5/1/2025 I had lunch at Enchiladas, Mexican restaurant. I ordered two Steak street tacos with an iced tea. The ice tea tasted like mud, so I sent it back and ordered a Coca-Cola. then the steak tacos came and I am sorry to say they might be the worst tacos I've ever eaten in my life and I've had thousands of them. the meat was cubed very small and was like chewing on rubber. I left half of the food on the plate and I wish to date that I would've said something at the time not to get my money back but just to let them know they need to find a new supplier of meat. I will not be going back to this restaurant. In fact, I'm surprised they are still in business. read more

I ordered the taco dinner. Two of the tacos had only a few pieces of meat and no toppings. The rice and beans were about two tablespoons. I left with empty stomach due to the small amount of food! Good food,good service. We came in at an off time- 4 pm on a Sunday afternoon. Brightly decorated. We ordered Chorizo and Cheese dip with tortillas. It came served in a cast iron skillet which helped to keep the cheese melted. Quite tasty and reasonably priced. Their table salsa was flavorful and obviously made fresh with plenty of cilantro. We asked for their spicier salsa which is also freshly made. Just enough bite for us but weenies beware! We both had the rice bowl with chicken: rice, black beans, corn, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and cheese. Very tasty! For dessert we sourced and had the fried ice cream. It was delicious as well although I would like to have just the cinnamon sprinkle fried tortilla without the ice cream- better than a churro!! Overall our experience was good. The only negative is what I complain about with every restaurant with carpet- lose the carpet! read more

Visiting Brooksville for a wedding and after multiple tries to find somewhere unique to eat, we gave up and stopped here. We were glad we did.... The moment we walked in I liked the place - it was quaint, warmly decorated and inviting; very intimate to a certain regard. Though we were taken aback with their policy of charging for extra baskets of chip, we did not let that deter us from finding something to eat. My wife chose their Enchiladas Rojas while I had the Verde version. Her's was sweeter, made with a chocolate-peanut butter concoction she simply loved, and mine was the classic green sauce. Portions were smaller than we're used to back home but the meals we very good. For dessert we shared a dense pice of deep fried ice cream, leaving none behind. Service was attentive, friendly, and chatty just the way I like 'em...Sometimes you just happen across the best of experiences, this was one of them. read more

Brooksville...lots of history in this county seat of Hernando. The downtown section with the old/new courthouse and other government buildings stays busy with the buzz of daily 'governing'. Weekdays the population swells as folks arrive to conduct business or to earn a living. The one thing all visitors to downtown have in common, they gotta eat! What a special place to be for lunch. I enjoy seeing people emerging from within those brick and mortar jurisdictional domains. Kinda like disturbing an ant hill and watching as the workers scurry out. These great representatives of the public spreading out in every direction to find their favorite nearby eatery. Plenty of them land at Enchiladas. Enchiladas Mexican is conveniently located within walking distance of the courthouse. I drove from the 'other' side of town, just to try this place out. I had a nice laugh even as I was entering through the side door. They had a portable sign placed there that said 'Soup of the day - Beer'. I thought "Wow!", I LOVE Beer Cheese soup! I guess my mind overtook my senses, as the sign literally meant Beer, not any type of soup. But, it broke the ice with the greeter and my soon-to-be server Carcy. We were all laughing, but now these two were intriqued about my description of Beer Cheese soup. I'm sure they'll be on the lookout for some of this delicious comfort food. So Carcy brings me the usual chips and salsa. I was pleased to see several different colors of chips in the basket. That shows me a little creativity! And the salsa was excellent! They bring you a bowl of hot and a bowl of mild salsa. I eventually mixed the two together and it ended up just right for me. Nice combination of heat, texture and ingredients. Carcy was an upbeat and bouncy kind of person. I felt welcomed and valued as a guest. With Carcy's expert assistance, I ended up ordering the 'special'. A White Chimichanga for just $8.80! Bring it on! I found the Chimichanga to be an excellent choice! Perfectly prepared with a whole lot of tender chunks of chicken. This deep fried wrapped burrito was great. It was swimming in a sea of creamy smooth cheese...I believe it was a Cheddar cheese mixed with some other ingredients? Along with the Chimichanga you get a side of refried beans, rice, dollops of guacamole and sour cream. I felt the beans were just a wee bit watery, I love when it's more of a paste consistency. And I would have loved more guac! You can 'never' get enough guac.... Now I figure you MUST be wondering, John, where is your usual sidekick fab fiancée?? She's always with you for these reviews and we love reading how you describe her reactions to your latest food finds.... Well, this was a solo trip for me. Just to clarify...Food 5 stars, beer selection 4 stars so should be 4.5. And thats a solid 5 on the food coming from NY so certainly know real Mexican food. Once I got past having to order my Mexican food in english I was fine. The chips came with 2 different salsas. The hot one was fine and was quickly refilled once finished. In regards to my food I ordered my standard Carnitas dinner modified to Queens, NY standards. That means real tortitallas from corn, Latinos would never eat flour once and more friolles instead of rice. Well the carnitas were perfect nice and moist dark meat not dry at all. Together with pico de gallo and sour cream a perfect meal. In regards to beers they do have Negra Model but no Victoria which in my eyes no real Mexican restaurant should be without, hence 4 stars. All together a nice surprise to find this little place in the middle of no where and I look forward to eating here again. read more

We were looking at a few houses in brooksville Friday evening and decided to try a local restaurant there. Loved the live mariachi band! It is a very cozy restaurant. The food was ok. We ordered two chicken hard tacos and a cheese enchilada which also came with a side of regrows beans, rice and lettuce topped with tomatoes. Plenty of food for the price. read more

This place is a gem! It's small, but very well decorated with beautiful murals on the walls. We came in around 3 and were immediately greeted by the friendly waiter, who was Mexican American. Came in after blueberry festival for a quick bite. They were packed to capacity, but we managed to snag a table. Although they were probably as busy as that place could possibly be, all the servers, bussers, everyone - was calm and doing a great job. Food was decent - my nachos were missing a couple toppings, which on a slower day I would gripe about but they were so busy the minor gaffe of missing olives could be forgiven - and the margaritas were handmade. Every last one of them. This led to our second round being very heavy, something I will never complain about. Had a DJ spinning Latin dance outside with an emcee who would occasionally shout at passersby like a strip club DJ. New is not always better. New ownership the waitress said. New menus. 2pm on a Monday, was not busy. I ordered the pick 2 lunch combo. Taco,enchilada,rice,beans. I'm easy to please. However, we ordered a chicken taco salad with rice no tomatoes. First it comes out topped in tomatoes. The waitress returned it corrected. Only to find bonus baked beans in the bottom of the salad, not mentioned on the menu. This is why I request rice with my salad. The waitress when confronted seemed frustrated because as she was saying she thought it came on the salad insinuating I was wrong, she slaps a new menu down to see SHE was wrong.
