It's a great place to be. We have our boat docked here. There is a really nice park. The Galley is a casual restaurant with great food.

This is a very nice Marina. Definitely a nice place to park you sailboat but they place is much more than that. It is adjacent to Bayside Park and it also has restaurants and shops for visitors and regulars. The boat slips offer electricity, cable, Wi-Fi, trash pick up, storage, and much more for your living needs. Prices for boat slips are available on line. The Marina itself has two eateries, a fitness center to my surprise, laundry facilities, and free easy parking which is a big one. There's a also a swimming pool available for members and guest. The views are great and there's also a lot of good space for biking, walking, and jogging. read more

I moved my sailboat here (Non Liveaboard) from the North Bay to get away from the party boaters, rental Jet-Ski idiots, Bimboats and all around douchebags & assholes that make up Harbor Island. Wow. What a treat! The place is quiet! The staff is FANTASTIC. The other boaters and people are really friendly. The marina is incredibly well maintained and clean with nice facilities. I think some of the negative reviews on here are from people that either don't park a boat here, or they associated the RV park next to the marina. They are worlds apart and the RV park is going to be closed soon for a Bayfront Convention center. (I have mixed feelings about that, but we'll see what transpires). I feel very secure and safe all the time with a friendly, security staff that watches the place like hawks. The Galley Restaurant / Bar is a blast with live music 4 nights a week, with delicious and reasonably priced food. (Try the Mahi Fish Tacos, OMG!) South Bay is great for sailing with good, consistent wind, no kelp and very little boat traffic. Also notable is the 24 mile, South Shore bike path that goes all around the bay. Wonderful kayaking, wind / kite surfing, water skiing and bird watching. The duck families are super cute as are the Herons, terns and other birds. Supposedly, there is a turtle sanctuary there some where but I haven't found it, yet. It is probably in the Nature Preserve that is just to the north of Chula Vista in National City. However: There are a few cons worth mentioning: It is a LONG trek to the ocean from here through a long, narrow channel. If your main goal is to get out to the ocean and come back same day, you'll be very disappointed. South bay is SHALLOW! If you stray outside of the channels at lower tide, you'll run aground, quickly. Shoals are everywhere! BE careful! If you want a party atmosphere. Don't be a tenant here. It is quiet and boring. (Except for the really fun bar). But you won't find a lot of people getting crazy and naked on the other boats and docks. Go to harbor Island for that. It seems that this is a place where old boats come to die and there seems to be some sad cases of abandonment. There is a pool and hot tub, but they are located at the RV park next door and always full of people. And, supposedly, the pool and hot tub are going away when they demolish the RV park. If you are looking for a Marina with a great pool, this probably isn't the place. I don't do public pools, so that wasn't a factor for me. Overall: Move your boat here, I think you'll be glad you did! read more

I was a resident at Chula Marina during the pandemic, and all I can say is that the staff went above and beyond to communicate & work with me. The people living at the marina are excellent boat Neighbors--kind, quirky, and fun loving (and always willing to share some booze at 1100 am). The amenities are always very clean (though the hottest showers are at the RV park) & the views are breathtaking. Though I rarely had a security concern, the security was always responsive to my calls re: bumps in the night. I always felt safe & protected. Will miss our floating home & highly recommending giving this oasis a shot. read more

Chula Vista Marina (new owner-Safe Harbor Marinas) is a great place to keep your boat! The staff are always friendly and efficient. I have never had a problem that wasn't resolved quickly and fairly. Bathroom/showers are clean. Laundry is readily available and tidy, as well. Slip fees are reasonable ( you can't beat it). One of the best Marinas I have ever found. I highly recommend. Great marina with just little things that boat owners will appreciate. Small trashcans on the docs to help save some trips since the docs are spread apart. SECURITY IS AMAZING. They are friendly and responsive while also being understanding. The marina staff are welcoming and made this new transition for us easy and painless. It is unfortunate we are not able to stay due to work commitments but we will be back either in travel or maybe residence again in the future. Keep it up and keep showing other marinas the best way to support tenants but remembering they are people not just customers. We appreciate everything you have done for us. It is very beautiful here. A great place for a picnic, a jog, or even just to watch the sunset. I enjoy coming here occasionally. The only downside is I often see and smell people sitting in their cars smoking weed and possibly other substances. read more

Want an experience like mine in which they waste your time with deception and rude staff? If not, I'd truly look elsewhere. 1. Their follow through is non existent. 2. Jeffrey is down right rude. He needs to find employment at a place where irreverence and laziness are acceptable. Oh yeah, it is at Chula -over-crowded-and-over-ambitious marina, that's right...)  3.Good luck trying t o use the bathroom split between so many people, between the rv joint and the marina. (Seriously, they share and it's slim pickins' Im told.) 4. Dog poop everywhere. 5. Lies, lies and more...lies. And who wants that?  It began when the guy on the phone told me one thing, that a 30 ft boat live aboard is fine, ..."just gotta pay for a 33 ft slip to be fair to everyone else.")  Ok, fine. But that is where it also got wacky. After investing TWO days coming out to see the place and talking with residents (and being warned that management is not very competent and to "get it in writing" with them), the right hand made it clear it had no idea what it nor the left was doing. The manager, Dave, who failed to follow up three times, after I called upset when jeffrey re-nigged on what I was certainly told on the phone by a male employee at that marina. He changed it all up and lied. Or either, they are just that flakey and disorganized.  I do not recommend this marina. There are other better ones that people love and where what you see is what you get. That's just good business, but you won't find that here. Update: the incompetent GM who wrote a reply was one of the staff who never followed up. I withdrew my application. You see first hang her style: distraction rather than owning responsibility for their lies, etc. Even more reason to advise readers to steer clear. There is a highly recommended marina not far from them that people love and whose reviews seem to not be fake. Do the math. :) read more

