This small spot has some amazing Dominican food. After reading the reviews I had to take a trip to Nashua to try this place out and boy it didn't disappoint. Take into consideration that it's very small and catered to people who get there food to go, that didn't stop me. I arrive on a Thursday around 1pm and there was only one person in front of me. After ordering there was at least 10 people in line waiting to order. Craziness lol. The pricing of all the food was the best part for me. They priced their food like how it should be and give huge portions. Now lets get to the review: Mofongo Carnitas- Took about 15 min to wait and it was sooo worth it! Just wasted my lunch break waiting in line to have my order taken, there were 3/4 employees working on online orders, by working I mean 1 was completing an order while the others walked around and conversed with other customers, 2 employees were taking care of 1 person while the line was getting longer. The Shiva restaurant in Nashua, New Hampshire on Amherst Street. It was very disappointing because I went in today at 6:30 and they said that there was ready to leave when the store the restaurant hours operation were for nine she said, and there was no food that I wanted or requested and I stood there for about 40 minutes and I get it that they were busy. I'm very understanding and reasonable but I got shorted on the food. I got a lot of liquid instead of The meat yeah it was cold it was very delayed and it's one of my favorite spots for Dominican cuisine but unfortunately I went there as early as like six something and they told me they were about to close and that's why I didn't have no food I seen that they were busy and again I'm very understanding but it's very unfortunate that everything that I asked for and wanted when I went there they were not available they did not have a and they didn't even have food or they would have me wait for an extra 15 to 20 minutes have anything made at Hands just very disappointing. read more

What a great find! Located at the corner of Ash Street and Lake Street, Cibao Kitchen is a tiny Latin American/Dominican takeout restaurant tucked behind the Lake Convenience Store. The place is very small (takeout only), which is like stepping inside a friend's kitchen. The food is hot and ready to be served from behind the glass display windows. The food offerings here include dinner plates (choices of beef stew, sauteed steak, chicken stew, rotisserie chicken, ribs, roast pork) served with rice and salad, plus fried plantains, pastelitos (chicken, beef, or cheese), yuca, fries, rice & beans, and salad. After conducting important business across the street, I stopped in at Cibao Kitchen recently for dinner takeout. Since I was hungry, I wanted something tasty and filling. The owner showed me the hot food selections offered from behind the glass window. I chose the dinner box with beef with gravy, rice & beans & a green salad (iceberg lettuce, tomato, Italian dressing) and two pastelitos (chicken and beef). The total came out to $14. I could wait to get home, so I could enjoy my food. The portion of food was generous, box was filled up good. The marinated beef was slow cooked (simmered), soft and very tender, with hearty flavors, melt in your mouth excellent! The rice & beans were tasty too, accompanied crisp green salad. The pastelitos (crisp pastry shells filled with meats) were pretty good! I am glad I found this little gem, located away from the main strip. Really?! Only 4 reviews for this spot? The disrespect. I remember first visiting Cibao Kitchen after seeing it pop up on the "hot and new" section of NH Yelp a while back. After that, it became one of my favorite lunch spots when I met clients in Nashua and I'd still be a customer had I not moved out of New Hampshire. Sure, this is your humble Dominican take-out joint that doesn't even look like a traditional restaurant. The inside is cramped leaving zero room for a dining area and the appearance on the outside could easily fool many into mistaking this for a residential building. But walk through the doors and you'll be rewarded with smiles and heavenly aromas. F O O D The menu consists of breakfast items, various entrees, sides (rice & beans, fried plantains, empanadas), and drinks! My usual order was the pollo al horno (rotisserie chicken) with rice & beans and a side salad. Though not as juicy as I was expecting, the chicken was still very tasty. The rice was not as flavorful as the versions I am used to but that's ok too. Their side salad and tangy dressing were refreshing and provided a nice break on my palate from the heavy chicken. They provide a lot of food. I used to eat half for lunch and save the rest for dinner. I especially enjoyed that my entire meal only set me back $10! I've also had some of the empanadas. I recommend the beef one as that tasted the best to me. The cheese was ok but not filled with much. In addition, I highly recommend trying some of their drinks. My favorite was the morir sonando which was a milk and orange drink. I think it's perfect for hot summer days when your at work and wish you were on vacation. Just close your eyes and take a few sips. S E R V I C E I was legitimately so excited to learn that this Dominican place opened up in New Hampshire. That meant I no longer had to make my own. I'd point at food to guess what they were and the friendly woman behind the counter either verified my guesses or corrected me. I then asked if they had tostones (fried green plantains). They did not but the woman said she would happily fry some up if I wanted. I declined as I had to return to work but that was nice of her. Though not the best I've had, their food is truly comforting, delicious, and a welcome addition to Nashua. I highly recommend them. This state needs more places like Cibao Kitchen. However the Spanish customer in front of me went in w/ out one, & Chitchatted for 10 minutes with the staff in Spanish. Are you kidding me? The roast chicken is the best I've had. The seasoned rice is exceptional. Love the sweet plantains and the pork belly was interesting (had to try a bite). A number of coworkers have also been (one of them 3 days in a row) and say the best things about the pulled meats in sauce as well. And the beans are great too. The portion is huge; easily feeds 2 or 1 hangry tyoe, for a little over 10 bucks. The price is right on for the value. And the service is pleasant. I have done both take out and delivery through Doordash for this place and it is one of my absolute FAVORITES! Their meal boxes are all amazing and plentiful, the meats tender and mouthwatering. Everything is seasoned to perfection. Their empanadas are so flaky and delicious that I can resist them. All of their appetizers are very tasty. I particularly love the stuffed Yucca. This place is delicious. I'm vegan so I haven't tried their meat dishes but I always come to get rice and beans and tostones. It is so flavorful and amazing. We get the lunch special which is a container packed full and is plenty for two people to share. If our portion sizes are smaller or sharing with a kid then 3 people can share. I grew up in the Bronx NY and miss having authentic Spanish food quick take out options so was really surprised and glad to find this in Nashua. For our white rice beans and tostones we pay $8 but if you add meat the price goes up. read more

The wife and I wanted something different for dinner tonight. An old co worker of mine mentioned this place long ago and raved about it. So today was the day that we were to give it a try. When we walked in it was somewhat busy and smelled heavenly. We waited maybe 5 to 10 mins to have our order taken. The woman who served my wife and I was friendly and accommodating and answered all of our questions cheerfully. The food was delicious and amazing! It was not your typical restaurant grade but very much what you would expect to have your home on a Sunday. The place is super small but the atmosphere was comforting in a nostalgic "greasy spoon diner" kind of way. For the amount of food that the wife and I ordered I would have had no problem paying a fair bit more than what I did. Will we go back there again? You can bet your bottom dollar on it. read more

Take-out only, but that just means you can pig out in the privacy of your own home where other customers can't judge you inhaling their delicious food. $7 for a "small" plate, $10 for a "large" plate. $3 for tostones (cooked to order upon request) & $1.50 each for a fresh empanada. Huge portions, all homemade. A large plate is easily enough for two. They run out of some items later on in the afternoon/evening, so it's best to go earlier if you can.
