It honestly seemed like a nice friendly place, besides one EXTREMELY rude older male bartender. This place is right next to a beach so there are plenty of families inside. We had a 4 and 2 year old, who on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being their worst were probably at a 4. After we ordered food and drinks, my wife walked up to the bar to get two waters for the kids. An older male bartender, probably around 50 with slicked back gray hair, literally tells my wife "keep your kids quiet." My wife said she giggled assuming it was a joke due to how rude it was, but the male doubled down and responded "no seriously, keep them quiet." I was shocked and it kept my wife from letting me make a scene when she told me. Again, our kids were not even being loud, just your average toddlers at a table. There's not a lot of restaurant options in this area and Chuck's is definitely one of them. Good, standard bar food. Has some nice outdoor seating along with plenty of indoor seating. The turkey burger I got was well cooked and the onion rings were very crunchy! They were extremely busy, but you wouldn't know it. From take out orders to bar orders! We sat at the bar and I was impressed with how efficient everyone was behind there!! This place is a regular bar, but has a great vibe and delicious food. My husband had one of their burgers and onion rings, both were great! I had the Ahi Tuna Salad that was seasoned and cooked well. We've gone to Gordys, but was glad someone local suggested we try Chucks. And it's always great to visit WI because Moon Man and Spotted Cow are on tap!!! read more

My BLT was described as having six slices of bacon which was really three slices broken in half. It was served on some killer grilled bread. COVID review: I was't too impressed with this place. We were doing the hike around Lake Geneva and Fontana was the halfway point so we stopped for a bite to eat. I am from Illinois and was completely shocked at the lack of rules they had for social distancing. We called ahead to order our food so we could pick it up and eat outside far away from strangers. There was no such thing as sitting "every other table" and no one was wearing a mask. When I walked inside to pick up my order I was wearing a mask and was completely judged by the other customers and staff. The bar was packed with shoulders touching. I ordered a white claw and the server got annoyed when I asked politely if she could not touch my I.D. and just look from afar. I got out of that place as fast as possible as they HAD to swipe my card inside. The salad I got was very flavorful (great buffalo sauce) and the sweet potato fries were great. My friend said the 'Chicago Dog' was a bad choice and that she should have ordered the brat. We sat outside across the street (poured our drinks into empty water bottles, shhhh). If you are a cautious person about this virus and want somewhere to eat that is cleaner, go to Gordy's next door. On our hike around Lake Geneva we timed it perfectly to end up in Fontana right at 11am when Chuck's opens. Since it was a Thursday, there was no crowd. We seated ourself and ordered at the bar when we were ready. They brought the food out to us about 10-15 minutes later ounce it was ready. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The bun was so thick and flavorful and it came with two decent sized scoops of chicken salad that was also super flavorful. Stopped in for lunch after walking the Lake Geneva Shore path, we were pretty hot so we opted to sit inside. We stood at the door for a bit until we learned it was a seat yourself restaurant. You order food and drinks up at the bar and they'll bring it out when ready. We ordered the cheese curd appetizer which came out super quick! They were yummy and a Wisconsin staple. The included photo is after we ate a few, so you do get more than that. I ordered the chicken salad- salad which was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. It had a large portion of both the greens and the chicken salad. My partner ordered the Southwest Chicken salad which he says "it was fine", again nothing to write home about. Great place to grab lunch after a day at Fontana Beach, which is just a short walk from there. Food was good and they had a nice selection of beer on tap. Just be prepared because this place gets LOUD and very crowded. Service is a little chaotic (no hostess or waitresses, you order everything at the bar) but the two bartenders I talked to were friendly and asked me to point out my table so they could bring the food out when it was ready. Stopped in to try the Bloody Mary and the place was packed. The World Cup was happening and the USA and England we're competing. I started out with a few sports cows while standing by the car and you could tell the staff were not only accustomed to the crowd but actually were really on top of things. People were running tabs and ordering food at the bar but all over the place for seating, but they managed to get what wells ordered. I switched over to a Bloody Mary when I had a seat at the bar. It was put together with rail Vodka and although some have stated the bloody is a standout I would call it a average to slightly above average. I went back to spotted cow and had a bowl of clam chowder. This was a standout! A very tasty chowder with plenty of clams and some potato but not enough to dominate the serving. Although I do like some celery in mine there were no noticeable veggies in the bowl. This s was an 8.5. And worthy or coming back for the dish. Perfect lunch stop when doing the 23 mile hike around the lake of lake Geneva. After the first 4 hours of our walk ( about 12 miles) , we loved the fresh popcorn to snack on while our food was cooking. This place is a sh@t show. We sat at on the front porch which first come first serve. The table we found hand t been cleared but at least we got a table. It took them a while to clear it and never wiped it down. We ordered at the bar which went fine. There were 4 of us but we put in two food orders. The first order they went in came out efficiently although the food wasn't great the salad had some rotten lettuce in it. The biggest issue was the second order put in for the other two people in our party came out 30 min later and was ice cold. The bartender then tried to get in our face about us being rude for mentioning it rather than just fixing the issue. I think they microwaved it and brought it back out. All the food was bad. I wouldn't come back except for drinks. But the system here makes little sense for how busy they get. read more

The service gets "the worst service award" so far this year. It took just over an hour for our food to arrive. Since you pay and order at the bar, you also tip then so there's not much incentive after your order is placed. The server who did bring our food just announced what is was and abruptly set it down and walked away without asking who ordered what. You could tell they all truly enjoyed being there (much different from other places we've been too where people are pissed off they are working). The food was great!!!
