Damage to the front of the vehicle that's why there's so many pictures

Purchased a vehicle at Chula Vista Honda find out the car has front and damaged that they never disclose that which total is almost $7000. I would never buy a car from them again and I'm gonna upload the pictures if you guys want a good dealership to go to please stay away from them. They don't care about you at all and they don't answer the phones and they keep saying that the owner is out of the country in Canada. I'm the type of person to drive down there and get some shit handled. it's funny how people want to sell you stuff and then don't wanna help you out when they know that they did wrong so I've already gave the US general a call and they will be reaching out and I do have a lawyer on standby.

    Insane markup!

I came to Chula Vista Honda interested in purchasing a Civic Type R, only to be met with one of the most absurd and shady dealership experiences I've had. They placed a $17,000 markup over MSRP--yes, seventeen thousand dollars--on a vehicle that already commands a premium. When I politely questioned the justification for such a steep and exploitative markup, instead of being reasonable or transparent, the staff doubled down and tried to justify the pricing with vague claims about "market value" and "limited availability." In today's market, with interest rates high and car buyers being more cautious, this kind of pricing is not only out of touch--it's borderline predatory. Other dealers within a reasonable distance are either selling at MSRP or with far more reasonable markups. Yet Chula Vista Honda stood by their inflated number without offering any added value or rationale, just arrogance and condescension. This dealership clearly prioritizes gouging customers over building relationships or providing fair service. It's shady, dishonest, and frankly insulting. If you're shopping for a Civic Type R--or any car--do yourself a favor and look elsewhere! Salesman Vince 0/10

I haven't written a review in so long, but I am compelled to talk about my experience. My recent experience purchasing a 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Hatchback from Chula Vista Honda on May 11-12, 2025 was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience. I am writing this to warn potential buyers about the serious issues we encountered, which demonstrated a concerning level of negligence and lack of professionalism. While our salesperson, Andres, was not overtly rude, he displayed a significant lack of fundamental sales skills and attentiveness. This contributed to a sales process that felt disorganized and ultimately neglectful. Rather than feeling pressured, we experienced a downplaying of serious issues, particularly concerning the vehicle's condition. The most alarming issue was Chula Vista Honda's attempt to sell us a brand new 2025 vehicle with an active check engine light illuminated. Instead of addressing this critical fault proactively and with transparency, the severity of a check engine light on a new car was notably downplayed by our salesperson. This is a serious lapse in quality control and customer care, raising significant concerns about their business practices. For a dealership to even consider letting a new car leave the lot with such an issue, let alone minimize its importance, is unacceptable. Despite these significant red flags, we unfortunately proceeded with the purchase of the Civic Hybrid. The finance manager found out about the active check engine light and suggested we not take delivery of this vehicle and wait until the next day for service to look at the Civic to make sure the car was safe to drive. This turned out to be yet another mistake. We came back the next day after service cleared the vehicle as safe. Adding to the already poor experience, while attempting to affix the temporary license plates, our salesperson, Andres, damaged our brand new car. This act of carelessness was deeply frustrating and further highlighted a lack of professionalism and respect for a customer's significant purchase. Finally, after enduring a terrible sales process, neglecting to buy a car with a check engine light, and having our new car damaged by their staff, Chula Vista Honda didn't even bother with a proper delivery. Once the paperwork was signed, we were essentially just sent on our way with a damaged, problematic vehicle. There was no walkthrough of the car's features, no congratulations, just a clear desire to get us off the lot. I'm not even going to to in detail on how much time we spent on this car buying process. But it took about 8 hours in total, for both days! The dealership demonstrated a clear lack of respect for its customers, a willingness to sell faulty vehicles, and an unacceptable level of carelessness resulting in damage to a brand new car. I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a vehicle to steer clear of Chula Vista Honda. This dealership has proven they cannot be trusted to provide a fair, honest, or competent car buying experience. We are beyond disappointed and feel completely taken advantage of.

Was hesitant to buy a car since I haven't bought a new car in almost a decade. However, Marshall made our car buying experience very pleasant, he even stayed late to ensure that we had a seamless financing. Thank you for helping us find our car.

