Some of my homegirls and I stopped by last week to check out the "Tuesday Jazz Nights" at Ciel Downtown. It was my first time attending and I had a pretty good time. I loved the ambience and enjoyed the live music. The views even at night time are incredible! The service was pretty good considering how busy it was. We were gifted a complimentary glass of wine (red or white) with our ticket purchase and I was not mad at that! I will note that the menu prices are a bit high and food items are limited. For appetizers, we shared the steak toastini. I thought that was probably the best meal of the night. For my main dish, I ordered the shrimp garlic noodles. The shrimp was good but not the rest of the dish (had a sweet taste and a little dry). I was a bit disappointed because the presentation made it look like it was going to be delicious! I would definitely come back to check out their happy hour.
Ciel Downtown was in my bookmarks so when we finally had good non-rainy weather, Ciel it was! We had a reservation and got there early, they accommodated us early. I was told by co-workers that it's usually busy as it's a rooftop but it was pretty empty at 1:15 p.m. on a Saturday. We opted for the unlimited mimosas with champagne, $90 per person. I am not sure if the bill accurately reflected that. The bill was almost $400 and we only had about 5 tapas with the $90 per person option. What was a miss, well for starters they didn't have champagne buckets for the champagne to sit on ice, and they tried to serve us big containers of juice but our table was really small. They should definitely invest in champagne holders for the side of the table to accommodate the juice and the Champagne. The ambiance is ascetically pleasing. The open doors and windows allowed for the spring air to come in which was great because it was so hot! Service was good but not great, our server may have been new, he kind of missed marks, barely checked in, but it was ok. If Ciel used to be a go to for brunch it definitely has lost its touch of customers because at 3 p.m. when we were heading out it was still relatively empty, half capacity. Let's get into it! Arugula Salad - Small but hit by the spot! Flavor was fantastic! Bacon - Good! Hash brown - Delicious, garnished perfect! Chicken Yakitori - Good! I'd probably come back but just for drinks, maybe. I'd likely not recommend but would come to circle back to see if things change.
Overall, the experience was good we had good service. However, I wish that they had a little bit more diversity on the menu. These were the only two items that were vegan friendly. They were good sides but not quite a meal. The ambience was really nice and pretty. They have a outdoor area on the roof. However, I did not love the coed bathrooms and they were quite small as far as the walking area.

We braved it outside for a bit, but quickly retreated to the warmth. Now, the drinks were solid--no complaints there--but let's get to the real star of the show: the shrimp noodle bowl. Holy flavor bomb. That thing was a masterpiece in a bowl. I'm still daydreaming about it and seriously considering a long-distance relationship with this restaurant just for that dish. If you order nothing else (though you probably should), do yourself a favor and get the shrimp noodle bowl. You won't regret it.
Service was excellent. They have a large selection of craft cocktails. My dinner companion had the hot chicken sandwich and I had the burger. The fries were amazing. The burger was incredibly juicy and cooked a perfect medium rare. The music was a little loud but the views are spectacular. If you are looking for a great vantage point in NOMA look no further!!
Every time I have come here there has been a private rooftop event so I have never been up top. Maybe I'm just not lucky or maybe I'm not supposed to ever visit the top but my review for this place is... Call in advance to ensure you can actually visit the rooftop. I do enjoy the lobby hotel bar though lol
Super cute space! We went here for cocktails and appetizers. Currently they are all decorated for Cherry Blossom season including a special menu. This is a roof top bar/restaurant- you will want to make a reservation. The drinks are a little pricey (if you aren't from the area at least) but the Happy Hour deals are great. The chicken skewers are really delicious and really worth it I swear it's like a whole chicken breast per skewer! The cauliflower was really flavorful. The high top tables are a little small if you aren't use getting bites to share so possibly something to mention if you are making reservations and plan on going for more than just drinks. It was a little too cold for enjoying the patio but they still had it open to go out and enjoy the view if you wanted to which was nice. Features gender neutral single stall restrooms with exterior sinks which is really nice set up.
Great improvement from my first visit. I went during a jazz night on a Tuesday. The food & drinks were great. The manager even walked around to chat with guests.

