My wife and I celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary at Cielo, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. We were seated in a comfortable booth and were greeted by our server, Bryan, who was friendly, personable, and attentive from the moment we arrived. I ordered the Tamarind & Ancho-Glazed Salmon, which Bryan highly recommended, and I'm glad I took his advice--it was absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the Carne Asada Tacos and thoroughly enjoyed them as well. To drink, my wife had a glass of wine while I tried the Mexican Old Fashioned. Bryan actually crafted the cocktail himself, and it was excellent. We wrapped up the evening with a frosty margarita for dessert, which was the perfect ending to a great meal. While the food and drinks were outstanding, what truly made the evening memorable was Bryan. His exceptional service made our anniversary dinner feel genuinely special. The atmosphere at Cielo is equally impressive. The décor, lighting, and beautiful bar create an upscale, energetic vibe that reminded us of a high-end Las Vegas restaurant. Well the initial greeting from the hostess was super sweet and welcoming. Then the rest of the evening was subpar. I ordered birria tacos and my friend ordered a menu item. The server stated - "if we don't have that can you give me another option?" Odd. Do you have it, or no? But okay. She selected the octopus taco. Cool. After about 20 minutes he came back and said they didn't have either. Huh?! You're right next to a Publix and you don't have ingredients (I understand the octopus isn't an easy ingredient to come by, but also you should know that you don't have it). Food and service took forever and they were not busy. My birria was great - but I was starving by the time it arrived. Also, we waited forever for our bill. Another pet peeve when we had somewhere we needed to be and the server said he would be right back earlier.... Several managers were walking around the restaurant and none stopped by the table. Also when leaving, there was a manager at the door and neither the hostess or manager thanked us for our visit. No goodbyes. I mean no wonder the service is bad if management doesn't seem to care about their patrons. Extremely disappointing - especially when there are SO many other options in Nexton. Ambiance: 4.0. It is beautiful and nicely decorated. The seating is interesting. We were in a semi-circular booth with 4 people in our group. It felt really cramped with a small table. Also watch your step! Service: 2.0. We did come in without a reservation. The restaurant was half full. We stood waiting for 20 minutes to be seated in a booth that was empty the whole time. The waiting area is nonexistent causing us to constantly have to move to stay out of the way. I don't believe we were checked on very much and there were a couple of things wrong but corrected when asked. However we'd asked to substitute rice side with lettuce and were charged extra without being informed. I'd asked for extra salad dressing and received a very small shot glass of dressing and was charged for it without being informed of the charge. Food 2.5 Once we were seated, the server brought us the smallest basket of chips and smallest dish of salsa I've ever seen in a Mexican restaurant. It looked more like a 1 person portion. We did ask for water and received a carafe with glasses but the glasses were the size of a shot glass, although they were pretty. I got the chicken Caesar salad. It came as a fully attached head of romaine lettuce with a sprinkling of dressing. There were a lot of croutons the same color as the chicken. I removed the croutons which amounted to about 2 handfuls, and the chicken was a small portion. The lettuce was difficult to cut with a butter knife. It was pretty in presentation though. The food tasted good, not very spicy. If you want the Mexican heat, not sure about that here. Overall it's looks over substance. And very pricy for what you get with small upcharges hidden. I hope this place makes some changes as it is in a great location and could be a fantastic place to go. I'm not returning without the service and substance issues being addressed. read more

The decor is beautiful and you can surely tell that there was much thought behind every detail. Kudos to their interior designer! I made reservations online the night before to ensure we'd have seating on a Saturday night when everyone is out and about. I recommend making reservations even though there is plenty seating. We noticed quite a few people celebrating birthdays, really sweet of the restaurant to come out and serenade them. Added kicker, there's a DJ! We really wanted to love every aspect. The menus both the food and drink were beautiful but were annoying to browse because they were hard to manipulate as you looked through them due to the way they were bounded. (A qwerty code would be a nice touch for folks who may have a hard time managing the menus). Our server was very nice and offered her recommendations for both appetizers and dinner. In this area and especially in the South, you'd expect larger portion sizes but the vibe here is classier so smaller portion sizes. My daughter was surprised that her appetizer was so small. For us gluten free folks, there was not a lot offered clearly on the menu but I'm sure had I asked, the chef or the owners would have addressed my concerns. It seems like they aim to please their customers. The best part of the night was definitely my daughter and I hanging out together making memories (and sipping my Lychee-Mia )! read more

