Disappointing experience. The inside of the restaurant was very pretty but tables were way too close together. The servers could barely get around our table because of how close it was to others tables. Our table was much too close to the area where servers get glassss for the tables. Servers kept squeezing by us and bumping us to get to the glasses. The restaurant was very busy and understaffed. Only 2 servers for the whole restaurant. They really need at least 3. Our server kept apologizing for the wait. We never got our bread. With the restaurant being new I figured a manager would come check on the customers. I never saw anyone do so at any of the tables including ours. The food was average. Not bad by any means but not worth the poor service for sure. Maybe they need to work out the kinks still because they're new but we were disappointed. read more

Dinner at Florio's tonight a 10/10. They have a Wednesday/Thursday special. Get an appetizer and then get a pasta dish for $10 and chicken dish for $15. Great value, delicious, and leftovers of everything. We had fried calamari (pictured), chicken piccata, and cavatti pasta. Service was attentive but not smothering. Great atmosphere too. We were a party of 3 who opted to sit in the bar. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, comfortable chairs and good design elements throughout. Our server was Joshua. He was joyful, considerate, and knew the menu well for just recently opening. Everything we ordered was delicious and you could tell -- made from scratch. The food had absolutely no taste! Even after adding a lot of lemon juice, Olive oil and salt the dish was basically an overcooked clump of stuck together pasta with some tasteless vegetables. Although the main dishes were cooked well, we will likely try something different on our next visit because they weren't our favorite. I really love the staff here -- they are incredibly attentive and genuinely kind. The ambience is warm and comforting, which makes it a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal. I've dined here four times now, and the service keeps me coming back. That said, I do wish the food consistently came out hot and had a bit more flavor. Each visit leaves me wanting just a little more in that department. Special shoutout to Joshua and Matthew -- they are so pleasant and truly make the experience better. Went to Florio's for the first time last night with 6 of our friends. We were all blown away!!! THIS is the kind of restaurant we've been looking for in Crystal Lake!! Beautiful rooms, every dish was excellent, and the service was beyond awesome!! Angelo was our waiter (AWESOME!!!!), and the owner stopped by to see how everything was. I had the best bourbon Manhattan I've had in probably 10 years (order it with the Penelope Architect bourbon - you won't be sorry!). I don't know how the other lesser reviews on Yelp could be for the same place we were at last night - this place is a keeper!!! read more

But there is an air conditioning unit (I assume what that big machine is) in the restaurant by where we ate (like a big machine). The ambiance was very nice. Cozy and warm. Our first time there and were greeted by Sharon and struck up a conversation right away. We ordered the grilled calamari and it was delicious. We really enjoyed our entrees. Egg plant parmesan for me and the salmon special for my wife. Both were excellent. The absolute worst experience I've had eating Italian food in the crystal lake area. Waiter came back to the table with menus after we ordered informing us they didn't have the 16oz ribeye we ordered. We decided to get their 6oz filet mignon and scallops instead. We got a 6oz sirloin tip and the worst scallops I've ever had! I'm pretty sure the scallops were cooked in a microwave. Chewy, and hard to swallow. Salad was mostly iceberg stems, and my father got the wrong dressing. Wait staff pressured us to hurry. Drinks were ok. I can't imagine this restaurant surviving much longer! Way over priced. I will go above and beyond, unlike this experience, to inform my friends and family that this restaurant is dog shit! Please go to olive garden instead. At least you know they have the items they offer on the menu. read more

We had very high expectations for Florio's and were genuinely excited to dine there, but unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype. It took quite a while for a server to greet us and take our drink orders, but to his credit, he was kind and friendly throughout the meal. It was also clear he was overextended, we were rarely checked on. The food however came out rather quickly. We started with the bread, which was dense and very dry, not a great first impression. The bruschetta appetizer was served on the same dry bread, and the toppings were overly salty. For our main dishes, my husband ordered the chicken Alfredo special, which unfortunately had no flavor at all. To be quite honest...I have had a better frozen Alfredo meal. My daughter had the paccheri with marinara. While we declined the offer to add meatballs or sausage, the dish came with sausage anyway. I checked our receipt and we weren't charged for it, but the marinara itself tasted like something from a jar. I ordered the ricotta gnocchi with vodka sauce. The gnocchi seemed fresh, but the sauce lacked any real flavor or depth. My husband and I each had a glass of wine, which were fine, but nothing exceptional. Given the underwhelming quality of the food and slow service, we opted to skip dessert. The final bill, with tip, came to $170. I will cut them some slack as they are new and need to work out the "kinks ", however, food absolutely delish. Service not so much. It's not that the wait staff was rude it's just the place was OVERBOOKED and they were overwhelmed. Also I do not ever ever want to see an owner yelling at a bar tender in front of guests . That is a big no no! I will say that the bartender was way overwhelmed and her attitude was maybe not conducive to the situation. All in all once seated ( waited over and hour and a half WITH A RESERVATION) the food was worth the wait but they truly need to fix the wait staff problems and the booking situation. If this was in the city it would not last . And if they do not last in Crystal Lake that would be why. I would definitely try it again in about 6 months to see if they are able to fix the wait staff issue. read more