I am sure by the photos I have seen on social media, the spring and summer is definitely a vibe. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Juliana, who is an outstanding host. She was very accommodating, ensuring I could have a space for a large party of friends. She not only got a table , but ensured I was knowledgeable about the food menu. She even gave me info about HH, which I certainly will try out in the coming weeks. She connected me to our server, Alex, who continued the great customer service. I ordered a margarita at the bar, which the bartender was very helpful-as I didn't see anything on the drink menu u I thought would be appetizing. Our party of 8 ordered each item on the food menu, and each dish was delicious. The skewers were flavorful as well as the Mac and Cheese. I don't really believe you can go wrong with ordering anything off the late night menu. I will visit again to try out HH, with hopes it will not disappoint.

The drinks were delicious and we got the creamy orzo pasta that was incredibly inexpensive and so yummy! Awesome amount of food for the price for a side dish! Would totally come back here next time we visit!
A night out in DC landed us at Ciel Social Club. We came from dinner at Ocean Prime and wanted a particular vibe, and Ciel delivered. Our Uber dropped us out front and as we walked in, the bouncer checked our IDs, walked us into the elevator, which then brought us to the rooftop. The ambiance was inviting, calm and spacious. While there was a bit of a crowd, I didn't feel suffocated. We got a drink from the bar and grabbed a high top. The music was good, the staff were friendly, the patrons were all well behaved and the views of the city was a sight to see. We certainly had a good time and it's a must if you're visiting.
Came back for food and they did not disappoint! The drinks are always good here first of all but the orzo is delicious and creamy! Service was a little hectic since we came at the time the restaurant was turning into a lounge. Was kind of hard to get their attention again ! Ambience is nice! Make reservations if you want seating though - walk ins on the weekends hardly get through at the last minute

We came just to relax and enjoy the amazing weather. We automatically went to sit outside in the shade but didn't know we needed to go inside to order drinks which is good to know for next time. The view is great and the drinks were good you'll spend about $40 for 2 drinks while here. The place is beautiful and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Worth the view read more

I finally made it to this rooftop yesterday! They're located at the AC Hotel on K Street! Made a reservation (which I recommend), or you'll be at the bar. I'm still mad at myself for not taking advantage of the beautiful sunset views. That just means I need to come back soon. Probably only for happy hour! The Cherry Blossom themed decor is super cute! It definitely makes for great IG pics! Service by Tori was great. The drinks were good - not overly strong, but very pricey. The listed cocktails were $16 - $20. We tried one drink off the menu, and it was $27! Yikes! Good, but overpriced! There's a limited food menu. This is not a cheap date kind of place but a cool place if you want to make a good impression. Parking is terrible. Just Uber! read more
Ciel Social Club is a beautiful ambiance for big groups! I appreciated the cherry blossom decor - stunning lights that set the mood for my friend's birthday celebrations! However, the drinks here are extremely pricey. I appreciate the bartenders being very accommodating to navigating the menu, but keep that in mind before you head over. You can be paying upwards of $16+ for one beverage. read more
Come for the drinks and the vibes but not the food. Ciel is a great time and the themes are always cute and instagram-worthy. However, the food is mid and you can find better in the area. The bartenders make a MEAN drink even when they're busy and the host staff is so sweet. read more
Made a reservation for Ciel Social for my birthday and it was a lovely experience! The ambiance is beautiful, pink and filled with decorations for cherry blossom season. The seated area is really spacious and has room for big parties and smaller ones. Our server was kind and offered up options for drinks, she was also very flexible when we asked to move to the other side (we wanted a more smaller and intimate space). We got a few drinks and the veggie rolls - the drinks were light but packed a punch! The veggie rolls made for a nice crunchy side to nibble on. The ambiance is very nice and has some areas fit for a date night. For the best service, you probably will have to place your orders at the bar. The ravioli was goid but overly salty. Im not sure if that was unique to my dish or the standard. It's a decent portion as well. read more
I recently moved to DC, and have been bookmarking places to check out that I've heard good things about. Ciel was one of those places. I made an 830 pm reservation for my friend and I. We were running late, so I sent them a text message to let them know. When we got there, the hostess at the front was quick to tell us our table had been given away since we passed the 15 minute grace period mark. We were about 20 minutes late. That was fine, but she didn't let us know to feel free to find seating at the bar or outside on the patio. She basically told us we would have to wait 45 minutes for a table which is not very customary if there are alternative options for seating. This left a bad taste in our mouth, but we found seating outside nonetheless. We ordered drinks at the bar, and I tried to pay with cash. I asked the lady if they took cash. She said yes. Then when I handed it to her, she gave it back saying they only take cards. Ok... maybe she couldn't hear me but my friend heard me say it pretty loudly so I'm not sure. Where Ciel excels is obviously the decor and aesthetic. It's well designed and there's plenty of seating at the patio if unable to get indoor seating. The crowd seems to be 30s+ which I prefer. When we first got there, they were playing house music, but as the night progressed the music got better and they started playing current hits. I ordered their lamb with greens and asparagus. I opted out of the potato purée. I thought the lamb was delicious, although I would have liked an extra leg of lamb. The dish seemed rather small to me, but it tasted good. Came here for happy hour with some girlfriends and it was great! * Location: This lovely bar is on the penthouse floor of the AC Hotel. When you enter into the hotel the personnel will direct you to the elevators, where there will be someone to check your ID and allow you to get on the elevator. * Parking: there is a lot across the street that I parked in (not sure if it's 24/7). Street parking is damn near impossible ESPECIALLY during a happy hour time period, so it's best to either a) use the lot b) Uber or c) park inside a garage in the area. * Ambiance: the aesthetic inside was absolutely gorgeous! Lots of floral within the inside (included a video), and the rooftop area provides a comfortable lounging area and a number of high tables/chairs to enjoy some drinks and great company. *Food/drinks: 10/10! The caprese salad was fresh and crisp, charred octopus was BANGING, and drinks very refreshing. My ONLY hang up is the happy hour pricing. Guys the HH deal for cocktails was $4 off the pricing....when usually that's the price of a typical happy hour drink -_- definitely wasn't expecting that, so just as a heads up! read more

