I took off a star because they did not give us water, it wasn't until I asked, and Waitress Mia did apologize but we also did not get enough napkins since my daughter was not given one and my entree was avocado toast that requires hands to eat as you can see the height is impressive. We did a to-go order and started with the Tres Leches Latte, it was really good! I ordered the breakfast burrito, I did not ask what was on it as my husband placed the phone order. Unfortunately it did not have meat which I was okay with but it was definitely missing a potato or something for texture. It had good flavor and a great veggie option. Came here with some friends the other morning, we wanted to try somewhere we haven't been yet so we decided to go here. When we walked in we were not greeted by anyone, just saw a sign that said "wait to be seated" so we stood there and waited. About 15 minutes with some other people who also seemed confused. We were finally seated, ordered a "mimosa kit" for $36 that came with the cheapest bubbly you can find and one small glass of juice....not sure how that's a "kit" but okay. Waited almost an hour for our food and honestly was not impressed for the price. Even had them take something off our tab, which we never do. Our server was very sweet and professional she was definitely doing the best she could so we didn't give her a hard time. Terrible Service, yummy food. The restaurant is poorly organized. Either people don't know their role or each person has too many jobs. It was chaotic and stressful to watch. We waited about 15 minutes for a table. No problem. Apparently they offer call ahead seating. As people skipped "the line" to get seated. One of the servers was in charge of the waitlist. This added to the chaos of the restaurant as many servers kept circling around asking us in line if we had put our name in. Maybe a designated host or a sign in sheet would alleviate the chaos and uncertainty of the staff. When we ordered our breakfast we wanted an appetizer. We were told there was no guarantee that we'd get it first due to the restaurant being busy. So we told her we didn't want it if we couldn't get it first. The result, she put in the appetizer but not the food. It took about 25 minutes to get the chips & salsa appetizer. We had to ask another server to check on our food. This resulted in our order finally getting put in. Another 20 minutes passed and it came. Sadly, my husband's order came out incorrect. The tres leche latte was delicious. Cute place. Great atmosphere but went here on a weekday and the service was horrible and the food was not worth the price tag. The staff is not knowledgeable about the menu and we waited a very long time because apparently they forgot to print the order to send to the kitchen to make it. My harvest bowl was mostly a salad and it was rather salty and the turkey churizo didn't have that churizo taste. It was simply ground turkey with some spices. The sourdough bread came out very very hard and crispy to the point it cut my mouth. The lattes turned out okay. Mine was made with almond milk and was not desirable. I could not finish it. AND ITS NOT EVEN ALL THAT BUSY! UPDATE: we asked for the manager and explained our situation. She comped the entire meal for the whole table and was very sweet. It was described on the menu as: mom's red chile or tomatillo sauce, pork, chicken, or vegetable, sweet onion, queso fresco, avocado, poached egg, micro-greens, onion jam, scallions. What it actually was was heavily fried nachos and green sauce with a couple of avocado slices, small potato cubes, and a poached egg, which smothered by two inches of chips. Many items sounded interesting but after some thought, I decided on their Pork Tacos. My better half selected the Chilaquiles, which is her favorite, and an absolute no-brainer. My tacos looked GREAT, and the garnish looked amazingly fresh. Wait, do they have a garden in the kitchen? The taste of my dish definitely matched the initial optics, cementing that the food was prepared for me. The Chilaquiles also hit the mark, but less sauce with refried beans included would have earned a RAVE!! To ROUND it out (US), we tried the Bread Pudding for dessert. This was basically a Blueberry infused cinnamon roll with some sauce poured over. Do not get me wrong, we finished it, but this is not the Bread Pudding we were expecting. We have been wanting to try chúla for over a year and after finally trying it today, this will unfortunately be our last. Upon first arrival, about 9:15 A.M. there was no rush yet. We were never greeted, we had to wait in the bakery line where two other workers standing around saw us and said absolutely nothing. Finally our turn (after another customer getting some pastries to-go) is where we receive our first "hello." After being seated (rita) took about 20 mins just to get our order. Many families and couples seated around us AND seated after us, received more attention, AND their food quicker than we did. And after about 40 mins of waiting (still no morning rush) we receive our food. As someone who eats authentic Mexican food, I understand that this "artisan eatery" will be more so of a spin off on actual Mexican food, so I will not deduct points there. We ordered their "red chilaqueles" and their "grilled pork torta." The torta was good, pork had great flavor, not too much to complain there. I will say this about the chilaquiles however...absolutely greasy. Flavor itself was alright, but my goodness was it greasy. About 3/4 of the chips were soggy from sitting in grease, and just by looking into the bowl you can see the vat of grease. It made me sick and I couldn't even finish them after being hungry all morning. Our server (Rita) came to our table a total of THREE times. 1. To take our order 2. To give us our food 3. To give us our check AND hound over us to hand her our card all in that same trip (I have never had a server wait for us to give them our form of payment, they usually end with "no rush!" Or "take your time!") If Chúla could take a few words of advice to not only fix those greasy chilaquiles, I strongly urge them to treat ALL of their customers with kindness. It was extremely uncomfortable watching ALL of the tables around us be treated while we were left in the dust. I would suggest whoever may read my review not to fall into their "food network" "Guy Fieri" sham they have all over their walls. There are far better establishments in the Coachella Valley with not only better food, but a better atmosphere and servers as well. Thank you. We started with the tres leches latte, and the golden milk latte, I had huevos rancheros like I've never had before, very different, and so delicious. Hubby had the most incredible green chili biscuit with hollandaise and a poached egg. Tim, our server was excellent, cheerful and attentive.We did not partake of adult beverages today, but I see they have a very appealing and interesting menu.