The management of this place is a joke. The could care less about their customers especially in the marina. The dockmaster Mike is rude and completely incompetent. I called him to discuss an issue and he actually hung up on me. I was a tenant here for 3 years. The staff rips you off on utilities and never follows through on what they promise they will do. The maintenance staff is excellent and always working hard to fix things. Management and owners are some of the worst I have ever experienced. Whatever you do don't rent a boat slip or RV space here. Beware management does not like to return phone calls, always in a meeting, I'll get back to you, need to check with someone, etc. Pay extra special attention to your security deposit (They will keep you security deposit with any technicality). For us it was the 30 day Written Notice. They knew we were selling our boat for almost a year. No one ever said anything about a WRITTEN 30 DAY NOTICE, even tho we talked to staff regularly about the sale of the boat. When we told them the boat was moved and tried to turn in the keys they refused to return our deposit since we had not given a 30 day written notice! We assumed all the verbal communication was adequate. They also did not require anything in writing when we left! We even went back to sign something and they had nothing to sign! And to add to all of this the water around the boats is full of garbage, fuel, oil, and who knows what. On a positive note all the tenants are Great! read more

Just sold my boat today that I had docked at Chula Vista Marina. I've had 2 boats there since March of 2019. I loved this marina because it was quiet, clean, secure, easy to get to without traffic 95% of the time and most of all the office staff was always helpful and courteous. The restaurant is great and met some great people there too that I will miss. If I buy another boat, I will definitely choose this marina for my new boats next home. read more

After reading the reviews I'm wondering if the people that gave more than one star have ever been to a nice marina. This one is awful! This local marina offers quite a bit! Everything from great scenery, Saturday morning workout routines, a great route for joggers, and definitely boating! My uncle, cousin, and I went kayaking at about 630am. We got there about 645am and there was only 1-2 other people out. We brought our own kayaks and had a great time! Lines of boats are there and you can read all the awesome names on the boats! When 8am rolls around there are tons more kayaking folks and people bringing their boats out. I couldn't believe how many people that were working out or kayaking at 8am. Get here early to beat the crowds. I've been here before on many family parties and its a great place to hold an event. Lots of green grass and the nice scent of marina in the air! read more

Very beautiful place. Small beach, very small. Has broken glass on it so best to stay off. There's a playground, work out station, kayak rental coming soon, pier for fishing, walking and biking area. It's calm and relaxing. Great for picnics. Would love to come kayaking here sometime. read more

Terrible place if you are a live aboard. The management takes advantage of the scarcity of liveaboard places in San Diego and charge outrageous fees for the permit. Additionally, the electrical charges are very high and although they say they are based on meter readings, no meter reading is provided. Last but not least, they lose tenants' mail regularly. read more

We have had a boat here for 6 years. We have always been impressed with the upkeep and cleanliness of facilities. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If you love birding and kayaking, this marina is the best. When I visit other marinas and come back to Chula Vista I realize how it is more secluded and quiet. Blue Herons nesting close by and Ospreys perching on masts very common. Easy to take a dingy to Loews and have a nice lunch. We have definitely enjoyed staying here. read more

I brought ,my boat my dad gave me last summer to this Marina thinking I was saving money from the Harbor Island Marinas, boy was I wrong. The scam this place pulls is that they charge you liveaboard status just for going to your boat. I was there almost everyday from around 10am until about 2 or 3 sometimes Id even stay till 9-10 at night and come back the next day to do more work to make it sellable cause I cant afford the slip fees, my electric when Id stay a week or two on the boat in Harbor Island was around 40 dollars this Marina gave me a bill for $87 and I spent the night twice in a month. The woman manager is so rude If you want a nice place to keep your boat go anywhere else in San Diego. read more

Turned me and my boyfriend down because we were "too young" per the dock master. We bought a 35 foot boat, which is what the minimum is for a live aboard. This boat was already at the marina too. Survey was perfect. Gave both of our collections of paycheck stubs to prove income. You only have to make 2.5 to 3x more than what the rent costs, which we did. They told us that they denied us because of our income and credit, which is incredibly funny because they didn't run our credit until after a friend of ours went off on the management in which they said they'd review our application again. This is also when he was able to get it out of the management that they turned us down because we were "too young". I'm 18 and my boyfriend is 19. We both hold great, reliable jobs. We were obviously able to have enough income and savings to buy the boat in the first place so it's incredibly insulting that they denied us because of our age. They didn't run our credit till after they said they would "re-review" it. But at this point we went ahead and just applied to the marina next door (California Yacht Club). Told them about the situation and they told us that as long as our credit is good and the survey is good, they could careless about age (obviously as long as you're over 18). Chula Vista Marina also said they're trying to make it a "resort vibe", which I mean come on it's Chula Vista. People go to Mission Bay and Coronado if they want that. There's so many people at Chula Vista Marina that also just live there without paying the live aboard fee, which nothing is being done about. Yet, they turn us down when we were totally okay with paying the fee. I could go on and on but honestly just take your business elsewhere. The staff and management is whack and discriminatory. I also want to add that I'm not new with boats and marinas. My dad and family friends have had boats for years and I've grown up going out on the water. If you don't plan on living on your boat, take your boat to mission bay like seaforth marina or marina village. You'll be much more happy with the management. read more
