Great selection of cigars with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I have been coming here for years and they have always been extremely helpful picking out new cigars or fixing lighters that have broke or helping me send them in to get serviced. There are a few other places that offer cigars, but not the selection or quality as Tinder Box. A lot of stores keep the wrong temperature and/or humidity for storing their cigars so I usually avoid those places at all costs. So if you enjoy a good cigar or pipe then check them out. I drove the hour and a half from Aberdeen to check this place out, and they were incredibly friendly and helpful, as well as having a better selection of pipe tobacco than anywhere I've seen in Washington so far, properly stored and cared for and well rounded, with house blends as well as famous international brands such as MacBaren. You can buy by the half ounce if you want to try many different options or stock up in bulk and they also do mail order in the event you have to make a three hour round trip, as I did. They also have a number of good pipes and a decent selection of cigars and other tobacco. Very good shop. read more

Tinder Box is my go-to place for all of my Hookah Shisha. They have a much wider selection than other smoke shops that I have been to in Tacoma and the customer service is great. Amber, the store manager knows me by a first-name basis and the owner, Jeff is extremely accommodating. I come in at least once a week to re-up on flavors and if they are out of what I need, then they would be sure to place an order or help me find a comparable alternative. One of my favorite things about Tinder Box is the atmosphere, it is well-lit, clean, and properly maintained. It does not have the gross vibe that most smoke shops do, so I can feel totally comfortable shopping here. They have a wide range of cigars and other tobacco as well, but I do not shop from that selection, so I cannot speak on it. However, if you are looking for a go-to smoke shop, then this is where you need to be. read more

Went there in July '12 for a Drew Estate promotional event and will never go back - prices average $2 more per average stick than anywhere else in the Puget Sound. Promotion was misleading and I left the store feeling ripped off and lied to. No wonder this is the only Tinderbox I know that still exists - Poor Tacoma. read more

Extremely helpful staff and excellent selection of tobaccos. Went in to order some tobacco from an online store and to my surprise the owner already had another order for the same tobacco in the works. Still waiting to hear back on that order but in the mean time bought some tobacco called UBC to try out and will most certainly be going back for more. The prices for tobacco are very similar to other tobacco shops and the fact that it is an actual tobacco shop and not just a head shop is even more impressive. read more

Tinderbox is a little more expensive for cigars, especially after visiting Ohio and their cheap and non highly taxed state cigars, but they make up for it with pipe tobacco and other stuff. Local shops found in cities around Tacoma may offer cheaper alternatives for cigars but they are often hard to find. Tinderbox still offers expert advice on cigars, pipe tobacco, and huks (sp) and that value is needed to find your smoking needs. My boyfriend and I went out of our way to shop here yesterday. He really likes what you sell. However it would have been nice if you were open. We waited until 11:10, Sunday is listed as opening at 11:00. Nothing. We knocked. No sign on the door. 11:00 means you have to fit it in to shop at your store. We went to Total Wine today.