So I have to say I'm very happy with all the help I got from Ashley and Eddie, they were so amazing with me and took me in last min as well. I was in a pickle with my other car and Ashely helped with it, explained everything very well and made me feel comfortable as if we knew eachother for along time. Eddie was amazing as well, he came at me with number and worked with me what I had. Thank you so much Ashely for everything to helping me get a new car, to charging my phone and going over everything with me to making me feel very comfortable. I would definitely recommend Ashely to anyone who is knowing for a car because how y'all made me feel.

Due to the government shutdown, our financial situation was not ideal--we only had $3,000 to put down, my credit had taken a hit, and my boyfriend is still in the process of rebuilding his. Most places wouldn't even consider working with us under those circumstances. But Willy did something you just don't see anymore--he trusted us. Without running our credit or putting us through a stressful process, he offered in-house financing based on our word. That level of understanding and compassion is incredibly rare, and it meant more to us than we can express. On top of that, the car we purchased has been in excellent condition--truly top-notch--and priced very fairly. The only issue was a cracked windshield, and Willy didn't hesitate to take care of it. Within a couple of days, he had a mobile service come out and replace it completely. From start to finish, this was hands-down superior service. Willy is honest, compassionate, and genuinely cares about his customers. If you're looking for someone who will work with you and treat you like a person--not just a number--this is the place to go. Highly, highly recommend!

First thing I noticed was a leak in the power steering pump which I took back to him and he said he fixed. He did not. When I called him up later about it he said it was past the #Warranty time. Since then the power window on the passenger side went out. I wanted to check the brakes, but several of the studs were cross threaded, and I had to replace about five studs. The car started making loud noise and I noticed it was the air-conditioning unit which he said he had replaced. I'm quite sure what he replaced it with but it was not a quality unit and it did not even look new. The bearings went out and since it was an aftermarket and not an OEM I had to replace the whole unit. While doing that job, the serpentine belt tensioner was making noise and I had to replace it. But the worst thing about the car was that we noticed upon accelerating and braking it swayed some. The control arm on the passenger front wheel had a broken loose. This absolutely should not happen. The car was absolutely dangerous to drive in this condition. Fortunately nothing happened. We were very lucky that we did not Lose control of the car while driving. Whoever worked on these cars for him did a very shoddy job. If you are thinking about purchasing a car here, I highly recommend a thorough top to bottom inspection by a trusted mechanic.

They had the exact car I was looking for -- same color, year, make -- but even better: a bigger, nicer model with low miles and a great price. Jorge helped us through the process and made me and my husband feel confident and comfortable about our purchase. I explained my bad credit, but with a large down payment, they worked with me, showed me the interest rates from banks that approved me, and made everything smooth and transparent. They also included a 2-year warranty and assured me that if anything went wrong, I could bring it back and they'd take care of it. The car had a clean record and was well maintained, just as they promised. I'm so glad I ended up "on the wrong side" -- this turned out to be the best purchase of the year. None of the doors had the same vin as the actual car, indicating they switched parts likely due to an accident. A few weeks after purchasing, the Ford dealership I took my car to be inspected by declared the car a lemon. The only positive from this horrible experience was now I'm eager to learn about cars so I don't almost die in one again! My Ford Fiesta completely shut off while driving down the 67 highway in Ramona. I had to get towed and I tasted death that day. I let them repo it and just got it written off my credit report instead of suing with the insane amount of proof I had against them - but reading others reviews, I did the right thing. They are shady dealers like you'd expect from a TV show. Now fast forward to 2022 - they never completed the paperwork to say I don't own the car. The IRS has been taking registration fees for a car that likely isn't even functional. I filled out a transfer of ownership and did everything I needed to do but now I'm awaiting a refund for the money I supposedly owed to the DMV and this disgusting dealership for a car that almost took my life. :) Good thing I saved every piece of evidence and can get my money back, unlike some unlucky people in these reviews. & Daniel, who claimed to be the manager at the time was very condescending and rude to me. Yup, it's becoming a lost skill, with most new cars not even having an option for driving stick. So before they become extinct, let's drop some knowledge on these Boyz! Now where do I find one?!?! I decided to use CarGurus and AutoTrader phone apps as my primary search options. Looked at and test drove a bunch of options... Hyundai Veloster, Mazda M3, Toyota Matrix, Kia Soul, and Honda Element. Definitely nothing extravagant. Problem with used cars is finding cars with minimal issues. Look for good price but how much work will it need AFTER you buy it?? And used car dealers, are they keen on customer service? Most are not and have definitely met some rude ones during our search too. So our quest took us to ERNIE'S AUTO SALES in Chula Vista, because a car they Listed on CarGurus looked appealing. Being that it would be a bit of a drive for us, we needed to call ahead to get some details. Here, someone actually answered the phone promptly. THANK YOU! We spoke with Mr. Mario over the phone. "How's this? How's that? Blah, blah, blah". Not once once did he sound irritated, very respectful throughout. Told us "this is a good car, 9/10. And I've been in this business a long time!" Well sure enough, he was spot on, when we came to peep things out. Friendly greeting and cordial interaction the whole time. We wanted the car, and Mr. Mario and Mr. Ernie were both reasonable chaps as we worked the details out with them. No after market nonsense added in. Nice thing is that they wanted make sure everything was up to snuff before We drove it off. So we had to come back a few days later. They kept their word on everything they said. There was even a warranty offered with our car and when we found a few issues, the warranty was honored without issue. I COULD NOT BE ANY HAPPIER the way this experience went. Thank you Gentlemen! It was a pleasure! VERY EASY RECOMMENDATION! If they have a car you are interested in, definitely worth your time! ;)

