My family and I, had a very bad experience while eating at Cicis Pizza on a Saturday around 9:45 P.M. The guy who claimed he was the manager was very unprofessional managing the establishment. I had several bad situations that occurred, which started before we even sat down. First we received hand signals just pointing us towards the front, and I asked the young man what exactly he was referring to ? Before he could respond, " I stated, what does that mean and ask also if we need to sit up front? He said yeah, that was the first bad impression. After we sat down the kids went up front and grab some food, As they approached the counter there wasn't many options to select from. My niece and nephew politely asked if they're going to place any more food selections on the buffet counter and he aggressively said " No! You better eat that macaroni pizza or cheese pizza". They also was playing very unprofessional music within the establishment. Once my niece and nephew came back to the table and told me exactly what he said, I then went up to the front to get some clarity as to what was said and spoked with the manager. He told me the exact same thing. At the time it was 10:15 P.M, you would think they would've put a fresh set of food out on the buffet counter since there was still a lot of customers in the establishment and also 45 minutes left before the establishment close. I then asked for a partial refund and the manager just ignored me and told me that it was enough food put out previously which it wasn't. I then asked for corporate phone number, which he did give to me. My family and I ended up leaving within 20 minutes of being at Cicis pizza because no more food was available and the employees were just cleaning up and preparing to leave. This establishment didn't close until 11:00 P.M. I completed a survey and mentioned this experience to corporate as well and nobody still haven't called nor email me to offer a refund or tried to see what had happened. This reflects how unprofessional the management staff is for this establishment. I most definitely will not recommend that anyone eat at this location on the weekend late in the evening, because most likely, you will be very disappointed. read more

THEY GOT RID OF THE $3.99 MON-WED COMPLETELY. BUT: $7.99 for an adult buffet and $2.49 for a large drink with refills. For drinks they have brewed unsweet & sweet tea including peach tea then there's Coke products, regular and diet Dr. Pepper (my absolute favorite), Fanta, Hi-C, and MinuteMaid lemonade in their soda fountain. Some of the drinks didn't work today, like Fanta. They'll make any pizza you ask for. I think their limit is one custom pizza per person. One thing is that you might get a surprise on the bottom of your pizza in the shape of a meat that you've definitely not ordered. They don't seem to clean the pizza pans they use. For instance I ordered a no-cheese no-meat pizza since I don't eat cheese, and it had toppings from other pizzas stuck to the bottom. I included a picture of one of the three offending slices which was the least extreme of the three, and when I went back to look at the pizza pan it was HORRIBLE but I didn't want to take a picture of that. Normally they'll be cool about me asking for a no-cheese pizza but today the woman I asked seemed disappointed when I asked for it. But they were busy so that's understandable. It's sooooo busy most of the, even at the weird times of the day. And if you come during lunch in a school week, god forbid, there will be no less than 50 children running around and a consistent 10-person line at the drink fountain. We'll definitely be back even with the bad. I took my boyfriend here for his first time and he said it's so good that it's dangerous and we'd limit ourselves to visits once a month. Their cinnamon rolls & brownies are delicious - I think I average five slices of pizza, five cinnamon rolls, and two brownies over all the times I've come here. To start with I love this chain, this location was absolutely the worst and nastiest I have ever been to. Floor looked like it had been mopped in oil and numerous people almost fell because of it, people were actually skating instead of walking. Salad bar, pasta bar and soup had not been wiped down from the time we arrived until we left. Cross contamination all across the salad bar! Pizza was old and then nothing, people were waiting in line for 15 minutes waiting for food...from a pizza buffet? Staff was too busy playing and one guy was trying to pick up a girl instead of working. Finally a few more staff came from the back where the smell of weed was coming from and made more pizzas. My family and I were looking for a cheap bite to eat when we decided to eat here. I found a coupon for $3.99 buffet for weekdays, so it fit the bill. My hopes were not high. The reviews were not great but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was clean as a pin, restrooms included. The two employees were pleasant and friendly. They greeted us the moment we opened the door. When we arrived only a few slices were on the buffet. We made salads from a very fresh and well stocked salad bar. I grabbed some pretty tasty noodles with white sauce. As we got started the employees got busy making fresh cheesy breadsticks, pizzas, and desserts. The timing was