We live nearby and have been waiting for this to open. Definitely worth the wait. Our waitress was Erica and she was sweet. We both had a chicken special with a cream herb sauce and it was very good. My husband also had the mushroom soup which he said was also very good. We have plenty of leftovers and took home a slice of tiramisu. Prices were on point. Spent just over 100 for two dinners, soup, two glasses of wine, a beer and the cake. We will be back. read more

When we arrived the hostess was on the phone apparently taking a reservation. She did acknowledge that she saw us, which was good. There was another couple ahead of us waiting for her to end the call. In the meantime, a rather self important seeming older man came up, turned to us and said: "impeccable timing." It was the EXACT time of our RESERVATION so I'm not sure what that was supposed to mean. He seated the couple ahead of us and never returned even though the hostess was still on the phone. When she concluded the call she said to us: "that's the nature of the beast." I guess that they were both attempting to be humorous rather than just apologizing for the long wait. I have to agree with the reviewer who said the restaurant is crowded - tables are very close together. The evening was saved by our server, Joshua, who was very engaging and professional. The other staff were attentive and polite. Fortunately, our food was very good. Piping hot when it came out and delicious. We will probably go back. One last thing. We were seated in the dining room with a direct view to the big screen TV in the bar area. There was a real life, graphic medical show on. Not very appetizing. Either put the TV out of the view of dining room diners or find something more pleasant for people who are trying to enjoy their food. read more

We were so looking forward to this place and I'll tell you the reasons we'll never come back. 1) the online menu had 4 chicken dishes for &24.95 - $ 26.95, the restaurant menu were all $30.00+. 2)., I ordered the seafood dish, (Frutti Di Mare) for $36.00 that supposedly had calamari, shrimp, mussels, clams and scallops. Not one scallop, only 2 small shrimp, 2 mussels, and a lot of rubbery calamari. (There was six of us and only one person liked their meal). 3) Here's the killer: the most expensive drinks we've ever encountered at good local restaurants! Vodka and tonic, Makers and seven, were both $18.00! I ordered a red wine from the wine list for $12.00 that was a fair price, but 3 others ordered just a chardonnay and the bill came in at $16.00- $17.00. All in all, the food was mediocre and lacking at best, the prices were raised from their online menu, and this was NOT the way to open a new restaurant! Bye bye Florios. Oh, I almost forgot. The server spilled a full glass of red wine over one guest's white shirt,(but accidents can happen). read more

Went to the restaurant today at 4 PM with a group of seven hoping to get a table. The hostess was yelling at us that she had nothing for us. They were totally overbooked all night. It wasn't what she said, but the manner in which she said it. She was rude and condescending. We went across the street to FireBar and had a wonderful meal. I guarantee you none of us will be back to Florio's. It's a shame that a new restaurant has an employee that's so rude and uninviting. I think she shot herself in the foot. read more

Had a wonderful experience at Florio's Italian Restaurant on Friday night. Was greeted by their hostess Sharon upon checking in. We were early so we chose to sit at the bar and enjoy a drink while waiting for the rest of our party. Once they arrived Sharon seated us. Angelo was our server, and he was friendly & efficient! After ordering drinks and an appetizer, we ordered our entrees. I had linguine and clams & it was excellent! Another person in our party ordered the Veal and that meal was also delicious! The veal was so tender. We ordered a side of meatballs and they were so flavorful. Melted in your mouth, good! All in all it was an excellent dining experience! We cannot wait to go back! There were several other entrees that we want to try! I highly recommend making a reservation especially on the weekend because they were busy! read more
