This is one of our favorite local restaurants in Barrington. It's feels like you're family when you go there. The entire staff is always really friendly and fun when we go there. They have a great menu, we've tried almost everything on the menu and there hasn't been a dish that wasn't good. We always get their house salad and cheese bread sticks as a starter. The restaurant looks small from the outside, but they have a large rear dining area that adds a lot of tables to the restaurant. The restaurant is great for groups and kids. Highly recommend going to try this out

Ciao Baby, was ciao-licious. This place was jam-packed on a Saturday, so get your reservations! The dining area consisted of chairs and tables (no booths) and a small serving/bar area. I would categorize this place as classy, but not too fancy... and nice neighborhood restaurant. There are chalkboards on the wall, informing you of the specials. The specific night we went, the special was Shrimp Puttanesca, which I had no idea what it was, so google "Puttanesca", and tell me what you think. We ordered for appetizer Burnt Pasta -- it sounded interesting. It was fried angel hair pasta sauteed in butter and marinara so it's crispy and well done. I'm a fan of angel hair pasta, and this dish was great. Double Stuffed Eggplant -- Homemade eggplant cutlets, stuffed generously with ricotta, mozzarella and herbs. I ordered the Zuppa Di Pesce. There is also a red sauce version, but I got the white sauce version. This was a great seafood dish and had clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp in a red broth served over linguini. Others enjoyed their dishes as well, such as the linguini with clams There was only one server when we dined, with what I'm assuming was the manager/owner helping out. Nonetheless, service was good, although somewhat understandably slow. For example, we gave our card for the bill, and waited over 10-minutes to get it back.

Great place for an engagement party. Highly recommend. Nice ambiance, food, and service.

Great food, had lots of local word of mouth good reviews! No online menu, that certainly needs to be updated.

    Is the restaurant kid friendly?

At lunch. Might be too small of a place and loud for dinner. But, I have seen kids there.

    Is this byob?

No. They have wine for sure and I believe hard alcohol too!!

Again, it was fine, it just wasn't extra special. It's worth noting that we were there on a Friday afternoon for lunch service and we sat outside but we were also there for a wedding rehearsal lunch and nothing about the experience felt special other than the occasion and the people we came with. I ordered the Aragosta & Gamberi which intrigued me for a number of a reasons. As a non-seafood eater for most my life I'm trying new things. I haven't had lobster but once before and very rarely had risotto so a lobster/shrimp risotto sounded divine. Again, the dish was fine. Nothing outstanding to me. The lobster did not have much flavor - to be clear, this may be completely normal! I don't have much to compare it to, but it seemed light on lobster meat and flavor. The service was also slow despite it not appearing to be busy (we sat outside which was mostly empty, I did not go inside so it's entirely possible it was busy inside). Drink orders took 20 minutes or so to be delivered. We also had 1 food order that was incorrect; however, to their credit they told us to keep the incorrect dish and quickly replaced it with the correct order. Nothing off-putting about this place, just nothing that struck me as super special.

Came here for an impromptu date night (as all date nights are these days) the inside was decorated super cute with a ton of strong lights and photos on the wall. Service was wonderful! Food: We ordered the muscles, rigatoni Alla vodka and a hanger steak they had on special. Everything was very good, fresh and I loved that the pasta was homemade. We will definitely be back!!!

Kyle was our server and he was excellent. His attitude was positive and he took time to converse but was also quick with his service. The server often makes the experience and Kyle did his part well! As for the food, we started with a half plate of grilled calamari which was more than enough for two people. The calamari was excellent tasting and perfectly cooked. The sauce was tasty and great for dipping your bread in (you get warm toasty bread at the start of your meal with a plate of seasoned olive oil for dipping). Next, we split an entree of Chicken Franchese which was more than enough food for two people...especially after the calamari. They split the meal into two plates in the kitchen, without us asking, which was really nice. The chicken was tender and flavorful. We substituted angel hair pasta and used the sauce from the chicken instead of marinara. It was excellent. We had some food left and Kyle boxed it carefully for us right at the table (I typically don't like when they take your food elsewhere to box it. I typically do it myself but this was good). Prices have crept up over the years but portions are huge and with service like we had, it makes it feel a bit more worth it. The restaurant is small and a bit cramped inside. There's typically an early crowd that thins out around 6:30 pm. You may have to wait a bit to be seated if you don't make reservations. Hopefully they move into a bigger spot in the mall they're in to make it a bit less packed. Two bathrooms are single occupant and clean but there can be a wait to get in. Gianni's is an excellent restaurant with a great team. You should check it out.