perfect. Everything came out right as we finished our salads. We had a pretty good selection of pies: Pepperoni and Cheese, Cheese, Chicken Alfredo, Sausage, Spinach, BBQ, and Hawaiian. Everyone enjoyed the pizza. It was delicious. Fresh hot brownies and iced cinnamon rolls finished our meals nicely. There was a nice game room in the back full of claw games. The room was clean and hand sanitizer was right on the wall. The only things I would change would be to put some supreme and deep dish on the buffet, put some actual video games in the game room, and make the light timer in the restroom a bit longer. First time eating at this location. We came in a soon as they opened to beat the lunch crowd. The restaurant was very clean and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. I was disappointed in the salad bar. There were not many toppings to go on the salad, just your basics....lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, carrots, banana peppers, croutons and cheeses. I tried the chicken soup and it didn't have much taste to it. The pizza was fresh and hot. I ordered a personal supreme pizza which was ok. It could've used a little more pizza sauce. My daughter loved the cavatappi pasta and marinara sauce. I also tried the bbq pork pizza and buffalo chicken pizza. I wasn't a fan of either. The types (Buffalo Chicken, Cheese Stuffed Crust Pepperoni, Chicken Flatbread) that I tried tasted good. Occasionally appears that presentation suffered due to rushing. Despite not being busy (many tables open) many options (about half) were not readily available at any given time. Party of 8 for a birthday party dinner. We left Surge and seems like everyone else did too and came here for dinner. The line was crazy long but we all got in. The kids ate until they couldn't eat anymore. The employee that stood out the most was Tank. He came around to see how everyone was doing and to clear plates. He told Jordyn Happy Birthday. His personality was very nice and he was just a joy. He made conversation with everyone and made us all smile and laugh. The race between everyone and them cinnamon rolls were hilarious. A few years ago all the local Cicis pizza buffet closed around Birmingham. They have refreshed their brand and are now opening new stores. There's one already in Trussville. This Homewood location opened today and in about a month there will be one opening in Hoover. Today's grand opening was busy. We went around noon and it was bustling. This location is located right between Mr Chens and FireHouse Subs off Greensprings Hwy in Homewood. These are what they term their "maverick" stores. They have new logos and use bold red, green, orange and white colors throughout the restaurant. Their interior is simple yet functional with booths and tables scattered throughout. You enter directly to where you stand in line to place your order. There's nothing much to choose because it's all you can eat buffet for $6.09 for adults, $3.49 for kids, free for kids 3 and under. Drinks are an additional $1.99 and now they are offering Wings as well. 5 wings $3.99, 10 $6.99, 20 $12.99. Flavors for wings are currently mild or hot buffalo, garlic parmesan or honey bbq. A "to-go" option is provided if you want to call in an order. The prices for their pizzas are quite reasonable. There is a modest "arcade" in the rear that accepts tokens that can be obtained at the front. There are 2 flat screen tvs mounted one towards the back and one in the front. After you pay, you get your cup and can proceed to their self serve soda dispenser. After you find your table, you may indulge yourself at their pizza buffet. The salad bar is very basic with iceberg lettuce, mushrooms, carrots, cucumbers, croutons, etc. They also have a pasta bar with only Cavatappi pasta, a red sauce and a white sauce. There's also a piping hot chicken noodle soup available with generous generous chunks of chicken and carrots. The pizza buffet counter has room for only about 7 pizzas. They had the traditional cheese, pepperoni, meat eater (pepperoni & sausage only), buffalo chicken, and parmesan chicken. Also on the buffet bar were a stuffed crust pepperoni, brownies, an apple pie pizza and their homemade cinnamon rolls which were delicious. I found their pizza dough to be quite flavorful. The flavors that I listed were the ones that they were continually making and placing at the bar for patrons. However there were many people "placing orders". That is, if you wanted a supreme or a pepperoni with chicken and bbq sauce, you may request that and they will make that pizza for you. This is at no additional cost! Bearing in mind this isn't fine dining, their pizza is good and better or on par with probably your best version of your favorite everyday pizza establishment. They use fresh ingredients and bake all their pizzas in the back and being a buffet and your timing, chances are you will probably get a slice of your favorite right after they take it out of the oven. They have a modest salad and pasta bar, all you can eat pizza and even some dessert. All for $6.09 plus tax. So if you're starving to death or trying to put on a few pounds for that special acting role, head to Cicis Pizza! read more

