Ciatti's is pretty unusual in that it has a steakhouse feel yet still serving excellent Italian. In fact, I would say Ciatti's exceeds my expectations for both a steakhouse and Italian restaurant at a tremendously reasonable price point. I came to Ciatti's by high recommendations from co-workers while traveling in La Crosse. I have to say that everything written here and told to me was ON POINT. Service was excellent and in many cases above and beyond my expectations. The waiters on all three occasions were friendly, funny, and fast. I never felt my drinks were less than half empty before a fill up - it was almost a challenge to beat. I had the Butcher's secret sirloin with a side of fettuccine alfredo for all visit - it was just THAT GOOD. The steak is well seasoned and cooked to exacting standards - rarely have I seen a steak consistently medium rare (the only way I eat it) across all visits. Otherwise, the calamari, stuffed mushrooms, and toasted ravioli are all excellent appetizers. Would easily come back for a fourth time if I had more business in La Crosse! read more

My husband and I were visiting from out of town and were in the mood for Italian, so we found this place. I was impressed with the interior design. The booths were nice and lovely too, with high backs so you're not looking at someone's back the entire time. They leave nothing on the table except for a candle and silverware, which is really nice, as it makes it feel like it has more space and is more intimate feeling. My husband ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs and ate every bite. I couldn't decide between the Spicy Chicken Penne or the Chicken Carbonara. I asked my waiter, and he suggested putting the spicy chicken on the Chicken Carbonara. This was delicious. I ate nearly almost every bite! The breadsticks were good, but almost too salty. We still ate them. The service was nice too. If I'm ever in the area again and have time to do so, I will be going back! read more

A nearly empty parking lot when I arrived at 6:30 pm on a Friday evening should have told me to go elsewhere. My experience 15 years ago should have told me to go elsewhere. But I decided to give them a second try because my daughter wanted Italian and we don't have a lot of options in this area. The evening started with a server who obviously didn't know the menu. Strike one was the length of time it took to get our drink order to us (16 minutes for two waters and a lemonade). I ordered Chicken Marsala (though that's what I was served) which comes with a choice of side. She failed to ask me for my choice. I had to remind her that dish comes with one. Strike two for the server. The bread-sticks came to the table and that was yet another sign that I was in the wrong place. When a chain Italianesque restaurant makes better bread sticks it's painfully obvious that someone in the kitchen doesn't know their job. They were over baked, dry, and bland. Two of these remained on the table when we left - none of us wanted to choke another one of those down. Although the meal arrived quickly I could again tell that either the kitchen staff or the head chef has very little experience with Italian Cuisine, or at least with a Marsala sauce. Never have I seen so much pepper in this type of sauce. Salt and pepper to TASTE, but it should not be the only ingredient I taste in the sauce. My mouth is still on fire from this. I should have taken a picture. The first bite was as expected - pepper and flour and not much else. The chicken beast was over salted and dried out and the mushrooms were overcooked and rubbery. As a side I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo - a simple dish that I didn't think they could mess up. But I was wrong. Pasta should be served al dente, but this was just a little less than mush. The sauce was very sweet, as if there was sugar added, which is not what I expected in an Alfredo sauce. For the second time in my life I remained silent when the server asked how the food was. I never do that. There were too many people in the restaurant supposedly enjoying their meal for me to make a scene tonight. But I couldn't go long without sharing my opinion. And the third strike for the server? Walking by our table six times after our plates were empty before checking in with us again. SIX TIMES? OK, if the place were busy, I can understand that. But the place was half empty. Never have I left such a small tip at a restaurant. I contemplated a zero tip, but I am too nice of a guy for that (even though I sound like a mean old man in this review). read more

