We decided to check out Chuponcito for brunch just because of the name, it made my wife laugh. But after dining here, I can say this place is so much more than just a fun name. The space is warm, cozy, and intimate, not too big, but that just adds to the charm. The lighting and decor make it feel welcoming, like a spot you can relax and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. The food was incredible, fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Every bite had the kind of depth you only get when a kitchen knows exactly what they're doing. My wife, who is very picky with Hispanic food and vocal about it, was genuinely blown away, which says a lot given her deep roots in Mexico. On top of that, the service was amazing. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was just right. This is definitely a place I'd come back to, and one I'd easily recommend to anyone looking for a great brunch, or dinner spot with top-quality food and a welcoming vibe. read more

Would have given five stars but they are still cooking on Teflon which should frankly be banned due to its association with endocrine disruption. Food was delicious though - hopefully they make a change to stainless steel. Ice coffee wasn't great I would stick with a latte instead. read more

Came here for a weekday b-day brunch with my wife and I loved everything about it! Food was awesome - green sauce was perfect balance of acidity, spice, and lightness/freshness. Our entrees - chilaquile and breakfast burrito - were amazing! Horchata latte was the best I've ever had...and I've had a few. Place was very cute and clean, and staff and owners were super nice and professional. They exuded a passion for quality and service that is very rare nowadays. Cutest little place! I am in love with the simple, charming, creative decor. Such thoughtful & lovely details. Banana Flan Latte: Got it decaf & with almond milk, & absolutely loved it! You can taste the good quality coffee (some fruity notes), & their banana flan syrup is homemade & perfect. I asked for less sweet & regretted it a little bit because it tastes so good. Carnitas Eggs Benedict: I don't eat much pork, & they kindly accommodated my request to substitute it for mushroom carnitas, as well as to get it on sopes instead of English muffins (because I'm gluten-free). Best Eggs Benedict I've ever had! I loved the sautéed greens on it, & their take on mushroom carnitas (vegan) is my favorite because it's not too salty like other places. Found this hidden treasure in Aliso. On our way to the beach we had to grab breakfast. I found this on Yelp so we stopped to give it a try. You walk up to order your food then take a seat and they bring it to you. I ordered the chilaquiles and my husband got the papas cargadas. The taste is authentic. I loved the savory chilaquiles and my husband really liked his meal too. The staff and service is very hospitable. The price is average. The little hole in the wall is nicely decorated with nice esthetics. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We will come back and try their dinner menu. read more

I heard about this spot from a friend. Thought I'd stop in for lunch. Ordered the carnitas plate and a beer. First, the food is homemade style, very authentic taste, smell etc. flavors in this plate just so so. Their "hot" sauce really kicked it up a notch. I'd totally go back to try other dishes if it weren't SO EXPENSIVE! For a place that you walk in, up to the counter and order, find a seat and they bring you your food it's VERY high priced. Maybe around here it's the norm but I won't be coming back. My meal, 1 beer, tax and tip was 30 bucks. It was good but it would need to be phenomenal for me to pay that AND go back again and again. Randomly came across this small, hidden gem that I would not have ever stumbled upon had I not seen it on Yelp! Thank you, fellow Yelpers! I can also attest that this establishment serves delicious, high quality food. Chuponcito might be small, but it is really charming and with a heaping amount of "sazon" (flavor) in its cuisine. I was really taken aback. It's hard to find good Mexican food, and this place is IT. We tried the chilaquiles, and holy smokes!! It is delicious and not too spicy! The chorizo sopes are soft with the maza made to perfection! And the carnitas eggs Benedict have such tender, flavorful meat. Even the horchata is wonderful. This is literally my favorite Mexican brunch place from now on. Presentation and quality of the food really blew me away. In all honesty, I'm surprised Chuponcito is not bigger. It definitely has the caliber to be a huge successful restaurant. You can taste authenticity and abuela recipes with each bite. Amazing! Absolutely amazing food! This place easily competes with Laguna's finest Mexican restaurants. We ordered the guacamole, fish tacos, and shredded beef burrito--everything was incredibly flavorful, and the portions were huge. If you're not starving when you go, expect to take some delicious leftovers home (and whatever you do, don't skip the guac!). Tianna, who was working behind the counter, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. She was super accommodating, attentive, and even checked in on us multiple times to ensure we were happy with everything. We left full, satisfied, and well taken care of. We have passed by the local neighborhood restaurant so many times, but finally stopped by for a quick bite. What a delight! Food was amazing - we enjoyed the Tacos Dorados and the Burrito. Incredible! The flavors were complex and so delicious and hardly had any wait time. The staff were welcoming and helpful and attentive to our experience. Came here as a last resort. Went in having low expectations because of the location and type of cuisine. But boy was I wrong! The ambiance , the staff, and the food were all exceptionally great! My friend got a breakfast sandwich and I got the breakfast burrito. Both were a good size and super filling! As for the drinks I was a but disappointed. I got a banana latte and my friend got a rose matcha latte but they just didn't live up to the name. Everything else was so good that the drinks did not ruin the experience:) read more