Came here with some friends after the Birmingham Winter Brew Fest (which was awesome by the way) and we were a tad inebriated to say the least. This place failed in all accounts; Slow service, no pizza ready, argumentive workers, no sense of urgency, one crew member was on the verge of quiting because he had no help to clean or bus tables. There was one customer who demanded his money back because it was taking so long to make a basic pepperoni pizza. One of the crew members got smart with him and they were on the verge of fighting. Sadly, this place wasn't packed, there were no major events going on this side of town so how there wasn't any pizza ready or tables ready on a slow night was beyond me. I may never visit this location again as they truly didn't give AF about any customers during my friends and I visit. We barely ate anything and went to McDonald's next door. For shame. read more

I was able to see the Cici's pizza 2.0 the other day, and was shocked at several features and changes they have made since being opened a few years ago in other locations. Same concept, walk in and pay before you eat then its salad, pasta, pizza, dessert. If you wanna special pizza made, you let the staff know at the end of the line by the dessert station. Now here is the difference, Cicis has gone to a personal pan pizza size 9-10". It use to be a full pizza with standard size slices, and whatever you did not want just got put on the buffet line. Also the drinking glasses have two choices, regular or large. The regular size comes in a paper cup 6-8oz. So I had to make two trips to get a normal size glass of beverage. Not a way I chose to get my exercise. The large size, was probably a bit more and held not a significant bit more liquid. The cinnamon dessert and brownie with powdered sugar use to be my go to. The best part of the meal. The brownies are still perfect with the powdered sugar, but it seems the cinnamon dessert rolls have tumbled. I'm not sure they were not fully cooked when I went. The workers weren't using gloves and just throwing toppings on the pizzas. Mix that with the fact that the pizzas were very undercooked, it was very hard to enjoy. I absolutely love Cicis. Great price for great food. Their garlic sticks are amazing and always disappear so fast once they're served! They have a good selection of pizza and I love that you can order a personal pizza. In saying that though, the pizza can take a while to be made sometimes...and like someone else said in a review - they don't apologise for the wait. It's like staff are mandated to say hi to everyone that walks in the door but that's as far as the friendliness goes. They also have a nice little pasta dish, salad selection and a brownie for dessert. I also like the lemon juice sachets they have available to mix with your water. It's a pretty busy location. We took our daughter and her friends there for her birthday. The pizza is the typical thin crust pizzas. Nothing has changed since I was a kid. Someone was very surprised by was the superb customer service we received as busy as it was! It was one worker who stood out...Tank! He was comical and was getting his job done in the midst. Very hospitable! The kiddos had fun. I think they should expand the location, because to my understanding it is extremely busy like this always. It's hard to review Cicis without bias towards how I remember it growing up. The Cicis of my youth had a long line of pizzas for the choosing, including favorites like Mac n cheese and spinach Alfredo pizza and several dessert options like cinnamon rolls and chocolate dessert pizza. Seeing the Cicis open on Greensprings got me excited for a cheap and delicious trip down memory lane, and I hoped things hadn't changed too much. The price, while naturally higher now, is still great; if you can spend less than $7 for a buffet, then that can't be too bad. The salad and pasta options right before the pizza were simple and basic options, but they're not the main feature. I was surprised at how much shorter the pizza buffet was (about 1/2 the old length), so there were fewer options and some of my favorites were missing. They did add a feature to build your own pizza with favorite toppings, but it wasn't as convenient as finding them on the buffet. There were only 2 dessert options that were well picked over when I got to select and were not as good as I remembered. Cicis is still not a bad deal, considering you can stuff yourself for less than many places charge for a cheap meal. If you're a fan of them from a decade or 2 ago, just adjust your expectations and enjoy a solid pizza experience. read more

As soon as I walked in their was a slice of pizza on the floor that I almost stepped on. Then I payed and got my food but it wasn't even that great. The cheese pizza was cold and the pepperoni's on the pepperoni pizza tasted like hot plastic. The arcades floor was soaked and slippery. There wasn't even a slippery sign up so someone could have easily fell and broke something. Half of the empty tables in the restaurant still had plates on them. You can expect to find the same tasting pizza and same atmosphere for the same price. For $6.09, you can get the adult buffet, which includes the salad bar, pasta bar, and pizza bar. When I came here around lunch time on a Friday, it was pretty busy with the line reaching the door. However, it didn't take long for the line to dissipate.