We were celebrating my birthday so it was wonderful. The gentleman at the door were pleasant and escort you to the rooftop.The bathroom I was beautiful and ascetically pleasing. It is all gender. Our sever Zay, was soooo sweet, helpful and kind. The type of server that recommends the highly requested items on the menu. We had the cauliflower. Yum! And the chicken screwers. Also yum! The steak.. eh. But it was really cute! That pineapple upside down cake was made from the from the Heaven above and I can't wait to visit to order it again. read more
This is located in the Ac hotel which is a nice small intimate hotel with a fire place. When yo u arrive the front desk is to the left and go the right of the desk is a host. Who will ask for ID before allowing you on the elevator to the penthouse. I was so excited to visit this establishment. The decor was beautiful. They had DJ that played really good music it was definitely a vibe. They also had outdoor seating but unfortunately it was way too hot to be out there . We had a reservation for 3pm which is still consider " Brunch " . This is where things went downhill at about 3:15 one of my other guest arrive and someone comes to take our drink order. We wait and the guy comes back and wants to reassure what we ordered. Prior to this at that time we were also told to make sure we place our orders soon because the kitchen was about to close down so that they can get ready for dinner at 5pm. We were also told we only had 90mins as soon as we walked in by the host. About 3:30 the server comes back and goes of the menu already letting us know that he doesn't have the croissant item listed on the menu. So we place and order for (2) chicken & waffles and (2) shrimp & grits. he then come back around 3:45/3:50 stated that they no longer have the shrimp & grits because the kitchen has closed for dinner. Despite several people around us receiving their order of shrimp & grits. At this point it is now 4pm we have now waited an hour and only received drinks but also given a limited amount of time. It was upsetting because why allow someone to book for brunch at 3pm know that the kitchen stops serving brunch at 3:15pm. We did ask to speak with manager Danny and did apologize for the inconvenience an took care of our food . Which did finally come out around 4:15pm. This was a beautiful establishment outside of the food service. But overall is nice place with good staff and delicious food. Would love to try this place again under better circumstances. And, I wish them much success and hope they take there customers reviews to help provide better services moving forward. read more
Food portions are small but pretty good. If you don't like cool noodles of any form it's probably not a good place for you though. Place is decorated well. They do have a 2 hour limit on tables so make sure to get there on time if you want to eat, If you are going for drinks then the bar is probably a better fit. Service is ok. They don't wear the same "outfit" so i had some trouble trying to find the server. They all dress nice, they just look like a customer. read more
Located on the penthouse floor of the AC Marriott and offers nice views of the city. It has a club vibe with loud music and very dark lighting. A good date spot. Outside seating requires service from the bar. The bartender was kind and brought me my food because things were so slow. Otherwise you have to go inside and fetch your food yourself after ordering from the bar. Odd. Had the chicken piccata. Was good although cold. Rich sauce and chicken prepared nicely. Overall, not a restaurant. More of a drink spot. read more

