This location always has the freshest chicken around! It's so nostalgic and the service is always quick! The location is on a busy street so that's the only thing I'd change! My wife wanted to try the fish sandwich from Church's as we are catholic and only eat fish on Fridays during Lent. So we were in San Bernardino for an event and came here to eat. First let me say that the area that this place is in made me feel like I was home in Cleveland as it was as ghetto as it could get. No worries because nobody bothers you. We ordered the fish sandwich, shrimp, jalapeños, biscuits, fries, mashed potatoes, and some pies (apple and lemon cheesecake) All were good except the shrimp and potatoes. The fries could be a little crispier and the potatoes seemed to be missing something. Shrimp had no flavor and too much batter. Pies were really good and piping hot. In fact everything you get is piping hot because it is made to order. The dish was really good. Even though it was really hot it did not make the lettuce wilt or anything. Ok, it's a Churches, but I'll yell you why this is a solid 5 stars...Service! Recently reopened, it obvious why they're only walkup or drivethru, Unfortunately the area suffers from the downturn in our evonomy. I reviewed several years ago anf said the same things, so in that aspect nothing has changed. What has changed is that they do recognize this. I always see security around the drive thru so no one is harassed. But what shines is the service. I get it's just someone taking your order and handing your order, but every time I go they are the most pleasant and hardworking group I've encountered. "Work smarter, not harder" i heard the manager advise. They do both, to their credit. Chicken is what you'd expect from Churches, potatoes are good slaw, biscuits all on par. What a mess. Listed as opening at 10:00, don't wait because they don't open until 11:30. Went today about 01:00 pm. Was informed there was no chicken with white meat, All they had was wings and drumsticks. I decided not to order as a lot of people were forming a line to return their orders. Phones don't work, inventory control needs to be fired, A banner stating the hours of operation would be helpful. We decided to give church's chicken a try. It was empty so we thought it would be a quick in and out. Not the case at all!!! We went through the drive thru the lady helping us took our order pretty fast. Now it was the wait time we waited 5 mins then the lady employee asked again what we ordered. Ok no big deal we want what we ordered so we repeat it. Then about 2 mins later she comes back and says there's no more strips at the moment. Did we want to wait or get chicken instead. So we say chicken is fine. Now she comes back and says oh no sorry I was wrong there is chicken strips. Ok awesome even better we get or original order. 10 mins later we are still waiting. Now it's been around 20 mins waiting for 2 5 dollar boxes. We continued to wait and wait and wait. It seemed like no one knew what was going on. This restaurant lacks organizational skills big time. The manager Jose at this location does a great job in trying to maintain order outside of his store...however his store is located on one of the busiest intersection in the city. If not the busiest. I was in drive thru One lady started to proceed with cashing my order out and while I was showing her and telling her the code she just all the sudden put her had up like for me to wait and like shrugged me off started talking to a customer inside the store and it was like all the sudden I was of no concern. 2. Another one came up asked me if the one lady already charged me I said no and told her about the code for biscuits to be free she said hit redeem don't worry it will be free I said I think you have to enter this code she said no.. 3 after I paid she put my card and receipt in the bag I grabbed them out while pulling out almost home realized I paid 4.99 for a 3 piece meal I never ordered and something called 5 peppers never ordred.. 3.my order was 12 piece meal potatoes coleslaw for 20.00 and LG sprite for 1.00 and 2 biscuits that were suppose to be FREE 4. My order should been no more then 23.00. Instead came out to 30.96 And what I ordered was in the bag The 3 piece meal and peppers were not in my bag so what happened there did I pay for someone else's food and I did not offer to pay for anyone else's food. OK, so this Church's location has been closed down pretty much since the COVID farce. It recently reopened and I was was quite excited to get over there again. 1st of all, this is now a straight up, walk up window, take out location. Near as I can tell, you cannot go inside. Because I was getting dinner for the family, I got an 8 piece, legs & thighs, mild, box. I was very disappointed with the crust on the chicken. it was crunchy enough, but, it had little to no flavor at all. It almost tasted as if it was straight flour, with no seasonings or spices in it. The chicken itself was OK, but, again, no real flavor to it. My side of mashed potatoes and gravy was also OK, nothing to write home about. Overall, I was just not anywhere near as happy as I wanted to be with this meal. read more

Whenever I'm in town, I invariably choose to eat at this Church's. The chicken has always been great with big meaty pieces unlike KFC's minuscule legs and thighs. The staff has the right amount of sass to usually have an enjoyable banter with. Carlos and his crew are great, professional and fast. I've never not left without a smile and never have had missing pieces/sides from my orders. They're cool with coupons from your phone as opposed to having to print them out so that's a big positive too. The only bit of a downer is that they're usually out/running low on spicy chicken. I could see that if you're ordering right before they close, but not like in the middle of the day......will still go and play the spicy lottery tho. read more

I don't care for making reviews for fast food places but the customer service was A1. Carlos, the manager gave a warm genuine welcome and was patient with us when we didn't know what to order. Carlos pointed out the deal and let us know the difference between the options they offered. Even though the other employees didn't seem to care that other customers were in line he he made sure that everyone was acknowledged. So we're told to go to the window. We get there and order 5 boxes. They start getting pissed off said itd be 4 mins for spicy tenders. Waited over 15mins for 5 boxes. With them talking under their breath. Shaking their heads and pointing. Like, im sorry for bringing business and making you work. Dont worry i wont be making that mistake again.
