This is a local gem. It's a quintessential diner and open until 3pm and I believe seven days a week. I usually get the Eggs Benedict as does my wife except she substitutes sausage instead of ham. They have great hashbrowns and what they call "oh those potatoes" which is a green pepper and onion and potato concoction which is also popular. My kids typically get French toast or pancakes and gobble it all down. I feel like the same servers and Cooks have been there since I started going eight years ago. The ambience is what you'd expect with a lot of old pictures on the walls. The last time we went was Monday and it was so busy I couldn't believe it. There was actually about a 40 minute wait to sit down for a party at four. Parties of two were able to sit down a little quicker because they have lots of two tops. I've only ordered breakfast, although they have plenty of sandwiches and salads. I saw a stack of onion rings piled high that looked pretty tasty. The place is such a cute spot. Outside doesn't look so flashy but don't let it fool you. Coming in, the air filled with lively chatter of families and friends over what smells like good home cooking. I loved the decor. (I didn't take photos). It feels like home away from home. Everyone here was friendly. And the staff are so welcoming. The hospitality was beyond. I came here with my mom and we both enjoyed it. My mom had ordered their fresh blueberry muffins and she enjoyed it along with her coffee. I didn't try the muffin this time because I wanted something savory. Next time for sure because it looks delicious. I had ordered the #1 on the menu choice of meat with eggs (any style). I ordered my plate with bacon, eggs over medium, with hash browns styled "Those Hash-browns" which has onions and bell peppers. (Not to be confused with house potatoes fyi). I also had it with a side of toasted sourdough. It had hit the spot for a breakfast plate and the price was very reasonable compared to other breakfast spots. The portions I feel were perfect. I took leftovers home (hash browns wise). I can't wait to come back with more family and friends and be able to just indulge in the yummy items of their menu. 11/10 for me. But what REALLY BOTHERED ME was that I told her server I have a health condition and can ONLY eat SOURDOUGH in case I wanted to eat bread and she brought me this WHITE BREAD. When I asked her please to change it she refused arguing IT WAS SOURDOUGH BREAD. It CLEARLY IS WHITE BREAD. I had to leave it. Right off the bat, what surprised me about the Snooty Fox was it's ambience - it's very old-fashioned american. The chairs are old and madr of wood, the wallpaper is a faded, patterned blue. There's an old, patriotic Americana feel to the whole space - and that's not necessary a bad thing. As for the food, I ordered a salsa egg burrito. It came out decently fast and smelled AMAZING. The portion size is more than generous, I didn't even realize the hash brown potatoes the menu mentioned it came with were on the side and not just in the burrito The inside of the burrito is completely filled with egg. My all time favorite is the garden omelette, adding ham with the sourdough. The hollandaise sauce on the top is so good. Other options are also tasty. They've also got a kids menu with some pretty good options. Service is generally pretty good, though they are always slammed on the weekends so be prepared to wait and deal with that. We started calling ahead and getting our stuff to go. The location has that small town diner feel, that has been around since the 80s. By the cash register there are so many pictures of kids and families that have been regulars over the years. It was an good experience overall, a very convenient breakfast spot right of the I-5 and Lake Forest Dr. Seating inside only. Clean restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. It was 2 of us, around 8 am. Not busy, we left around 9 am, and it was pretty busy. Staff could've been a bit more friendly, especially since they were not really busy around 8 am. They seemed to be very friendly with their regular customers though, not so much with new ones like us. Food was good. A bit pricey I would say. I had the Foxy scramble ($17), but the portions are definitely worth it, and the food is delicious. I didn't give them 5 stars because of the customer service. I'm happy to pay for expensive food if the ambiance is good but this was not. The most alarming thing was the decor and cleanliness of the restaurant itself. There is visible dust on the decor and walls and the outside tables and chairs look like they're from 1995. With these prices, surely the owners could spring for some more appealing furniture. I had brunch here with my mom and wife. I ordered the eggs florentine, my wife the French Toast and my mom the eggs overeasy with hash browns and sausages. Of the three dishes, I thought the eggs florentine was the best: lots of spinach and hollandaise sauce with the poached eggs. The hash browns were called "those potatoes" on the menu as green peppers are added to the dish. (It's a signature twist on hash browns at the restaurant.) The French Toast and the eggs overeasy with sausages were solid dishes but nothing too special. Our waitress was friendly and efficient --- and very busy as the restaurant was packed. The ambiance was that of a packed, very busy and popular breakfast, brunch and lunch place. It truly depends the kind of person you are. I didn't adore it but i definitely see the appeal. I got a patty melt with extra onions and potato salad. I also got a side of macaroni salad. My husband and I shared some fries and onion rings while he had a huge meatball melt. I loved the patty melt. It was really filling and greasy and cheesy and savoury. The potato salad as well, perfect texture and taste. And the onion rings were amazing. I very rarely like onion rings as it's always a toss up on if you get good onion rings or just a mouthful of batter and nothing else. These were perfect. Crispy and balanced and sooo good. On the flip side of things, the macaroni salad was meh. Not my thing. And to add to that, my husbands sandwhich was truly too much. According to him, it was so delicious but the bread got soggy and was falling apart as he ate it. If that's your thing, go ahead. For the most part the food was delicious but extremely rich. Breakfast is served all day and besides breakfast they have a nice variety of sandwiches and diner options that hit the spot. We typically order the pancakes which are plate sized, super fluffy, and dense. The deep fried french toast has the perfect crunch and doesn't deflate. They cook eggs to order perfectly everytime. I love their roast beef sandwhich with hatch green chili and tomatoes paired with the crunchy onion rings. The staff is awesome, fast, and thoughtful. There tends to be a tiny wait on the weekends but I've never waited longer than 20min. Ambience is awesome for fun loving groups or solo sessions. For reference I give Denny's and IHop 1.5 stars. The table we were seated at wasn't fully cleared yet and the check from the last party was still at the table. The space is a bit tight so as to fit lots of tables but clearly a popular spot! They used to have the most delicious spinach quiche, (hint to bring it back,) but they added new other things to the menu; such as a chorizo egg breakfast. They are keeping up with the times, and the menu is reflecting this. This family owned restaurant, has generational families frequenting it. When we came, they seemed really understaffed or just didnt care that they didnt wipe down the table from the last party and didnt clean up from the last bill. They dont make their own salsa for the burrito. It all tasted like jarred tasteless salsa. They put so much that it turned super mushy. If they do make their own, they definitely aren't using fresh food.. Their biscuits weren't that big. No description of "that potatoes" which is really just hashbrowns with bell peppers, which weren't that tasty anyways. Theyre good for really large portions, so if youre thinking more of the bang for the buck type of deal, then this is the spot. They used a lot of oil that my digestive couldn't deal with. The gravy was probably one of the best that ive had in a long time but not the saving grace that will make me a repeat visitor. They have been around a long time and the locals seem to like it a lot. It's honestly been years since I have been here, and I only know that I had that breakfast because I had written "I had the snooty" before getting distracted by something and not finishing the review at all. I don't remember what it was like inside, but their menu is big and they have kids options, so a family friendly vibe is probably what was up. I'm giving them 4 stars because I said "the service was alright" at the beginning of this review. Only alright meant I wasn't entirely happy with whoever my husband and I had been assigned to on this visit.
