    Salad Bar

Waited for 20 mins and the bar still looked the exact same way. Asked for a refund and was told to contact the store manager. This was ridiculous! There was no urgency to refill the bar. People were sitting around looking crazy waiting on pizza while the workers were standing around talking. Update: I have received a refund.

To start with I love this chain, this location was absolutely the worst and nastiest I have ever been to. Floor looked like it had been mopped in oil and numerous people almost fell because of it, people were actually skating instead of walking. Salad bar, pasta bar and soup had not been wiped down from the time we arrived until we left. Cross contamination all across the salad bar! Pizza was old and then nothing, people were waiting in line for 15 minutes waiting for food...from a pizza buffet? Staff was too busy playing and one guy was trying to pick up a girl instead of working. Finally a few more staff came from the back where the smell of weed was coming from and made more pizzas. It is very sad that this location makes all of Cicis look bad. Will not be back!!

    only one pizza was out.

this food place is very bad service they didn't have pizza ready for over then 45 mins and the staff was very rude towards us and other customers. If you consider coming here don't bother because its disgusting and not worth it. wing stop is next door. also the vibe was so off and very sketch. this shit is ass on bro.

    Nasty pizza

First time eating at this location. We came in a soon as they opened to beat the lunch crowd. The restaurant was very clean and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. I was disappointed in the salad bar. There were not many toppings to go on the salad, just your basics....lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, carrots, banana peppers, croutons and cheeses. I tried the chicken soup and it didn't have much taste to it. The pizza was fresh and hot. I ordered a personal supreme pizza which was ok. It could've used a little more pizza sauce. My daughter loved the cavatappi pasta and marinara sauce. I also tried the bbq pork pizza and buffalo chicken pizza. I wasn't a fan of either. For dessert we had the cinnamon rolls which were hot, good, very moist too.

I thought this was a really neat way to celebrate the city's history and highlight local cuisine. I decided to visit this restaurant because what is better than pizza? Something that can be saved and eaten for days. This restaurant definitely delivered wonderful food! I had the Margherita pizza, the appetizer meatball, and the beignets. The restaurant is located in a little shopping center in the heart of Cahaba Heights. It is a cozy bistro-style place. As usual, I got the food to go due to work. Unfortunately, I rarely get a chance to dine in and enjoy food at the establishment. So, I am very picky about to-go quality, and Troup's delivered. I had the margherita pizza, small 12-inch. It was still warm by the time I made it home. The mozzarella was fresh, and the perfect circle was cut and spread over each piece. The sauce was delicate and flavorful, tasting light and homemade as it should. I like a good amount of sauce, and it was very saucy. It was not overcooked in the slightest, with the cheese and basil still fresh and not burnt. The crust was more Neapolitan-style, softer toward the middle (it wasn't a true Neapolitan, though), but I like various styles of pizza, even hybrids, so I was happy. The spices used gave it great flavor. For a margherita pizza, it's definitely a thumbs up, and I would try it again. I also had their appetizer meatball, which was smothered in the same pizza sauce and fresh basil, and it was quite enjoyable. I am actually not a fan of meatballs unless they are cooked a certain way, usually a mix of meats and tender-ish, but I needed protein that day. Their meatball, I would say, qualifies as one I would eat again. It is a mix of ground pork, beef, and lamb. I am not a pork fan, but I could not taste much pork in this. I liked the beef and lamb, which gave it flavor, and it was cooked so that it was tender. Lastly, the meatball was huge in my opinion. I ate off of it for a few days (but probably most would finish it in 2 servings). Finally, I had their beignets. I tried one fresh before getting home, and it was delish! I honestly did not think they would hold well at home, and after I ate. I was pleasantly surprised. They were amazing, slightly warmed back up. Also, there were so many that I shared them with friends, who also very much enjoyed them. All in all, I would eat there again, even though it may be a bit pricey.

Anyways, everyone ordered a calzone and we opted for a large cheese bread which came out ahead of the calzones. What a perfect idea, right....Most places bring your salad or appetizer before the meal, but often way too close to the meal. This young man was running the place alone with great timing. Taking orders, preparing food, cleaning up tables after guests and handling it all very well. Cheese bread was great, fresh out of the oven. Two meat lovers calzones, a supreme calzone, and my wife's over the top concoction of sausage, onion, mushroom, pineapple, and green olives were all a hit and also hot baked from the oven. Messy, but good. Music reminded me of car rides with my mom back in the 90's. Large portion of the dining room says it's closed but I couldn't figure out why. Even though one guy was running the entire show, service was great. About $20 per person with tip, so not too bad. I like their pizza box, which says 'break the chain - eat local'.

I stopped by for lunch, and ordered the ziti with meatballs. I didn't get a drink because they only have soda; no water or tea. The ziti was lukewarm. The sauce and meatballs were a little on the bland side, but pepper flakes livened it up. The garlic bread was extra crispy and burned to charcoal around the edges and bottom. I didn't see the bottom was burned until I tasted it. As it it tasted of carbon. I am surprised they let that out of the kitchen. The bill with tip came to over $15, and I don't think the meal was worth that. I think they need.to look at what they are putting on people's plates before it leaves the kitchen. Non-soda drink options would be nice as well.

Yet,…read morewe are humans, we cannot stop ourselves at the Neapolitan classic version, the iconic NYC slices nor the Chicago deep dish. Something within us, is tirelessly reinventing. Whether good or bad, someone else can decide. A real distinction of Pizza Grace is in its most fundamental element, and the aspect that one could argue to be the most important part of any pizza, period. Of course, that would be the crust. The crust here is created with wild yeast sourdough, called "Frank", resulting in a unique profile regardless of what later lands on top of the pizza. Let's pause here for just a second, is it not ridiculous having to wait 24-48 hours for the slow crust fermentation to happen? Apparently, the owners Chef Ryan Westover and his wife Helene didn't think so. Their signature pizza here is no less impressive either: topped with Louisiana crawfish, ricotta, Parmesan, mint and basil. It is a true star of the show. We walked up the street with a half dozen other diners. Wooden City is definitely not in the best part of BHM. Walking to the restaurant was a little sketchy, no need for a detailed description. Although we had reservations, the hostess looked at us like we had three eyes. She found a small table for us in the far back of the restaurant. No problem, at least we were seated. Our server greeted us quickly and went over the menu. We ordered drinks, blistered Hungarian peppers and a sausage and mushroom pizza. We told him that we were going to a concert and were on a little bit of a tight schedule. By the time our server checked on our food, the second time, we went from a little bit tight to full "gotta get out of here" mode. I guess the delay in getting our food was to give the kitchen time to burn our pizza. Over half of the thick, chewy crust was inedible. The bottom of the pie didn't fare much better. The peppers, on the other hand, were amazing. (not so much so at 2 am but that's just me!) They are a do not miss. We were at least able to settle our bill quickly and made it to the concert with time to spare. Overall, would we go back? Only if in the area - those peppers were amazing. Still, I definitely would not make a special trip.