Horrible birthday experience. Came here to celebrate 3 birthdays. Chicken parm didn't come with any noodles. Our waiter, Will, decided to argue with us stating it doesn't come with noodles and you have to order that as your side if you want it that way. He told us this AFTER the fact we ordered a side salad. Then the chicken parm comes out completely burnt. Will then began to trash talk to the kitchen staff calling them incompetent, which seems unprofessional. Another person of our party ordered the steak which was undercooked. We decided to give the dessert a try which was good but took so long to we had to ask where it was. Our waiter was full of excuses. We were passing by on the way home from Madison and came here to have lunch. The highlight for this review is not the food, but Haley, our waiter. Haley served our table (2 adults, 1 kid, 1 baby) she was courteous, very sweet and kind towards our kids. Our baby was tired and a little fussy, when the food came she even offered us to hold the baby so we could eat. Our baby really liked her, even played with her for a little bit after we were done eating. Food wise was ok. My pasta came out bland and tasted like something I could make at home. Husband's flatbread was good. If it was for the food Only I'd give three stars, but Haley made the experience exceptional. The restaurant are so lucky to have her. read more

I was visiting in town and craving some pasta. I was very impressed with Ciatti's. The service was attentive and the food was very good (and I'm a picky pasta eater). I enjoyed the fettuccine with chicken and vegetables (I asked for broccoli and Portabella mushroom). I also ordered a side Caesar salad which had excellent buttery croutons. Overall, the food, service, and ambiance was outstanding. The only reason I'm not rating it as a "5-Star" dining option is because it is not so fancy that you would feel under dressed in shorts. Our server, Nicci, was prompt, friendly, and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the blackened ribeye was. In addition, it was cooked exactly as I requested; medium rare. My wife ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs that came out very hot, which is exactly how we like it. Also, the soup was served quickly and it too was steaming hot and very flavorful. Yikes.....we love Ciatti's but they've raised prices on their menus, both lunch and dinner, and we're starting to think of other Italian places to go. Money is NOT our only reason for going for lunch or dinner but it does come into play. We had, for two, five drinks, and two dinners, and our bill was 73.00!!! Really?? Food was for one of us, a 3 and for the other a 4 out of 5, good but NOT WORTH THE PRICE. This review is 1 star solely due to awful service. I don't say that often but in this case it is warranted. The food we ordered tasted great, but once we were served we did not see our waitress for at least 25 minutes. I should say we saw her but she never came to our table, even after we tried getting her attention. We were waiting for water refills and bread sticks. If you're like my family we like to eat bread sticks with our Italian food. By the time our waitress finally checked on us all of our entrees were cold, so instead of getting bread sticks we had our food boxed to go. Seafood Cannelloni and Spinach Ravioli are not good cold. We eat out probably more than we should and this was the first time, EVER, that we left 0 tip. Frustrating when you spend $70.00 for a meal and the service ruins the experience. read more

The sweet ginger reduction sauce was exquisite, and so sweet ginger sauce the parmesan flowed like wine, and so did the wine, the breadsticks were delectable, so many breadsticks, you honestly don't even need a meal. My husband and I were driving through this area and it's always a gamble when trying a restaurant you're not familiar with and honestly I was surprised! I was making a take out order and the gentleman who picked up the phone was professional and polite but transferred me over to a lady, I'm assuming a server, who took my order. She was also very professional and polite. I ordered toasted ravioli with marinara and chicken carbonara. Food was ready within 20 mins. Ate both and flavor-wise, it was really good! Maybe the texture would be slightly different if I dined in but I am still happy with it overall. If you're looking for great Italian food at a good price, this is the place. The lunch buffet has most there menu, flatbread, tomato base pasta, Alfredo base pasta, two soups and salad all for 8.99 yes please. No wilt in the salad lettuce, layers of flavor in the flatbread, one soup was a more liquid chili but doesn't kill you with heat. The tomato base pasta was just noodles added to the sauce which made it watery, but the flavor was amazing, cook the noodles al dente and finish in your sauce to make it perfect, the Alfredo didn't have this problem. Service was friendly and customer focused, my drink was never empty and always a smile. Unlimited breadsticks with a great seasoning on it would make this worth it in general. Gets a 10/10 from me and ill tell you why the entire effort and quality put into these meals shows in the taste so much. I usually order the Spicy Chicken Penne in Pesto Cream sauce. The sauce is super creamy and the chicken is very fresh and tender and packed with so much flavor. We also never have to wait usually more than 15 minutes for our meals. Staff are usually very attentive and caring and always take time to check on you. Prices are more than most other Italian restaurants but it is so worth it I promise. read more
