This used to be my go-to spot when I was still living in the area, and having tried it again after a year, that first sip reminded me again of why it was my favorite!! It's so delicious that I could not stop drinking it. My order is usually the osmanthus latte with pudding added in, but their oolong is great too. For the introverts, you can just order it at the kiosk- it was a bit more expensive than I remember, with my order coming out to about $10, but it really did hit the spot after being turned off by mediocre bubble tea drinks in other places. While there might be a lot of boba/bubble tea/tapioca in the general LIC area, this is basically the bubble tea shop near the waterfront. There are some other restaurants nearby that will have boba on the menu but I consider that separate from a bubble tea shop whose main or only product is the tea. There is some minimal seating (bar stools) but it's largely a to-go place. The ambiance is clean lines, black walls, white tile etc. Patrons leave napkins/straw wrappers, things can be a bit sticky, and it doesn't seem like this is attended to all that quickly. And it's not like it's busy - every time I go in there it's empty of people. There are 2 self service kiosks to order at and thus you're not really greeted or acknowledged when you enter, which is mostly in line with the nyc norm. The tea itself I think is just okay. It is a bit pricey; everything will run you close to $8 before any substitutions or add-ins. They have some fun flavors like the raspberry hojicha. I do think that the standard bubble milk tea that they offer highlights that the tea itself isn't great quality - it's either oversteeped or just not great quality tea being used. I heard great things about Chun Yang, so I was excited to stop by when I was passing through the area. This particular segment of LIC had a lot of boba shops, and I had actually visited one earlier in the day. The kiosk ordering system makes a lot of sense for me, but I do wish the menu was more clearly displayed in the store. The family behind me looked confused and had to wait to get to the kiosk to decide they do not want anything offered here. The tea came out very quickly after I ordered it, though it was not a terribly busy time when I went, so I did not expect any delays. The tea was really delicious, with bits of lychee floating around an icy oolong tea with crushed ice chips, which made it feel almost like a slush. You could not control the sugar level or the ice level-- I suppose with the lychee flavor syrup and the crushed nature of the ice, this is unavoidable. The store was a little small, with one table for two and a couple of bar seats by the window. It's really a takeout kind of place, not a comfy cafe. I'm excited to see if Chun Yang Tea will expand into the suburb-y areas like many of its counterparts have been trying to! Came here on a Sunday night. I was the first one to walk in with no one inside. I attempted to order at the counter and waited for awhile. No one cared to come even when one of the girl saw me waiting, she completely ignored me. In the meantime a bunch of other people came in and went to the kiosk so I asked one of the employee there if she's taking any orders from the counter and she said no. Great boba tea shop in LIC! Came in on a Saturday night and they were quite busy. There seemed to be lots of orders coming through from food delivery apps. I was initially confused when they didn't really acknowledge my presence when I tried to order at the counter, but then I saw they have a touchscreen ordering system in the back, so would recommend using that. Passed by this place and was super excited to try it out! This was my first time going to Chun Yang though I saw they have other locations as well. I ordered a hot Hojicha latte with boba with 50% sugar. The boba was fine, it skewed more chewy than soft which is more of the Taiwanese "QQ" style. Sometimes I like the boba to be a bit sweeter on its own though the sweetness level of my drink was just right. The latte itself tasted nice but the Hojicha got a little lost in the steamed milk. The decor of this place was really nice and they're supposed to be more of an authentic tea shop with traditional Taiwanese flavors. If I came back, I'd aim to try their tapioca sago (西米露) or purple rice (紫米露) since I think they'd probably make these a lot better. The hot drinks are automatically a large size which is a bit on the pricey side so I'd keep that in mind as well (my drink cost $8+). Overall, I enjoyed my drink I just felt that it was a bit steep for what it was. Would come back to try their other options (in medium size) since I think I'd be happier with how those taste. Also, Chun Yang has a $10 minimum for credit cards so keep that in mind if you're ordering one drink. It's better to have cash handy or you'll likely be ordering a second drink. When I made it over, I was about 15 minutes late from the expiration of the event ticket at 2pm. The staff could not honor the pass and I opted to instead to order a taro tea with bubbles. It was fairly priced, but I did not enjoy the tea. It tasted like it had hardened bits of coconut oil that I was drinking through the straw. New bubble tea shop. The decor is very nice and resembles a traditional Chinese tea shop. We had the brown sugar milk tea and grapefruit green tea. The brown sugar tea was very good with just the right amount of sweetness. Some places make it too sweet. The grapefruit green tea was also good.