Beautiful trendy rooftop bar. Stopped by for drinks on a Friday night and it was very packed. Did not make reservations so had to stand the entire time. Waitress was still very attentive and helpful. Ordered Sadness in Shibuya, which had an after taste like medicine. I did also try Midnight Snack, which was surprisingly sweet and was delicious. A drink I would reorder again. Outside has a pretty view, but too windy and cold so I didn't stay out for long. Beautiful decor inside and an insta worthy spot! read more

My experience was amazing. The food, service, and atmosphere were phenomenal. Our server was Elyse and her food recommendations were so on point. She's very personable too. The bartender, Larry, needs to be on stage. The way he creates those drinks is aahhhmazing. I tried a new drink and it sounded a little weird on the menu, but he told me about it and I'm so glad I tried it. The manager, Jimmy, has excellent customer service and runs a wonderfully professional staff. You can tell everyone is happy to work there. It runs so smoothly, my dinner date and I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Thanks for a great evening! We will be back and bring more ladies with us. read more

I came to this establishment on a warm, Monday night. It's located on the rooftop of the AC Marriott Hotel. Jon entering, you're whisked away in a dimly lit, new-age speakeasy vibe. Although the venue is rather large, the detailed decor makes it feel warm and intimate. We sat outside with views of the Capitol and the city. The staff was attentive and helpful, knowledgeable and kind. The patrons were all so beautiful and similarly kind. Everyone we encountered was jovial, complimentary, and engaging. The food- we came during happy (5-7pm). The bites are $12 each, and they are literally bites... delicious bites, but bites. We got the mini-crab cakes, wings (4 come in the happy hour serving), ahi tuna, and the pork belly (full sized tapas). The crab cake was delicious, actually, everything was delicious. I would recommend just getting regular sized tapas because the small bites can add up quickly with no true substance. The full sized tapas were fairly portioned (palm sized, 4-6oz) without gluttonous amounts. I would come here again for the vibes! The drinks were weak (close to juice) so might consider wine or the restaurant reconsidering their recipes a bit! This rooftop bar has some good views, a patio area when it is warm, and good music. The waitress was so sweet and attentive. Do not come here hungry, as the portions are for a toddler lol! The ambience is the highlight of this spot! I mean the staff is friendly and very helpful, formally dressed and very clean cut! But the space is so dreamy and celestial, with touches of gold and green to keep up with the natural feel. Talk about a feast for your eyes with beautiful lighting from the sun or intimate lighting here and there. The space at night would look very up-class party, but during the day, the sun plays into the room, reflecting and glowing from the decor! Wilmont so kind and welcoming. Ciel is interesting and I think still figuring out exactly what direction they want to go in. I came with some friends on a Friday for happy hour/dinner. Portions are all very small, even for a tapas-type menu. I got the crab cake bites, garlic tiger prawns, and skyline steak. Everything was great, but I was definitely still hungry. I hope the portions get bigger because the overall ambiance is nice. The bar situation was good -- bartenders were quick and attentive and i liked my amargacaliente a lot. Overall, Ciel needs to figure out if they want to be an after work happy hour spot, club, restaurant, or other. I think all could work with time, a wait staff, heat lamps, and actually good portions for the prices. Ill go back, but as a pre or post dinner spot. read more

This place is soooo cute! Wish there was a little more signage outside that let's you know to go into the hotel and up the elevator but you'll figure it out. I was able to find street parking but there's also valet. Now the drinks here are good and the food was even better! I got to steak and it was a hit! And my friend got the lamb chops and salad. We both crushed. I love the mirror in the elevator and the overall ambience is just so lit. It can get pretty crowded like it definitely picks up. A good social place- love to see it! We came during happy hour after hearing they transformed their rooftop into a ski chalet vibe for the holidays. I haven't been here before so I don't know how it normally looks, but the only "ski" aspect of it was a sign with a couple cities listed and a small backdrop to take photos. The rest was decorated normally with no winter vibe, so first impressions were disappointing. Luckily we came for happy hour so prices were lower, but if not it seems like a pricey spot. We didn't get any drinks but did try their crab dip and lamb bolitas. Both were good but nothing amazing. We came on a Monday night so it was pretty quiet and service was quick. It's a good spot to come with a group, but since I was hoping for a holiday pop up I wasn't too impressed. read more

Does Ciel Social Club check ids at the entrance for the entry or is it okay if we dun bring id? Me and my friends are visiting and we dun wanna take passport as an id everywhere we go lol:)
Of course they check ID. When you going out to establishments that serve alcohol they are supposed to check ID.
