Bistec Encebollado and oxtail dish with a side of rice and tostones

This was my second time at Gary's and I'm so glad I came back! The food and drinks were so delicious and worth every penny. All the staff were super helpful and friendly. Their outside patio is also a super wonderful place when the weather is nice! I would recommend the ropa vieja croquettes and the crispy pork belly for apps and the churrasco for entree, can't wait to return and try something new!

The restaurant is clean and staff are all wonderful. Food was great and drinks were amazing. We had spicy oxtails, skirt steak with chimmichurri sauce, fried ripe plantains, yucca fries, and a half orde each of steak mofungo and pork belly mofungo. All was delicious. Highly recommend thus restaurant.

Food was delicious. Highly recommend. My husband got the Tomahawk steak ( which can feed 3-4 people ) while my order was the Mejillones al Vino.

Went here cuz we saw it online. Asked around and has been told it was a place to try. So we did ! I called for reservations but didn't need them for our 630 seating time. Maybe later at night you may need them as it got busy with a few large parties. When we arrived a young woman went to seat us. I told her we reserved a table and she looked at me with a smile -but blankly. I think maybe a bit of a language barrier. Someone else came up and sat us. We were sat by the kitchen. Quiet table in the back but I would have preferred another table as folks just kept coming in and out of the kitchen (of course). But it didn't matter honestly. We got two mojitos. Hubby says you must try the jalapeño one if you like things spicy. My regular mojito was the best I've ever had. Yup. Empanadas , the goat dish and see bass rounded out our meal. Empanadas were yummy. Three for an appetizer. Flavorful with a sauce that tastes familiar like Russian dressing. The goat was great. Hubby loves goat and he said it was cooked perfectly and very rich. Bones everywhere though- which I think is a "thing" because every goat meal we have had always is cooked with the bones. It was served in a bowl like stew. I got the sea bass that was stuffed with a crab mixture. I had a choice of what sauce to choose too. I got the coconut sauce ( no pieces of coconut thank goodness cuz I can't have pieces ) which was a light orange sauce that tasted amazing. Only downside ? My fish was swimming in the sauce. Totally distracted from the flavor of the fish. If i has asked gif it on the side ig would have been better just because of the amount of sauce I had. Both meals cane with rice and beans. We were asked to choose our side- but no idea what most were as they weren't in English (our bad for not asking ). Huge side portions. We ended up taking home one side! We'd def go back. Maybe a bit later. Ordering other items as there are so many choices. FYI: They DO charge a fee to use a debit/credit card but offer a discount if you use cash.

Definitely hit up Gary's if you're in or near the Lowell area! The Paella Valenciana and Oxtail Mofongo is a must try, it won't disappoint. Great drinks, food and service!

Honestly, have you ever came across a hole in the wall where you just walk or drive past it…read moreeveryday and you wonder to yourself: "The hell is this place with the big sign and flourescent lights"? I thought the same thing as I would aimlessly walk and drive by past this Spanish establishment. Low and behold, welcome to Rancho Tipico. This place is pretty much your mom and pop spanish meat shop with all the fixings meat lovers crave for. I'm a common man and usually go for what seems the most appealing to me (which usually means fried and meaty) and the options that they have for appealing looking meats are top notch. I speak very little spanish but my go-to dish is usually the chicharrones y arroz con frijoles. Basically pork rinds and rice with beans. Although the meat is usually dry and pretty salty, the juice that comes from the meat is ever so savoring and the complimentary limet that comes with it is the cherry on top. The yellow rice that I usually get with the meat is also tasty as well. It has a nice light bitter taste with it, which is accompanied by a mix of capers. It literally is a nice touch for the meal. Best part about this place? The portions are godly. Literally just 8 bucks of the aforementioned dish can put your azz in a food coma. The location is a bit strange though, as I said before the decor isnt really the most appealing of all places knowing to the fact that it is in the middle of the projects and the ever growing capitalist buildings of UMass Lowell. Finding parking is almost impossible during lunch hours (or any time for that matter), and someone like I would only go here after class. Its a pretty tough spot to find parking for.

When we got there we were a little confused because it was also a store. towards the back they have a little restaurant and a menu where you can choose how many pieces of chicken you want with fries or plantains. However, while we were waiting in line we talked to someone that frequents the establishment and they said to not order off of that menu and just go further down the line and order off what's on the table. So I took her advice and ordered some Spanish rice with chicken stew and one piece of fried Chicken. The food smelled amazing the entire drive home and when we got home we started to eat. There was a lot of rice which is great but not needed and the chicken was very good. I actually preferred the fried over the stew but that's just me. I'm sure if I had more of the stew sauce on the rice it would have made a bigger difference but I didn't have a lot on my plate. Over all the places good and I would love to go back again and try something new.