Wow this place is amazing! We started off slow with a baked good item on the weekend but we are all on board now! Huge fan of breakfast here and we have not had a thing that disappointed at any time of the day. What I love is they take the food seriously. Look in back and the crew are all wear proper chef gear. I've had mixed experiences dining in at this place, but my general perspective is that the food is overpriced for what you get. During my most recent experience, I paid $22 for the elote chop salad after tax and tip. It didn't have a lot of flavour, but it did have cheese, which I wasn't expecting and didn't even think to ask about since it was not listed as an ingredient on the menu. I'm highly lactose intolerant, so I was frustrated that it wasn't communicated this dish has cheese. Even more unfortunate is the fact the cheese was finely grated and sprinkled throughout the salad, so I couldn't just remove it. I used to like this place, but I don't think I'd return unless they improve and update their menu. read more

However, Chuponcito had so many amazing reviews I had to check it out myself. The ambiance was definitely bougie and cute. Def did not disappoint! FAVE ITEMS: - Mango Verde with Shrimp Salad: omg this was so refreshing and DELICIOUS. I loved it so much. The shrimp was grilled to perfection and honestly paired so well with the sweetness of the mango and creaminess of the feta. YUM. - *FREE* chips and salsa: WOW. These were amazing. The chips were fresh and tasted so authentic. The salsa tasted so good and they def used fresh ingredients for this. SERVICE: on point! they made sure to stop by and refill the chips even before you finished them. PARKING: lots of parking in the plaza! Wow!! This place is yummy! You walk up to the counter to place your order, then sit down with a table number and they bring you your food. The place is really cute with a Mexican boho vibe. One tip is to get there before 12:00 for breakfast. No breakfast items are served after 12. There's also places to sit outside. The overhead menu print is small, but there is also menus you can hold and look at. The people who work here are super nice and helpful. I got the egg sandwich. So good . Very fresh. The sauce was very flavorful. The bread was moist yet crispy, with a buttery flavor. My husband got the carnitas eggs Benedict he said it was amazing full of flavor. The carnitas has so much flavor and very tender. The hash browns are crispy on the outside and buttery. The lemonade was tart, with a flowery flavor. The horchata latte was perfect! FOOD I've been to Chuponcito several times and have enjoyed their drinks and food items each time. I'm a big fan of their breakfast foods (which ends at 11am), but lunch is good, too! Today, 3 of us split the chilaquiles (always a good choice) and breakfast burrito with chorizo. The bummer part about breakfast as that you don't get chips and salsa with the meal, but it just happened to be 11am and I was still hungry so I got the enchiladas with shrimp (so good). I got red and green sauce which were good, but next time I would just do the green sauce. DRINKS We got cinna latte (my favorite latte, I would just ask for less sweet next time) and the rose matcha. Finding a brunch place on a very rainy Saturday morning can be challenging, but this place is a hidden gem with spacious interior seating. We tried the enchiladas and the chicken tinga burrito. The burrito was especially delicious and very filling. There may have been a tad too many beans both in the burrito and on the side, but other than that, it was fantastic. The enchiladas (one in red sauce and one in green) were tasty, but average and a quality you can probably find in other restaurants. The horchata was one of the better ones we've had in the OC and the same goes with the iced Mayan Mocha. Both were delicious and not overly sweet. The service is very quick and the chips and salsa were excellent to start. Overall, we plan to come back to try the other brunch items! read more

Found this place on a whim after looking at Christmas lights. The food was so amazing. We ordered the chimichanga, burrito, huarache, and enchilada. All of them were so good. The outside of the chimichanga crispy, light and airy. Filled with shredded beef, beans, and rice and topped with guacamole and sour cream They also serve you chips and salsa. Epic duo. Everything just hits the spot. The service was quick. We received our food promptly after we ordered. Our server was very kind and took care of us. I love this small, charming restaurant. Unfortunately, if you need more salad dressing, there is an extra charge. Another example of poor business relations is I asked for lemonade, but not sure if it was hibiscus or lilac.. instead of lemonade, they brought tea Which I never touched. Then I said I asked for lemonade. He said there will be an EXTRA charge for his mistake!! Too bad because the food is great. The policies are NOT customer friendly. The same thing happened to a friend a few months ago. The chef is great. The servers are kind, but the policies are not diner-friendly. read more