I purchased my vehicle from this dealership in 2013 and have consistently returned for service because I trusted the Toyota brand and the relationship my family had built with this dealership. Over the years, my family has purchased two vehicles from Toyota Chula Vista and remained committed customers. Recently, I brought my vehicle in because my horn was not working. I was initially charged $599 in diagnostic fees and then quoted an additional $798.46 for parts, bringing the total repair cost to nearly $1,400. Concerned by the price, I contacted two independent repair shops, both of which quoted approximately $400 total, including parts and labor, for the same repair. When I questioned the large price difference, my service advisor, Carlos Carrillo, explained that Toyota uses OEM parts and suggested the higher price was for my safety. While I understand dealerships typically charge more than independent shops, a price difference of nearly $1,000 for the same repair was difficult to justify. Things became even more frustrating when I received a text message offering to reduce the total cost to $1,000 because, according to Toyota, I would already be spending approximately $600 to retrieve my vehicle and another $400 elsewhere to complete the repair. However, when I asked Carlos whether everything would be covered under the proposed $1,000 figure, I was told the actual total would be $1,112.98. When I then asked whether any additional adjustment could be made to the labor costs based on my family's long-standing loyalty to the dealership, the offer was immediately withdrawn. Instead, I was told I would need to provide a written estimate from another repair facility using OEM parts and that my vehicle would be reassembled and made ready for pickup. I left work early and drove to the dealership to speak directly with management. After waiting approximately 30 minutes to meet with Alejandro, the service manager, I spent roughly 20 minutes explaining my concerns. Unfortunately, the conversation was dismissive and unproductive. The only resolution offered was that I needed to pay approximately $600 or my vehicle would not be released. What made this even more concerning is that my horn was never repaired. After paying nearly $600, I left with the same issue I originally brought the vehicle in for. In addition, I was repeatedly told that technicians spent three hours diagnosing the problem, despite receiving a call shortly after dropping off the vehicle with information about the diagnosis. I also discovered that Toyota Chula Vista's website advertises complimentary inspections. Despite this, I was initially presented with a $200 charge and later an additional $400 charge, totaling nearly $600. To the best of my knowledge, I only signed paperwork authorizing the initial $200 amount. The lack of transparency regarding these charges was extremely troubling. I have retained receipts and text messages documenting these interactions and the changing explanations regarding pricing and authorization. What disappointed me most was not simply the cost, but the complete lack of consideration for a customer who has supported this dealership for over a decade. Instead of transparency, accountability, or an effort to preserve a long-standing customer relationship, I was met with shifting prices, withdrawn offers, pressure to pay fees in order to retrieve my vehicle, and a repair that was never completed. After more than ten years of loyalty to Toyota Chula Vista, I left feeling unheard, disrespected, and taken advantage of. Based on this experience, I can no longer recommend this dealership to others.
