    Pretzel bites
    Jim R.

Saturday afternoon with 8 people. What we liked: * Able to seat us at a big table with no wait. * Our server was incredibly happy and friendly- believe his name was George. * Impressive bourbon selection. * The dry rub wings were good- nice rub and meaty. * The truffle fries tasted good. What could if been better. * The truffle fries while good seemed like they were a baked shoestring fry. Not bad but not great. * Pretzel bites are decent but really need a beer cheese. * While they have an extensive bourbon list- some of the pours are a bit pricey for bottles that shouldn't be. Overall a fun time and will be back.

This place is pretty cool. Stopped in for lunch while at a conference up the street. Service was fast and friendly. Burger and fries were good but the Brussels were great. We were sat in the little area at the front of the restaurant where you had to step up and there's a gas fireplace. It was a little chilly in there but she said they had just turned on the fireplace. Next time I'm in Flint, I'll definitely come back.

Mushroom, bacon and garlic burger with Cajun fries

I stopped by here for a late midweek work lunch from a recommendation for a good burger. I had the mushroom, bacon and garlic burger that, even though good sized, was relatively flat. The Cajun fries were over salted and somewhat cold. Service was excellent. Full bar, low/high top and patio seating. Craft beer flight available. Clean. I don't recall if they had wifi. Limited street parking. I would probably return for a beer flight but not the burger. It appears that their pretzel bites are highly recommend.

Ribeye was fabulous and you have to try the fries!

Food and drinks are always on point! Great selection of craft beer and honestly their scalloped potatoes are amazing. And I hate them

Pretzel bites with an aioli and honey mustard

The food overall was very mediocre, however I 100% recommend getting the pretzel bites specifically for the garlic aioli, that was exceptionally delicious. The food gets a 3.5/5. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal and handled our table of 9 fantastically. Great service overall and very nice. The ambiance was a bit rustic but nothing out of the ordinary and nothing exceptional.

Do you like food? Do you like cocktails? How about a vibe that can be both casual AND upscale at the same time? Well, that's how I'd describe Churchill's. Craft cocktails that are dreamy, a great patio for in the summer, and a warm, masculine interior that brings to mind cigar bars and scotch. This place specializes in whiskey, and they have whiskeys you'd be hard-put to find anywhere else in the state. Impeccable service, and I even worked here for a summer hostessing because I love the place so much. If you like calamari, theirs is always fab, and is actually my favorite item on the menu, but I've yet to try anything there I don't like. Hats off to Chef Tyler!

    Pork chop

The best pork chop I've ever had! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only problem is that the live music was way, way, way too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The is no reason for amplifiers in that small space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My first time here and I sat at the bar. It's bigger than i expected. The bartender was talking to friends ... i was hoping to get better service or conversation since i never been there before. The pretzel bites and the bun on my veggie burger were a little too crunchy. The atmosphere was ok. The food is decent and the drinks were good. I'll be back.

Around the corner from Hilton Garden In

Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn I walked around the corner to Churchill's to find some dinner. Weeknight dinner time, only a few tables in use. Server told me it was steak night for $18, so rolled the dice and hoped for the best. Wow, was I surprised to be served one of the best dinners I have had in a while. The sautéed Brussel sprouts were VERY good with a delicious sauce on them. But the steak was the biggest surprise. It was tender, delicious, some kind of butter melting (maybe garlic butter?). It was one of the best steaks I can recall having. To get this dinner for 18 bucks is a steal! I've been paying $32 at the Hilton's I stay at for basically the same food but no where near as good. Hats off to the chef! I really went in to try the Fish & Chips that are noted in other reviews so will go back to Churchill's next time I'm in Flint.

Great drink selection in an awesome atmosphere. I love this place, but I'm biased since Winston Churchill is a distant relative.

The food here is great. They also have a large variety of drinks. I like to come here for dinner whenever I'm going to an event downtown.

I went here all of the time as a college student when it was known as the Backroom and later I dropped in once in awhile when it was called Kelly's, until it was sold and became the Loft. Yep, it's a dive bar, always has been and always will be, but the really good old days of the dive bar experience here are sadly gone. As dive bars go, I've seen better and I've seen worse. In fact, if look up the phrase "dive bar," you will probably come across a picture of the Loft. You can't order food here, the "dance floor" is tiny, the music is sometimes good, sometimes not. Don't let me get started on the parking situation- it's terrible and you might as well make a mad dash to wherever you managed to park your car when you leave! It's actually laughable. Some of the cocktails are a bit overpriced for what you are getting (sometimes weak or improperly made), but service largely depends on if you are regular or friend of a friend. Random strangers probably tend to get the short end of the stick. I admit, I've gotten free drinks here before, but that's because the staff knows me. Rodney, the owner, is a great guy, but sometimes the bar runs out of essentials, like premium spirits and mixers. I wish the bar staff would just get it together and make certain that the bar is properly stocked to avoid having to order something alternative because they're out of the appropriate ingredients. Beer selection is just average, but they do carry Stella Artois, one of my favorites, so the Loft has that going for itself. While I don't particularly care for most of their cocktails (either too sweet or extremely tart- so much for a happy medium), the bartenders do make a good mojito and a decent old fashioned, though. My preferred cocktail is a whisky sour, which is pretty easy to make and the last few I ordered kinda sucked. They just didn't taste right, too tart. More often than not, I haven't cared for the vibe, the atmosphere, etc. There are just way too many barfly types hanging around drinking draft beer all night. Plus, I often run into an ex or two here and that's just bad mojo all around...

We just bought round after round after round. They made our car bombs out of Bushmill's whiskey which was a huge plus! I love dive bars and I wouldn't call this one a dive exactly, but the atmosphere is definitely NOT one where you want to drink expensive specialty martinis and eat tapas while toting your designer bag around. It's more like the place that gets really cozy when you go there regularly. Torn jeans, comfy white T-shirt, your busted Cons. I definitely would go do some major chugging with my Flint town crew if I was back around there.
