation perhaps they should have more staff working. We were there so long that we ended up ordering additional drinks. At the very end, because we had other places to be, we ordered 3 pieces of cheesecake to go. Thinking when they brought the bill that perhaps they would have comped a round of drinks or the cheesecake, we were shocked that they did not offer anything for our long wait. We were disgusted. Yes I am writing a review for your restaurant I am really disappointed of your services. Yes I am the one who left your restaurant with the waitress trying to find me outside after the long 15 minutes waiting to be served. This was the second time in two times happened to be serve. The first time ok it was a bit busy it took 10 minutes but the second time it was 3 servers was doing nothing at the bar. Customers was coming at the door and were served right away, is it normal you are watching people coming in and be served right away and you are waiting for 15 minutes to be served and never happened I left the restaurant pissed off. I think the manager saw me leaving and send his server to get me back. Sorry you need to take care of your customers before socializing with others. One thing to say the service sucks!!! Went in for the first time to have dinner and watch the blue jays game. Asked to sit at the bar or within sight of the tvs. Hostess proceeded to tell us that she couldn't seat us at the 3 empty tables in the bar but could seat is just at the edge. The problem with that was that only one of us got to watch the game. We asked to move three tables down and she told us we couldn't because that server had enough tables. I told her we could easily watch the game elsewhere if we couldn't watch the game here. She said "ok" ...so we left. Worst service. Chuck's was fantastic. On a golf trip and the other guys did a "wine" thing. So left to my own devices I decided to give this place a try. My Strip Loin steak was cooked perfectly, accompanied by corn on the cob, fries, and I added mushrooms. All really tasty. To wash it down, schooners (huge beer) of Canadian were only $5. Very decent food. I was honestly surprised since I had zero expectations! My steak was perfectly cooked, which is something even expensive restaurant don't always get right! Definitely didn't enjoy my experience at Chucks. Prices are good but the portion sizes suck. I actually left and went through a drive thru on the way home to pick up a burger. I had their wrangler steak and it came with their "loaded fries." These consisted of about 15 fries in a bowl, barely any cheese (like literally almost none) a speck of bacon and ranch sauce that was unseen. Oh and the green onions that the person I was with was missing out of his bowl. Literally had none. They did not live up to their name at all.., incredibly disappointing. It actually costed 1.50 to get these fries which actually made us lose out in the end. Those who didn't pay extra for these fries has about double the amount of the fries on the plate. They weren't well cooked either and very cold. Just incredibly disappointing. The steak did taste good though! The service was okay. The waitress was very nice but the food actually took waaaaay too long to come out of the kitchen. We ate around 5pm too so it's not like the restaurant was super packed. There was confusion as well in the beginning. Tried to make reservations because it was for my birthday supper and was told that it wasn't allowed because they don't take reservations. Only to see that there were 4 tables reserved. I was pretty pissed off tbh. We were seated at a round table that didn't work for the 2 babies with us and then had to move because it turns out the manager in the end actually had told the waitress to hold a table for us since i was sitting in the parking lot for 30 minutes waiting for other guests. That was nice of him I guess... Anyhow, overall the experience sucked! If you want a cheap meal go there but just get an appetizer because the main course really isn't that filling and be aware again of these so called loaded fries. I'm on a diet and they were not at all worth the cheat this evening. If it's your birthday they don't offer you a piece of cake or do anything for their birthday guests either. Just saying... Spend 5$ more and go to a nicer restaurant and get a nice hot meal with a bigger portion. A perk of the place is they have cheap beer. Oh and the final thing was the lack of consistency amongst our plates. Some plates were missing or had minimal ingredients or portion sizes where as others had more.