Cielo is a fantastic new addition to Nexton! The restaurant is very well decorated with a cool, inviting ambience that immediately stands out. Service was impressively fast during lunch, which was a huge plus. I also loved the unique water glasses which were a fun detail that added to the experience. I ordered the birria ramen, which was an exciting find since it's not something I typically see on a Mexican restaurant menu. It included a generous amount of birria meat and had great flavor. The mini chimichanga appetizer was also excellent, especially the sauce, which was incredibly tasty. The grande burrito lived up to its name, huge and satisfying, and it met all expectations. Had high expectations for this place, the decor is second to none but all stops there Table for six leaves zero elbow room, very uncomfortable but it is my fault, next time it will just be two of us. Service was a bit slow but understandable because they have only been open for about six weeks. Waitress brought one small basket of chips for six people and when we asked for another one to the other end of the table she replied that she had been told not to bring a second basket, seriously? She must've felt bad when one of us said it would be the first and the last time coming, 10 minutes later she brought a second basket and salsa. I know of no other Mexican restaurant to be so stingy with the chips and the salsa in small dishes Food was ok, nothing out of the average Mexican restaurant. Came to check out a New Mexican restaurant. The vibe and decorations are beautiful and everything was designed for good quality. We can during an off time so while it started out empty there, it quickly filled up and was crowded. Service was good and food was delicious. If you don't like cilantro be sure to ask for less or none bc everything does have cilantro. Our alcohol drinks were good and there was a pitcher of water at the table. Everyone enjoyed their meal and mine specifically was the cielo burrito which was so big that I have a whole half left. This charming Mexican restaurant has been on my list to go to for a while now and I wish I had gone sooner. The inside is decorated so beautifully with booths and tables and beautiful decor. I was greeted right away and seated after making a reservation. The reservation was probably not needed, but I did so anyways. The meal came with complementary chips and salsa and I'm not talking about the cheap kind of salsa you find in the store. The menu has many options for every pallet. My friend bought the Texas rice, which I forgot to get a picture of. I bought the grilled octopus with potatoes and it was so good! It was grilled perfectly and was so tender. I ordered a white sangria and my friend and I decided to buy the patron margarita flight. That flight is not for the weak of heart! It was very strong, but delicious. There is plenty of indoor seating with booths and comfortable chairs, even the bar stools are couch-like. The restaurant decor itself was appealing. The music was at an acceptable volume. When we walked in, there was hardly anyone in the restaurant and the hostess said it would be a 20 to 30 minute wait. We asked if they could please just sit us at a table for drinks and chips and salsa while we waited After speaking to the manager, they allowed it. The server we had was not very experienced it seemed, as multiple of the items we ordered came incorrect and had to be redone. She also didn't check on us without us flagging her down. The food was just average. I really wanted to love this place, as it's conveniently located and I thought it would be a more upscale Mexican option but there was nothing upscale except the price. There was not many vegan options. Some of the food was presented beautifully but the flavors did not match the look. Overall the best item we had was the cauliflower. The salsa was decent. We will probably not go back here. Although taco boy is hit or miss, I find them still to be the best Mexican option, outside of driving to Charleston for Bartaco or The Matador. read more

