I love the burgers here and whenever I'm in the neighborhood I like to grab a one. Tonight I ordered the fried egg burger with the duck fat fries and a chocolate brownie a la mode to go. The passion fruit martini was stronger than I expected it to be. Everything was delicious. My server Jayme was being shadowed and they were both quite pleasant. I sat in the dining area with the low tables and it was fairly quiet, the bar side was louder but not too loud. *I wanted to note that the front entrance is not wheelchair friendly as previously indicated, there is a step. UPDATE: I just tasted the chocolate brownie a la mode and if you prefer a more cake-like brownie, then this is the brownie for you. Definitely a local fav spot. They're known for their duck fat fries. They pulled pork sandwiches here are for sure a go.

I'd like to give this place 3.5 or maybe even 4 stars. Let's cover the good things first. They have a lot of space, and it's all very comfortable. They also have a bunch of good TVs showing all kinds of sports. The staff is amazing, and very attentive. Service is fast. Their outdoor space is also great in the summer. They also have a good selection of cocktails and beers, and even better, they have really good daily specials ($5 margaritas on Wednesday, anyone?). The only thing that is lacking for me is the food. It's not bad by any means. In fact the duck fat fried are quite awesome. But the rest of the food is just 3 stars - just okay. I've never had a bad meal there, but also nothing outstanding. I promise I'll be back, this is a semi-regular place for me. I love the staff, the drinks and it's a really great place to catch a game. But if I want a more standout meal, it'll probably be elsewhere in the neighborhood. read more

Impressed with Fat Duck bar food thus far--I don't expect much from bar food and drinks, but I have to say Fat Duck is above par for food we have tried. Food: Had the salmon, which was tasty and not dry. I normally would not order salmon at a bar, but I was pleasantly surprised (just a little too much salt on the spinach for me). Also had the fish and chips, which was crispy. Drinks: Cucumber mojito was okay and had the cucumber margarita, which was decent. Service was great and has been every time we've stopped in. Outdoor seating is a plus! It started raining when we were there and didn't get a drop on us under the covered area. The bar area outside is great for watching sports games or mingling. P.S. We came here to celebrate my nephew's 8th graduation in a very casual way. My sister picked this place since it is in their neighborhood and nearby the school. And I was hesitant... It is definitely a neighborhood spot. TVs were on, music playing, but volumes were appropriate and we were able to hear each other and have conversations. It was busy and we were hungry. Our waitress' name was Callie and she was on it. Friendly and efficient. We got quite a few items and we all shared. Bar food for sure, but it was a bit better than I expected it to be. We were seated at their high top tables and it was comfortable with enough room. The nachos were crispy and generous amount of toppings. The calamari and flatbread were average but that's not always a bad thing when coming to a place like this one. Everything came out nice and hot. If I were to rate FatDuck on the outdoor seating itself, then it would be five stars! I think there's plenty of outdoor seating, which makes for a nice place to hang out on a summer day. They have beers on tap and bottle options. I liked that there was a variety of beers on tap. I haven't tried any non-beer drinks here, so I'd be curious to know how those are. The food here is lackluster. We've ordered the Duck Fat Fries a couple times. It comes with three sauces: garlic aioli, chipotle ketchup, and Mexican pesto. The pesto wasn't very flavorful and was pretty watery. I keep ordering the Fish Tacos, even though I've disliked them each time. I am making this review so I can remember to not order the Fish Tacos. It's one of the better restaurants in Forest Park. Has a menu of typical pub favorites. There's many beers and cocktails as well as burgers and fried stuff. Kind of surprised about it. Maybe it gets much busier on weekends. Has lots of beers and cocktails. It's about $9 for the Classic Gin Martini. This is a good price. Many places will charge a lot more for it. The food menu has meaty and vegetarian options. Each of us got the Beyond Burger. It's $13 and comes with a side. Filling meal. The burger was loaded with lettuce, onions, and other toppings. Has plenty of healthier and not so healthy choices. If wanting to eat some duck fat, you can do that. My guy picked out this place because 1) we were trying to explore forest park more and 2) duck is amazing, am I right?! Well it was our normal Wednesday date night and we slide in here super late. We ordered two margaritas as it was a special for the night. For food, we ordered the grilled calamari, an order of their wings and he wanted the brisket platter (loves brisket). They took their time to prepare the food but it was brought to us in a decent timing and not all at once which I appreciated. The