Went in late in the afternoon and was fortunate to grab a French baguette. It was delicious and the next day, had a nice chewy crust on it. The lady behind the counter was helpful. I don't know if she's normally in the back, but she was very informative about the ingredients they use. I would keep going back for this baguette if I could. For $6, it's definitely a treat. I wish I could get one everyday!
My daughter wanted a chocolate croissant for her birthday breakfast, so I went to Chaupain to pick up a pain au chocolat. While I was there, I also bought a jalapeño cheddar croissant, spinach cheese croissant and a slice of carrot cake. The croissants were good, especially since I heated them up before eating. The carrot cake was OK (they have better pastries in the case). Glad to have this bakery nearby! Unlike some other places, I haven't encountered any long lines and there's easy parking in the lot.
Chaupain Bakery is a hidden gem in Laguna Woods. Their pastries are really fresh and like a little taste of France in every bite. We got the strawberry envelope and Nutella pastry. They were both great with flaky pastry that melts in your mouth. The strawberry envelope was the star with the fresh strawberries and creamy custard. The service was impeccable with Bell and Charisse. They had great recommendations and even gave us a few extra pastries! Super kind!! Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. It's a must try.
It had been more than three years since I last stopped here. This place has high-quality ingredients and heavenly pastries. I ordered the French breakfast wrap which had harissa and cream cheese in it. The cream cheese in a wrap was new for me. I ate the sandwich with salami and arugula- so fresh! I bought some pastries and they were so light and tasteful. Lots of outdoor seating and friendly employees.

We came across this bakery while exploring downtown San Clemente. It's cute and French inspired, and I appreciate that they make their bread fresh. While I didn't sample any of their baked items this time around, they did look good. I came in because I was in the mood for a cappuccino. I ordered from Angus (who was cheerfully greeting everyone who came through the door!), and while they don't make cappuccinos, he was nice enough to make me a latte with extra foam on top. It was good, no complaints!
Large portions, wonderful selection of cheeses, bakery items, drinks etc. really loved the Quiche!
We've been remiss in writing a review for our visit on 2/25/26. We came for breakfast in the morning and just warmly greeted us when we came in. He was so friendly! They weren't very busy at the moment so we had a little time to chat. We ordered a bacon leek and mushroom quiche with a side salad mocha's, and two chocolate ELFROY croissants. Since we're older, we don't eat as much as we used to, so we told Justine we would split the quiche. He brought out the quiche, the salad and bread split beautifully on two plates. We so enjoyed our breakfast! Later, he came out to check on us and shared his favorite raspberry chocolate bread with us. It was delicious. We will definitely be back every time we're in California for a visit. This is our can't miss spot!
My visit turned out to be such a pleasant surprise! I stopped by over the weekend and tried the Pistachio Chocolate Croissant. This is inspired by Dubai chocolate and is only available on weekends. The flavor of the chocolate shell and pistachio cream was well-balanced, it was not overly sweet. I also got the pistachio caramel pastry which was topped with a caramel-flavored cream. This leaned sweeter than the croissant but was also good. I was also surprised to receive a Strawberry Envelope on the house. As for the space, it's bright and clean. There's seating both inside and outside, with plenty of outdoor tables, and the counter-style ordering makes service quick and easy.

Service was great. The pastries were placed neatly in a large brown box. I got the Dubai Chocolate croissant. The croissant was flaky and filled inside with a pistachio cream. It was a bit much for me. I was missing the kataifi crunch. Nonetheless, the rest of my family loved their treat! We will be back!
Doing the SD-LA drive again and made the rest stop here. Picked out more croissants, a cheese pastry, Danish, and a raspberry cake shaped like a heart for informal CNY gathering at grandpa's house. Cake was a big hit with everyone and we always regret not getting more pastries lol.

