Then when we voiced our concerns we were yelled at and told we need to be more supportive to our locally owned business. This place is awesome. Free chips and salsa. I really like the ground beef hard tacos. Unlike most tacos places if you ask for no lettuce or tomato, they added extra beef to fill it up. Went to chulas for the second time to give it a fair chance and we were not too thrilled with it the first time around. Well disappointed again I'm sorry to say The chips and salsa were good but didn't get served them until we asked for them. The meals are pricey and very skimpy. Very little meat in the dishes and just a dollop of cheese. Not at all what we are used to eating at any of the Mexican Resturants we have been to and we have been to many in Florida and New York. Not sure where all of the 5 star reviews are from. We started with chips and salsa that was pretty good. The rest of our meals tasted very bland. Both of our meals included large portions of rice and refried beans but again very bland. There was a Taco Bell across the stteet I wanted to go and get some sauces to try and fix our dinner. Today was my disappointing day with them, we go there as regular customers me and my husband, we usually go there twice a month. The previous waitresses were so nice and food always has been very good..and today we brought my sister from Arizona, we ordered our regulars, I got chile cheese rellenos ( pablanos) my regular dish from them...after I put sour cream on my chiles I realized the cheese in pablanos aren't melt but still cold so I asked the waitress to make sure I get hot ones, I didn't eat anything from the plate , they brought my plate to kitchen and they just over warmed the plate and the cheese melted to a point they are not chile pablanos anymore and beans became too dry, sour cream curdled all over the plate. I called the waitress about this she asked another waiter to come, he laughed at my face said so what ,sour cream is sour cream. I am deaf and I do not speak but I can read his lips, he says he doesn't refund the food, I said I do not want refund but a new plate. He refused to serve me at all, I got real pissed off that I walked out left my husband and sister ate their plates, in end we still paid for my plate that I didn't eat and still they billed us full. This is a new restaurant and my husband and 2 kids and I went there yesterday around 6pm. The place was packed! There isn't really any place to wait for a table, you kind of just stand at the door or at the bar which is kind of awkward. We waited about 5-10 minutes for a table which isn't bad, but once we got a table our waiter was very nice and professional. We ordered our food and the wait for food was almost 30 minutes which for a Friday night I guess isn't too bad. Once we got the food we were very pleased. My husband got the macho burrito which was definitely as spicy as the menu stated which was awesome, and I got the grande burrito which was equally delicious! The only thing I wasn't too happy with is that on the menu it stated that rice and refried beans comes with the burrito. When we got the burrito we realized it was on the inside of the burrito which made it so delicious but I would have liked to have some on the side as well. Overall, Friday nights are packed, but the food is amazing!! Will definitely return again as long as they don't change the way they cook the food!! read more

So we went to Chulas around 8:15 on Black Friday. There were no notes or anything about that day affecting hours. We sat down, they dont have lemon for water, finally got a handful of chips for 4 people and no offer for more, dont offer ala cart for one, he wanted tomales but they said they didnt have any because they were only opened a half a day which made no sense, so of course my sons plate was wasted because he doesnt like rice or beans, I paid $1.00 more for white cheese because I dontvlike their red sauce and only put it on one enchilada, no refills on water, we were rushed it felt like to leave because they turned away two pairs of customers saying they were closed and wasnt even 8:30 and technically they close at 9:30 unless you see on website black friday may affect hours. We went there for my husband's birthday but they rushed to clean the plates off, no refills never asked if we wanted anything else so couldn't even get my husband dessert for his bday. We are new in the area. This place was recommended so last night we decided to give it a try.. when we arrived the restaurant was running on a generator due to power loss. They should have closed the doors and taken care of the customers they had but instead the let us in. PS we shouldn't have gone in. We ordered margaritas and dinners. We were served watered down drinks and boring flat nachos. Then the power went out. So the wait staff was scrambling with what to tally up customer tabs. No electricity meant you had to pay with cash. Our waitress, who was very sweet, came over to us and said the drinks were $7.50 each. For watered down drinks! So I explained to,the young lady that this was our first visit to their establishment, we were new in the area, and since we waited to get a check for,two,watered down drinks that it may be a good idea for them to comp our drinks encouraging us to come back and give them another try. She agreed but said she had to check with management, we waited again, and she came back and said how do you,want to,pay for your drinks? Seriously? I understand the restaurant was losing money due to the power outage. So instead of trying to get us back as regulars, he chose to stick it to us. Not a good way to do business. And finally, this,was the most expensive Mexican restaurant we have been in. Plate of overloaded nachos was 15.95, and fajitas for two was 29 bucks! We will not be returning!!! read more

After reading so many reviews, we were excited to try this place. I can't stress how disappointed we were. I can honestly say, This is the first time in my life (at age 56) that i have sent a meal back because it was so thoroughly inedible. It's pretty hard to mess up salsa, but even that wasn't any good. No flavor, and the chips were stale and cold. We ordered tacos - pretty simple. They were terrifying. The shells were stale, and the ground beef was so greasy they arrived floating in a pool. We also ordered the puercos carnitas. The pork was reminiscent of shoe leather, both in texture and flavor. The beans could have sealed the cracks in my basement foundation, and I'm not sure if it was sand or rice served alongside. We can't attest to the flour tortillas - there wasn't anything edible to put in them. All of that being said, we can end on a good note. The bottle of corona, glass of coke, and the service were superb! But I would have preferred to miss out on those things and enjoyed taco bell, which would have cost a lot less. You could not have paid the $8 Taco Bell would have cost me for this disgusting meal. read more

We have been going to this place since the week it opened and being from Colorado where Mexican food is everywhere I have to say this is pretty good. Since they opened the prices have risen a little but still reasonable. One thing I don't understand is in most sit down Mexican they bring free chips and salsa as soon as you sit down. Tried this place for the first time. Little disappointed. Came in décor was really beautiful music on speakers little loud and place was really spotless. They were 1/2 full little loud inside. So we sit outside. Waitress comes we order 2 margarita's. She says let me ask. Comes back and says they are not going to make anymore it is 7pm. So another waiter comes says yes they will. We get the salsa and chips. Really fresh and good tasting. Margaritas were watered down. While we are sitting outside 2 kids are running around and punching the white banner in back of court yard while parents are inside restaurant. So we ordered dinner. Really great Authentic Mexican food but was very plain no flavor and little expensive for type (beans & rice & chips) and quantity of food. I had to go inside myself and order drink refills twice our waitress was cleaning and turning off tv inside. She comes back and says do you want another drink we are closing. We were only half way through meal. We were going to try the fried ice cream but I guess not. Our bill was almost $90 for 2 people and they are closing up and there was still other people inside. It took quite a while to get our drink order in (like 15 minutes). Food took about a half an hour after we ordered to get to the table. Asked is we could sub the beans for fries with our fajitas and our sever said it wasn't a problem. When we go the bill, there were an extra $8 in various "cheese" and "side salad" charges. When we asked our server what they were about she said that since we got fries she had to just ring in other things in to make up for the fries.... Said she would talk to her manager, and came back with a bill that was $2 less. We left very unsatisfied with the way that was handled.
