I love that it's a local business with fresh ingredients but it is quite spendy making this self proclaimed "community gathering place" unaffordable for lower income residents of the community. But they do support to hunger relief non-profits so the poor can't eat at their restaurant but they help the poor.... $3 for a donut $15-$17 for a breakfast sandwich. Saturday brunch. This place is very very loud. Like a college dining hall My son's Bloody Mary was barely drinkable and we had them all over the world. Loaded with taheen and parsley. My blueberry pancakes were cooked in an odd tasting oil. His avocado toast was colorful but nothing exceptional. Beef barley soup lacked flavor and was lukewarm. 18% was added to the check for servers. I'm all for servers getting paid fairly but other than bringing our food and clearing dishes they don't do a lot. Food price was ok just not that great tasting. They need to use a different oil to make pancakes and have a mixologist show them some decent Bloody Mary concoctions. read more

Absolutely LOVE this place. We've been multiple times since they opened and are thrilled to be supporting such an awesome restaurant in our own neighborhood. The breakfast is amazing, but I'm excited to have finally tried their dinner offerings. We had been so excited to try Churchill St. after hearing wonderful things about it, but were very disappointed with our experience. Any restaurant that takes reservations and charges $25-$30 for entrees has no business using a counter service model. The lovely ambience of the restaurant was quickly killed when, after we were seated at our cozy table, we had to get up and go order at the counter. We were told that if we needed anything to flag down a staff member. Is there a reason why those staff members could not also take orders at tables? The fried chicken sandwich looked great, but it contained unappealing dark meat (this was never specified on the menu description). The fries with the sandwich were a McDonald's clone; something more unique was expected at a place like this. The mussels were generous and good, but not the best we've eaten, and the bread that accompanied the mussels was slightly burnt. On the plus side, the restaurant is has a great aesthetic and is beautifully decorated. We have also tried the donuts and pastries before and they are terrific. Hopefully the management realizes that the counter service model simply does not fit this type of dining experience, especially now that this is one of the nicer restaurants in the northern suburbs. read more

I was able to find this gem thanks to fellow Yelpers! Nestled slightly outside of the twin cities market, this is a lovely establishment with an abundance of parking. I would consider this a versatile restaurant because you can go with a big group, be on an intimate date (there is an edgy bar), be with family for treats and desserts or even go solo and read a book while ordering brunch. This is a cafeteria style spot where you are provided a table number upon entering and menus. When you are ready to order, you go up to the cashier to place your order. While this might turn some away, I promise it was nice to have someone walk us to a table and let us know what to do as opposed to figuring it out on our own (and set all our jackets down). Fun fact: The self-served water station carries sparkle water on tap. I went for brunch and had the breakfast sandwich and pineapple juice. It was plenty! Very filling. My sister and I split the Caramelized Honeynut Squash. Not what we were expecting at all in terms of presentation but it was a lovely surprise! The service was quick, kind, helpful and considerate. Felt physically sick after eating here. Saw a staff person (greyish hair with a bandana?) wipe her mouth and then handling drinks, so that was gross. Chicken sandwich was so greasy that the bun was falling apart! Flavor was nothing special. For $17 dollars, it was not worth it. The salad that came with it was very tasty but overdressed and almost wet. Portions were appropriately sized. Tasty focaccia but the crushed tomatoes that come with it tasted metallic like it came from a can. It was almost worth $10 which they charge for it. Drinks were overpriced for the quality. Mediocre old-fashioned for $12. It has a nice ambience- nice lighting and decor. I cannot recommend this place but even with the bad experience, I do want to give this place another try as it was recommended by a colleague (who recommended the breakfast/brunch). Instead of having a service charge, just build it into your prices. It looks terrible for patrons to have to pay taxes on a service charge, in addition to the meal and drinks. I love the food at this place, but I think the hostess is timid and awkward, although nice. We were seated at a table, but then asked them to move us to a booth so one of my party could hear better. They were very accommodating to this request. Our waitress was pleasant, but she left us alone mostly during our meal. I think that was fine for the most part. I feel like the decor could use a bit more color. The table and its setting are bland. The wine and food was very good. My companion was surprised by the added 15% tip. I think it shows a lack of trust in customers, and honestly discourages a higher tip. Are there a lot of people who don't tip at all? We have visited a few times and absolutely loved this place. It is a bit unassuming from the street, but take the journey! Parking seems to get more and more limited (mostly from the museum next door) but it seems busy enough! Overall, we have enjoyed our meals there. They try different daily specials (posted at the front) and they seem enjoyable! We were particularly glad to see a corpse reviver show up!! We give kudos to the chicken sandwich and the pickle platter. The mushroom french onion soup is great! We found that the price is a bit inconsistent for what you get-- some items are great/fine! Others, namely a $35 (or so) pork chop... was good but not worth it. Additionally: they do not always say when the kitchen is closing. We have arrived twice to find out the kitchen was closing in five minutes.. This could be annoying to some people. Overall, we have minor issues. The food, service, and ambiance are all great. I ordered a coffee and a pastry and they offered to warm up the pastry, which enhanced its flavor. On another occasion I had the breakfast burrito which was also tasty. It's the type of burrito you eat with a fork and knife in my opinion. It is a pleasant place to meet with friends and colleagues for breakfast or lunch. I have not yet been there for dinner. I saw both younger and older couples having breakfast there and older gentlemen meeting for coffee. There are various options for seating. They have a room in the back which was occupied by a party. In the main dining room there is a large meeting table along with smaller tables, booths, and half booths. Many people do not realize that they open at 9am. We're so excited to welcome Churchill St into this area of the suburbs! We have had a fantastic experience getting to know this restaurant. Reminiscent of chill SoCal upscale counter-serve restaurants we've visited, Churchill St focuses on bringing local ingredients together to create delicious dishes. Our first time here I enjoyed the Croque Madame. The brioche was rich, the ham a light smoky flavor, and a perfectly cooked sunny side up egg completed the dish. I could have used a little vinegar component on the side to relieve my palate from the richness, but the glass of Sav Blanc did a fair job at that. We also tried the Avocado toast. We neglected to order a poached egg for the top, but the dish was great. A little heavy on the pea tendrils, but that's okay at the same time; better to have a little too much than just a few sprigs. We're really impressed with this experience and look forward to returning regularly! Well done, Churchill St! GF, DF, and egg allergy make breakfast places especially hard for me to eat at, but they were careful to repeat my order back to me and gracious to sub out avocado for the egg and bacon for the sausage in their sweet potato hash! I was able to enjoy an oat milk latte that was so smooth and creamy! Love the local products and high quality ingredients that you can taste the freshness! My whole family loved their meals: blueberry pancakes, breakfast burrito and açaí bowl. Great vibe too! Light, modern decor and the staff was friendly, helpful and even the manager brought my order to make sure it was all going to work with my food allergies. So impressed! I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant of this type in Shoreview. Shoreview not usually known for above average locally owned restaurants. Our experience was above average. A good selection of healthy dishes. We sat indoors due to the outside area being full. The inside has an urban contemporary feel. The process is for the host to seat you and give you the menu. You then go to the counter to place the order. The food is brought out to you. Pleasant staff. This is not a place you would drive across town for but if you live in the area I recommend Churchhill St. read more