Chaupain's croissants and pastries never cease to amaze. So so flaky and crispy! My go-to and an absolute must try for anyone who loves French bakeries. My family loves the spinach cheese and mixed berry croissant. They have a variety of croissants, tarts, cakes, quiches, sandwiches - and entree items like French onion soup, and the sunrise sandwich which are both very good. The Laguna Hills branch is a very small storefront with some patio seating. The staff are always so polite and friendly! read more
The staff here are so nice! They have a good selection of mouthwatering pastries to choose from. I came here after lunch during the weekend and they still had a decent variety to choose from. Their Mille fuelle is delicious, just wish part of the pastry wasn't overcooked a bit. But overall yummy! Kougn amanns were decent as were the!other pastries. 10/10 would come here on a regular basis if I didn't live 45 min away! read more
Picked up a pistachio croissant and took it to go and it was absolutely delicious. The outer layer had a very nice crisp to it, the pistachios complement very well, and overall this was absolutely satisfying to eat. It had the perfect level of crunch and flakiness to it while maintaining a consistent pistachio filling. Best part is that the pistachio wasn't overwhelming and did not overtake the whole croissant. The workers were nice and friendly and the experience overall was great! Will be coming back when I'm in the area. read more

It had been more than three years since I last stopped here. This place has high-quality ingredients and heavenly pastries. Chaupain Bakery always delivers when it comes to their coffee drinks and baked goods. This is a little location with everything you need from it and more. Some of the more popular items may be sold out if you go closer to the closing hours so always keep that in mind. I had tired their Salted Caramel Cold Brew and the seasonal Peppermint Mocha for the drinks along with a couple pastries including the Pistachio Eclair. As expected the quality of the drinks and baked items were great but what made it better was the service as well. Everyone was nice and helpful. There is seating outside where you can enjoy the open air and your drinks. Just fix the dam entrance door as it knocked my drink over and I know I'm not the only one it's done that to. read more
Always have to stop buy here for their amazing pastries and croissants! I got my usual mixed berry bateau, but this time I went during lunch time so I wanted to try their sandwiches. The smoked salmon tartine was delicious and fresh, the baguette was perfectly crunchy. I also tried the Parisian sandwich and the jambon sandwich. The Parisian sandwich had a great mustard vinaigrette on it that I felt the jambon sandwich was lacking. The staff here is always so friendly, they definitely make you feel at home and are always open to giving recommendations. We went back today after a few years because we remembered how good the pastries were and 2 years later they still don't disappoint. I got the strawberry cream envelope and it was delicious! My boyfriend got one of the focaccia sandwiches and it was good. Needed a bit more flavor but overall it was delicious and we would come back! read more
My friend took me here for a morning treat. Great croissants and quiche but a bit pricey but normally priced for the area. Prices weren't really written anywhere so beware. I looked online thinking the quiche I got was 9 dollars but it was actually 14 since it's a meal that comes with as I side salad. I got the mushroom bacon leek quiche which had a thick and crispy layer of Parmesan cheese on top. Very cheesy and the Parmesan and egg were the only things I could really taste. The side of baguette bread I got was really good thought. The baguette had a crunch exterior and a pillow soft interior. The taste itself tasted butterly and honestly a bit on the saltier side Had a bite of the feta and spinach croissant and pistachio croissant. The feta and spinach had a lot of spinach which I enjoyed since most places don't really stuff their crossaints and are feta heavy. The pistachio croissant is a must get, packed with a nutty pistachio filling it was the best bite. I also got the Mango coconut croissant but it was just okay and a bit small for 5.50 almost. Would definitely come back if I were in the area for the pistachio croissant again. read more

Badiss, was very welcoming and told me about the different pastries. A delicious looking mini chocolate pumpkin cheesecake. Pretty tart and cream filled croissants which were delicious!! Bakeries are one of my favorite places and bakeries that have a large selection is even more special. Chaupain offers a large selection of breads, pastries and desserts. They have a food menu also. Their sample breads come in huge pieces. I had three samples and I'm pretty sure it's the equivalent of one slice of loaf cake offered at most coffee shops. We picked up a good sampling of what they offer. Casual. Good service. It's always hard to decide... Please come and create your own adventure. read more

