The staff is generally nice but overworked. Several slips in care occurred but one was unacceptable and caused me long term problems. One night my Dad needed help going to the bathroom and no one came. After 3 hours, he couldn't hold it anymore and wet himself in the bed. When the morning staff came in, he was wallowing in pee. The experience was obviously humiliating. Devastating to his long term care needs, he now refuses to be " put in a home" and will only return to his house. He will not even consider places outside The Moorings.

They take such good care of their residents, They get to know the families by first name. Kept me updated at all times. They helped me have a better understanding of Dementia and the behaviors that come with it. Gisela and her staff deserve a metal, they are all so compassionate. The last few months she was in hospice (Suncrest Hospice) Red contacted me weekly and her hospice nurse Gloria are the best of the best. Gloria took such good care of her. Dressing her up so pretty, lipstick and little color on her cheeks. The day she died she looked so beautiful, you never would have known she was 96 years old. She went very peacefully and I know deep down she appreciated each and everyone of you at the Waverly by making the end of her life so wonderful. Thank you, Susan S

Their willingness to give of their time and attention, while remaining infinitely patient, is remarkable. The level of care provided by the Certified Nursing Assistants is exceptional. While occasional staffing issues occur, i.e., delays in dispensing medications, they are resolved quickly. Keeping over 100 residents satisfied with their meal service is a challenge, but a recent change at the Head Chef position seems to be a good first step towards improving the quality and variety of food offered. Overall, Plum Creek Supportive Living is a facility that provides those age 65+ with a safe and active environment.

The only good thing about the facility is my grandmother's apt., other than that the facility is run down, short staffed, poor food and the nurses are unfriendly or helpful. No one seems to know what the other person is doing. It was an awful experience therefore please look at other places to place your loved one

Caring.com put Harbor House in touch with me and from the moment I spoke with Savannah, the executive director, I knew this place was special. Savannah actually did the assessment at the big, fancy, expensive nursing home and confirmed what I already suspected. We moved her out of there and Savannah actually drove out there and helped me move her stuff and my mom (I was visiting mom out of town). Over the next few days, I got a very up-close look at Harbor House and how the staff interacts with their residents. I popped in at unexpected times and walked through the adjacent buildings. I never saw a deviation from the excellence of care I saw the first time - not even once. I never saw residents mistreated or spoken to condescendingly, like I did at the other place. The caregivers are amazing women. Sam, Becky, Brittany, are really hands on nurses. Sam spent tons of time with me, discussing my mother's medications. The doctors call you and I spoke with Dr. Ernst about my mom for an hour! I couldn't even get the doctor at the big, fancy place to return my call! The place is small and it's warm and cozy - like a previous commenter said, it's not like an institution at all. It's like a home. My mom has an adorable sunny, private room with her own bathroom. She's always got someone there to help her. All I can say about this place except is that it's exceptional. I have learned that big, fancy nursing homes are usually understaffed and can't manage the needs of their patients. This place CARES for their patients. I don't need crystal chandeliers and big lobbies. I need individualized care with people who treat the elderly like the human beings they are. Harbor House does this. The owner of this facility needs to be very proud of his staff and his philosophies. I hope they never change. Amazing place.

It is comfortable for guests visiting loved ones, and the comfortable lounge areas make you forget that you are in a medical facility at all. The food is also good, though lacking of salt (cardiac diet after all) but still plated restaurant style, and inviting to patients. The rehab specialists are positive and interact well with patients. There should be more nurses and CNAs though available to help. My mom was pretty high functioning, I would have been worried if she wasn't because it takes awhile for them to answer their call button. Some of the rooms are far from the nursing station, and that concerns me because what if someone falls, and no one knows. It takes 15 minutes for someone to respond to the call light, that felt disconcerting to me.
