No A/C in summer is killer but so is the damn Tijuana hotdog and mac n cheese. Hotdog was even better on corn tortilla instead of flour. A member of my group was planning a lunch and was thinking of coming here until I told him about my experiences. Thankfully, he changed it to LaVergnes instead. As a result of that conversation I was made aware of the owner's reply to my review. I have no reason to lie about my experiences at Cigars & Stripes. In fact, quite the opposite: I was hoping that this would be a good place for us to catch the PPVs (that didn't involve having to drive all the way to Macs Wood Grilled). Additionally, my partner was there and can confirm the whole thing. But I find it very telling that the owner of this establishment chose to lie about his behavior instead of taking his potential customers' feedback seriously. Telling, yes, but not surprising given his response to other women here who have reported misogyny and harassment at his business. You have created a space that is unwelcoming and unsafe for women. I look forward to the day when this owner retires and hopefully sells it to someone who will respect all of their customers and make them feel welcome... not told that they can't do a job because of their genitals or deal with a bouncer trying to stamp their breasts. Simply amazing and my friend John Saaman told me about this place back in 2018 and I'm just trying this out now and it's amazing and the staff is very accommodating and food is tremendously good and all I tried was Wings that were smoked wings. The sauces are awesome as well and if you love spicy hot sauce and you like a home atmosphere and love people as I do these people are amazing and down to earth and very warm. I'll be back to have more awesome food and enjoy cigars and great people as this was an awesome time and very nice place with art work and moderation and for all ages let me tell you. 1st time here, we decided to get a Lil bit of everything to taste. Wings are a must, but I wasn't crazy about the sauces. Taco was soo good, maybe next time I will pay to add guacamole and sour cream. Rib tips were a bit too greasy, more fat than meat. The burger I was excited to try bcuz of the description but was a Lil disappointed cuz it was lacking flavor. Nice selection of beer. SSSSSMOKIN' This Berwyn legend is beloved by locals and has seen its fare share of drama. C&S is known for many things: smoked chicken wings, serving split pea soup during screenings of 'The Exorcist' in October, a funhouse mirror in the women's restroom (that has since been removed), and so much more. I know them best for the excellently spicy food items on their menu. Notably their 'habanero hott link' sandwich ($7.75), which is a giant pork sausage made with apples and cherries served on a toasted french roll, topped with sweet glazed onions. You get to choose between giardiniera potato salad and bbq beans; I went with the beans. The pork link was very tasty with great heat....but I was charged an extra dollar for a small cup of beans on the side? That's pretty shady fellas, especially when it seemed like that was included with the hot link. Whatever, I've spent $1 on WAY dumber sh*t. Next up was the 'Tijuana street danger dog' ($3.50) which was a bacon-wrapped hot dog topped with cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, and a grilled serrano pepper served in a tortilla. I absolutely ADORED this item and will definitely return to try it again. Big fan. Smoked wings (7 for $7.75) come with corn salsa and garlic bread with a lime wedge and choice of ranch or blue cheese. It's accompanied by a caddy containing a quartet of sauces: 'sweet & hot', 'regular' wing sauce, 'smoker' habanero, and 'route 666' death sauce. I love that you get such a variety....and the wings themselves are awesome!!! Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 3 Jennifer P astutely pointed out that Cigars & Stripes didn't have air conditioning. Fans, yes. A/C, no. For a guy like me who's got thick skin and doesn't notice or care about such things, that's fine....but for a pregnant woman in mid-July, hmmmm not the best situation. The bathrooms are laughably small. The sink, toilet, and hand dryer are literally stacked on top of each other. My engineering estimate is that the men's room is 3' x 2'.....easily the tiniest bathroom I've ever set foot in. My coat closet at home is bigger, yikes. Ronnie Lottz - the owner - is a great guy. He takes pride in his menu, his business, his customers. And it shows - C&S is rocking a solid 4.5* rating on Yelp. After a ton of drama about that goofy mirror in the women's room (so stupid), it was finally taken down. I was here the night that the news story broke and the place went nuts. Pretty cool to be a part of history. Yelp HQ actually stepped in and flagged a bunch of troll reviews when this all went down but thankfully none of those 1* reviews stuck. It was a lot like when that Minnesota dentist (the one who killed Cecil the Zimbabwean lion) had his business page swamped with crap reviews and Yelp had to take them all down for "failing to capture an authentic consumer experience." *TL ; DR* Fantastic selection of food for spiceheads, solid beer selection (on tap as well as bottles), and some great events are hosted here. Stand-up comedy seems to be a weekly thing, and in the fall some 'darker' stuff goes down here, like fire swallowers, midget wrestling, and other crazy shizz like that. Keep in mind that the place is small, so larger groups are not advised. Cigars & Stripes is a great place to grab a bite while you watch some B-horror movie or Blackhawks game projected on a screen at the bar. This place is great! Outside is somewhere you might just drive past if you aren't ~in the know~, and inside is a little different. It is kept very clean, but the vibes are just very eclectic and a little "edgy". Lots of interesting art, old timey posters, and some mummies and goth vibes as well. There is indoor seating, a small beer garden out back, and when the weather is good, they have a tent outside. I have only tried the wings, but they are awesome. The sweet sauce is really good and so is the regular buffalo. I have been too much of a wuss to try to spicier stuff yet, but have heard great things if you can handle the heat. I've aslo heard the rib tips and burgers are good, but I can't move away from the wings to give them a try. The wings are perfectly charred and so juicy. Love that they serve them naked, and then provide lime. Never seen that before but it's an excellent touch. Beer wise, there is good variety and it's always cold. Lots of stuff that isn't usually on tap at other places, so really nice to get some different beers on draft. Overall, really good place with an oddball vibe. read more

This restaurant is the definition of getting catfish restaurant style. Heard good things, the food looks good on pics, but came here and it did not meet my expectations. The only good thing is that the barbecue is smoked. We got wings and rib tips, both were overhyped. The wings did not have any flavor, and the tips were hard to eat and not falling off the bone like other places. The plates come with a small sauce that's definitely not enough for the food, and the sides came in the same sauce container. so in two bites, you were pretty much done with your side.they also did not have French fries which was shocking . We talked to the people next to us, and they said that the sausage was good, so that actually may be worth getting the service was also great because our waitress was very nice. The food itself took a bit long to come out, but nothing too crazy. The atmosphere was very cool and I'd say the best thing about this place. Overall, the food disappointed us and I don't think I will be coming back, but there are some things that might be good but don't get the wings and the tips. They are just OK, maybe the outer part that smoky may taste good, but the rest of it has no flavor and the serving sizes were small for the price. read more

I'd be coming around here quite a bit if it was in my neighborhood. Stopped by just once to see Beer Hippies play a show. Food/Cigars: There truly is a cigar shop as you walk in. I'm going to oust myself as a non smoker now, and just admit I don't know how good their selection or prices are on that front. On food, I was expecting a meat heavy spread, but the menu was unexpectedly vegetarian friendly. They had a pizza with corn and salsa that was just MMMmm. Got to chatting with the owner and his kids are veg and he's even thought about expanding the options. Thank ya, man. Beer: extremely good amount of options in beer types. All I can tell you is that they had two different types of sours on draft. That's where my attention stopped. Music: The music set up is different. The bar area is like an island, with seating all around it. Being limited in space, they cleared out one side of the bar, with the band and equipment fitting on a small stage and the cleared out side of the bar. Additional thoughts: there's no ATM, the closest is the gas station down the block. The over 21 stamp was Danny Devito's face. read more