Chaupain is one of my fav bakery in town...They always have fresh baguettes and when you eat, you dont feel heavy this is where I say this bread doesn't have preservatives and its freshly made....They also have a menu and cozy patio to order your food and enjoy beautiful sun under orange umbrellas....The service is always great in this location. Everyone is super welcoming and friendly....They also have yummy patisseries and good cafe...today i came for baguette and aa always i got freshly made one...I love their bread...they also have different dips for bread...Very delicious!!!! Chaupain bakery has turned into one of my favorite stops for French baked goods. The breading is flaky, buttery and utterly delicious! What I especially like is that the custard used is light and not overwhelmingly sweet. Highly recommend trying all of their baked goods! read more
What a lovely bakery right near the Laguna Hills Tesla supercharger station. I'm glad I decided to stop by out of curiosity. I have seen Instagram videos about them for their Newport Beach location so I was happy to find one nearby. The parking is free right in front of the store and there are several outdoor seating available with shades. It offers both breakfast and lunch menu items as well as grab and go bagged bread, cookies, loaves, etc. The display stands has loads of both savory and sweet pastries and cake options. I think I want to try their sandwich with smoked salmon or tomato / mozzarella/ caprese like sandwich the next time. I am so glad I decided to ONLY get half a dozen of items today + a breakfast wrap. The total came to $68+ after giving a 15% tip. I must warn you that the service speed here is very slow. I would not visit if you are in any sort of a hurry or need to be somewhere in the morning. I arrived shortly after 7:30am and did not leave until after 8am. You can queue up and wait in line but they will process regular customers there first. I ended up having to wait for 2 customers who came well after me just to complete my order and finish the transaction. All in all, I thought the breakfast wrap was worth the wait. The eggs were fluffy and the seasonings just right. The quiche came with salads and the breakfast had side potatoes and fruit cups. The goodies I purchased were also fresh, flaky, and delicious. In sum, I think this is a great spot to visit if one is in no rush or place an order to-go ahead of time. Otherwise, the area offers plenty of just as delicious and wonderful bakery/ cafe elsewhere. read more

We love it here! Today we stopped in one of our favorite bakery café restaurants ! We had wonderful salads, the dressing was delicious, I like everything in my salad so there was fresh garden tomatoes, leafy varieties of salad, & onions. The most delicious thing there today for me, was the spinach quiche. It had a nice flaky crust, delectable cheese, and flavorful spinach. We had a fancy coffee, not sure what the name of it was, it had an orange zest to it, I believe. The manager here is a storehouse of information! Her customer service formula is to be kind, loving and appreciate each and every customer. She knows all the ingredients, of each and every item, plus remembers the patrons' names, and acknowledges them as soon as they enter. In conclusion, take a look at the wonderful photos, because a pictures worth 1000 words as they say, And then YES you'll understand why this bakery receives five stars! read more

Such a great bakery and cafe! Love the vibes and interior of this place, has good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. I got the spinach and cheese croissant and really enjoyed it! It had just the right amount of filling and I loved how crispy the croissant was, it was very flaky! The top also had a strong taste of everything bagel seasoning which tasted really good. My friend got the cinnamon cream cheese pastry and that was great as well. Everything is super fresh and crispy which I love. They offer samples and it was a pleasant surprise when we got both pastries on the house for this visit! read more
I read the positive reviews about this place and wanted to visit it for quite some time. It is located in Laguna Hills near the DMV, in fact, if you glance up the hill, you can see the nervous faces of those waiting for their driving test. Once you enter, the owner Annie goes out of her way to greet you and make you feel welcomed. She asked if it was our first visit? She was so warm and kind. It was like arriving home after a long trip. The food was good and so was their latte. They built a patio where parking used to be. I told my son who came with me, it doesn't get any better than this! Sun shining, wonderful pastry, delicious coffee is the best it can be. This is a very special place. If I lived closer, I would be here more often and check out their menu items. Thank God for French bakeries! Time to slow down and enjoy life! read more

Butter!!! The best crusts that I've ever had. It's delightful and crunchy, and it smelts good. It doesn't taste like American traditional pie crusts (eg. apple pie), it doesn't taste any shortening/margarine/lard. Give it a try.…