We will definitely give this place another try but our first visit was a solid three stars. Hopped in for lunch and the interior is beautifully done. Wide open space with very comfortable seating with a mix of large and medium booths plus tables. They have an expansive menu with unique options as well as a large cocktail list. The food though was slightly underwhelming with the meat in the enchiladas being a little dry and the sauce was not very flavorful. We did get the lunch portion so we knew it would be a smaller portion, but some folks may be surprised how small it is. Perfect for us though, I hate wasting food. I loved the half circle or as I call them "bucket booths" booths the colors very warm and inviting... service was good...I appreciated the, I assume, managers checking in on the tables ...and of course I advised them of every thing I wasn't pleased with and they were open to it. However I can see why they have a 3 on here because the Food was not the best ..the guacamole was just plain smashed avocados topped with a sprinkle of pico and some type of oil I could've did without . I had to ask them for a side of pico(which I was charged for and it was only about 1oz or less), lemon and salt to jazz it up and even still was not enjoyable ... I also had the Baja (fish) tacos which I wouldn't get again however my husband liked them . My friend had the Caesar salad that I tried and the dressing is different however they just need to add more ,. Maybe put some under the lettuce along with drizzling it on top because she had to ask for more dressing and it still wasn't enough. One thing I would get again is the drink - I forgot the name but it had lychee in it .... also the chicken chimichangas.. they were very flavorful ... my friend had the blackended salmon tacos that she liked which also could use more sauce. The atmosphere of this restaurant is fun, modern and chic, and a bit upscale but still somewhere to relax and enjoy a margarita. I have been twice and enjoyed it both times! The interior is well decorated. They need to add acoustic tiles to the roof to dampen the noise, quite loud. As for the food, it was edible. I wouldn't call it authentic Mexican in any way. I had the queso app and it was bland. No flavor just cheese. Salsa was very mild. For the main course we had the chicken burrito and the Bandeja Paisa. The burrito needed spice and flavor. The Bandeja steak was just a piece of meat, no spice and little flavor. The Walmart chorizo has more flavor than the piece I had. The arepas tasted of dough. The pork belly was bland and overcooked. We asked for hot sauce and told they had some. Came out with a saucer of tomatillo salsa and told that was the spiciest thing they had and charged us an extra dollar for it. The drink for the bar was decent. Not sure worth $15 though. If you want real Mexican or spice and flavor I wouldn't go here. read more

If you value fresh ingredients and sauces specifically paired to the meal, try it! The beet "salad" was gorgeous and so delicious. Tamale was particularly tasty- every bite! I really wanted to love this place because the decor and atmosphere are absolutely stunning. It's a beautiful restaurant, and to be fair, the food was actually decent--the flavors were there and the quality was good. Unfortunately, comfort levels made it impossible to enjoy. Our Incident The biggest issue was a major mishap where a tray of fajitas was spilled onto one of our guests and all over the floor. It was a mess, loud, and honestly stressful moment for everyone and the server. While accidents happen, what was shocking was the lack of recovery from the management. The manager never came over to check on us, apologize, or ensure our guest was okay. To top it off, there was no compensation offered--not even a discount on the spilled meal or a round of drinks for the trouble. It felt very dismissive. The replaced steak fajitas arrived immediately but was a mix of steak and pork, not what was originally ordered. The Atmosphere & Comfort While the restaurant looks great, the seating is a different story.The booths are incredibly small, tight, and unnecessarily elevated a foot off the floor. I later saw a child 3 booths up from us, must've been 6-8 years old misstep and fall on the floor. We felt completely cramped throughout the meal, which made it hard to relax, especially after the chaos of the spill. Final Verdict It's a shame because the kitchen is clearly doing a good job, but the management and front-of-house service are severely lacking. If you're looking for a comfortable night out and want to try this restaurant sit at the bar, the outside or table, you don't want to be jammed into one the booths. We'll definitely try it again but for right now it's a 1 star review. Hopefully in the upcoming months things get better. read more

It was a long wait to be seated although multiple tables were open. The staff was pleasant but lackluster. Two big garaga type windows were left open behind the bar, do it was cold inside. Very inapropriate loud techno music was playing. My wife's Cielo bowl came out with a chipped bowl rim. The meal was replaced but not comped. The Birria Ramen soup bowl had very little meat and condiments The Texas Dip appetizer was the only item we enjoyed. The steak & cheese burrito was so so. We were a party of 3 and sat at the bar since there wasn't anyone else there. First off, the barmaid/waitrmess never smiled. When our chips and salsa came there was one very small container of salsa , about 1/4cup, and was told she couldn't bring anymore unless we requested it, which we than did. along with our order. After waiting an hour for our meal, we decided to cancel our order and left. We will never go back again and will never recommend this establishment!!!