calamari - interesting take to do a Thai chilli sauce/ marinade for dipping. Definitely gave me a salad vibe rather than an appetizer. I like the charred bits the most. The wings - the rub wasn't as dry as it could've been but the wings were meaty and juicy. I appreciate them but they didn't hit the spot. The beef brisket (his words) - a bit chewy but juicy nonetheless. Wasn't a fan of the sauce. The fries were a thumbs up. Hand cut and old fashion just how we like em. The Cole slaw needs to be improved. Again it gave the impression it was supposed to be a light papaya salad rather than your bbq joint Cole slaw. Aht aht. Overall, we would return but not our top pick. We really have a craving for duck and seeing that nothing on the menu was, definitely hurt our hearts. I first tried FatDuck while living in Forest Park seven years ago. I have since moved but will make the drive to visit this amazing establishment. Service is always 10/10. The prosecco mule never misses. My husband always gets the fire alarm burger with duck fat fries- 10/10. I've had the buffalo chicken wrap, the traditional cheeseburger and their pulled pork sliders and all have been excellent, but the burgers on the pretzel bun are the clear winners at FatDuck. We heard their fries were awesome and had to give it a try. We chose to go around 4pm on a Saturday and beat the dinner crowd, sat at the bar and had speedy service all around. They also have wood bar toppers to give you for food orders at the bar since the way the bar top is originally built isn't the best for eating. There is a decent tap list and their duck fries were as good as claimed. I can't speak for their busier times but when we went it was clean, we were greeted and our food came out quick. Started the afternoon with DuckFat Fries, great combo, large portion enough for 3-4 people.... then finally decided Beef brisket platter (got fries as a side forgetting that I had DuckFat Fries coming as a app. , yup a nice portion of side fries! A friend wanted to come here for a lunch date. It's literally up the streets from where I live. Let's just get to the point of this review. I wasn't impressed with this place. I do have to say that our server was so nice and attentive. But the food wasn't good. I ordered the Catfish Po'boy sandwich with truffle fries. My sandwich wasn't well cooked, The fish was under cooked inside that it was falling apart making the bun soggy. The truffle fries parmesan cheese stank so bad. Very over-powering. OMG. OMG! OM Effing G! Someone recommended the pot roast skillet, and it is the BEST! I am never attempting to cook beef again when I have access to the Fat Duck. Pot Roast Skillet - amazing! Burger - wonderful! Turkey chili -wonderful! Black bean wrap - seriously good. Their cob salad -- I sap out the blue for cheddar and add avocado and it is perfect. Duck fat fries? Well, yum! Very average bar food and beer menu. The fat duck fries are gross; mine were mostly soggy inch-long pieces that tasted rancid like the fryer grease hadn't been changed. I had the Fat Duck burger, which was a very average, unseasoned burger that had some kind of sweet. relish on it. Gross. They don't put salt on the table, apparently in the misguided belief that their food doesn't require it. This was my first and last visit. Have been coming here periodically (say 5-10x a year) for 10 years. Good reliable neighborhood bar. I would definitely describe it as a bar ambiance, not a restaurant. Food is decent bar food. I recommend burgers, sandwiches and wings. Very limited wine here, or rather only wine that will give you a headache. Cocktails are straightforward. RAT INFESTED PATIO: Dined in last night with my aunt who suggested we go there. Our server was very nice and the food was okay, not worth complaining for the lack of flavor of the shrimp tacos or the soggy smoked wings. As we were sitting there finishing our meal we saw rats running around the patio!! Instead of making a scene we walked out of there but before we did we spoke to the manager. Never once did she apologize, she was extremely rude and gave us attitude saying what do you expect us to do we are outside. She said they get an exterminator out twice a month and there was not a single rat trap in sight. Ive never spoken to a manager with such a disrespectful attitude. Twice a month and still there are rats running around the patio? This place has a serious rodent issue. I cannot imagine how many there must be in the patio alone much less behind the scenes. Honestly we didn't know what to expect from this joint! I went looking for the "burger of the morning " which has duck bacon in which I'm a fan of, but it was not on the menu at the restaurant. So I ordered a cheese burger and duck fat fries, my lady ordered the beet salad with salmon..... We both was impressed with how well EVERYTHING TASTED! My cheese burger bun was cold(the reason I couldn't give five stars), but the meat was well seasoned, veggies was fresh and the duck fat fries was heavenly! My lady's salad had tons of beets ,beautiful candied pecans and very well cooked salmon..... Yummy! Our waitress was very good and was very nice accommodating our needs.
