This is one of the few times I've been hesitant to leave a review because I don't want a secret spot to become busy, but sunny up cafe definitely deserves more attention. There's some real talent and creativity going on in the kitchen. Gas station food has no right being this delicious and the fancy presentation and plating was a pleasant surprise. There are parking spaces around the edge of the gas station or a few somewhat cramped parking spots right in front of the entrance. You can enter through either door and the cafe is 4 small tables at the back of a gas station. You order at the counter and after we were seated we got some freshly fried chips along with a delicious bean dip. The breakfast burrito is definitely a contender for the best in Orange County. I went with bacon and sausage and the combination of meats, sauces, and potatoes was perfect. It had a great balance of flavors and textures and managed to be decadent without being overly fatty or saucy. The grilled exterior and presentation added to the experience. Salt levels and seasoning were great for all the ingredients and the sausage was particularly good in the breakfast burrito. Their eggs Benedict was also well executed with the poached eggs perfectly cooked and an excellent hollandaise sauce. This place is a bit out of the way so I also got a couple of tacos to go because I was too full to eat anymore. They have both larger tacos as well as street tacos. I got the larger asada tacos and they had too much meat for my preference. The meat was delicious as was the salsa from the self serve salsa bar. While this cafe doesn't have the ambience(or the high price tag)of a trendy brunch spot, the food can definitely compete. read more

A café inside a gas station?! Don't let that throw you off. The food was amazing, and the presentation was surprisingly beautiful. The service at Sunny Up Cafe was just as impressive I can honestly say I was blown away. The staff were incredibly helpful with recommendations, and we ended up trusting them completely. I ordered the chilaquiles with red sauce, while my partner had the green sauce version both had an authentic Mexican flavor and were excellent. We also shared sides of black beans and potatoes. The other couple with us ordered the breakfast burritos, which were a very generous size (check out the photos!). Overall, I'd definitely come back for breakfast when I'm in the area. Parking is a bit limited since the café is located inside a gas station, but don't let that stop you from enjoying a delicious meal. read more

I was craving chilaquiles for breakfast and did a quick search on my Yelp app. Many Mexican restaurants popped up, but this one caught my eye because it appeared to have excellent reviews and it was located inside the Chevron gas station mini mart! The cross streets are RSM Pkwy and Alton Pkwy in Foothill Ranch. I checked their menu online and decided to order pick up to go. I ordered the chilaquiles and chose rib eye for my protein, red sauce and my eggs over easy for $12.99. Yes you read that right! I couldn't believe how reasonably priced all of their items were! One thing to note is that they do charge a service fee. I'm not sure if it's a flat fee or a percentage of the total cost, but mine came out to $2.50. Nevertheless, $16.50 is a great price for chilaquiles! It took around 20 min for my food to be ready. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and offered me a free hibiscus tea drink since it was my first time there! The chilaquiles came with queso fresco, pico de gallo, sour cream, avocado & onions. It also came with potatoes & beans. And let me tell you... they were one of the best chilaquiles I've ever had! The red sauce was so delicious and all of the ingredients came together perfectly. My only wish is that the corn chips didn't get soggy so fast, but that's a minor thing. Daniel was a great host. I had two street tacos. Al pastor was delicious and so was the carne asada. I was gifted a black bean tostada this was perfect. I added a mix of the habenero and tomatillo salsa. My mouth is still tingling. They have a high end coffee machine and the coffee is HOT and perfect. Picnic tables to sit on. More of a take out crowd. I don't know why I only think of them when I'm having my car repaired. read more

This place was so good! Not your "girly brunch place" more like a delicious very clean and polite truck driver spot with trendy GREAT tasting food and coffee. We found the place after going on a nice hike at Whiting Ranch (easy 5 mile) and then walked over to Sunny up. We probably would have left if we drove but it's a good thing we didn't drive. If you live in the area you are lucky- I would probably be door dashing every day. The price was good and the portions large. The guy at the cashier was also very friendly. Sunny Up Cafe is located inside the Chevron ExtraMile mini mart, where Charro used to be. It has a limited menu that I would describe as Am-Mex. There are omelettes, pancakes and French toast, as well as burritos and chilaquiles. Most items are $15. It does offer a couple daily special items for less. It doesn't have many tables like a diner such as Denny's. You order from the counter first then find a table to sit down to eat or take it to go. Basically a place for a quick meal. read more

My friends recommended this place as a new spot for us to try out. It's located within the ExtraMile gas station and it just recently opened. For the place to be located in a gas station, I wasn't expecting not only the food to taste that good but I didn't expect the portion sizes to be that big either!! I only paid about $5 for my taco and it filled my entire plate and my appetite. The woman who was helping to serve was on top of her game! The moment I came in, she greeted me with a Good Morning and a smile. After taking my order and serving the other girls, she was still so attentive and friendly and accommodating. I wish I got her name, but I wanted to say THANK YOU for your kindness (I'll get your name the next time I come in!) Overall, for the first time, I give it a 4/5! Stopped in at the recommendation of a coworker. The place did not fail to impress with the food. Small little spot hidden inside the Chevron gas station. Two street tacos pastor and asada, and the chiliquias. They tossed in a tostada on the house. Beans were flavorful, the meat was perfectly cooked with no traces of gritty fat. This little restaurant was such a find. We dined in and the service was exceptional. While it *is* in a gas station, it had several very clean little tables that could sit 4 or so to sit at. The food was brought to our table and we were even given water glasses. The real treat is the food. The menu was large and the prices were excellent. The portions were HUGE which we were not expecting, but were pleasantly surprised by. Now wake can eat their delicious food for multiple meals. The food was exceptional! Mistakes happen, dirty rag, dirty spoon, forgot to clean a station, or even bad quality of ingredients can be missed. But unfortunately today I had to throw up mid breakfast burrito. It tasted off then it got worse. My body said stop eating and throw it up. So I did. I felt fine afterwards absolutely normal. I had a normal week and ate my normal meals that I would cook. I didn't drink or go out the whole week. So I am 100% that I was delt a bad burrito. I wasn't looking for compensation I was looking to make sure it was safe for others to eat. I called to give them heads up with my burrito and what I had experienced and told them to double check their product and inspect their kitchen because I don't want anyone else getting sick. Writing this post due to lack of response or care of. They questioned me "are you sure it was the burrito?", "thats strange everything was made fresh", "you sure you got sick because of of the burrito". Trying to place doubt or maybe calling me a liar, all I wanted was the food to be safe no refund required.
