This is the Lil' Q Platter! Totally enough for two people!

We tried Q-BBQ on a whim, and I'm so glad we did. We went with the Lil Q Platter, and for two people, it's the perfect amount. The $24.99 price is a great deal in my opinion. The meat is fantastically flavorful. The ribs were my favorite meat. But let me tell you, the mac n cheese (topped with corn bread) is baller. The slaw was good as well, though there is nothing unique about it. The young men working late-afternoon on 3/2/24 were so upbeat and helpful. I appreciated the service a ton. We took a table for two by the window, and it was lovely to enjoy excellent food while people-watching! Our dinner was on the early end, but by the conclusion of our meal, they became busier. They have a really great hand-washing station. They do serve alcohol that includes several Revolution options in addition to other brands. With the platter and two beers, we spent around $40, and that's a great price considering how much we enjoyed everything.

The restaurant has plenty of outdoor seating and indoor seating. I had the pulled chicken and fries. The chicken was decent. It was a lot of fries for a small. It comes with hush puppies which are very tasty. The burnt ends are more like a bbq pot roast to me. The staff were very friendly.

Love the convenience of this Marion Street location, right in the center of downtown Oak Park, within walking distance to my favorite book store and around the corner from a great movie theater. I arrived half an hour early to an appointment across the street so I got a sandwich and some work done in the dining area which was super chill. Very clean. Peaceful! Great service, too. Friendly and prompt. I'll come here again, for sure.

This is my 2nd time here, the first was for carryout. We came for the Jazz Thaw festival in Oak Park. A few venues were involved. Food, drinks, live music? Even in 'still-pandemic' times, I'm in! It was packed of course, but seats opened up continuously. We ordered, were given numbers, and sat at a booth. The waitress would bring the food by looking at the table numbers. InsteI got tacos with pulled pork and burnt end brisket, and mac Q Roni and cheese. Both were SO good! The brisket was moist and flavorful, not tough like I was worried it would be. The mac Qroni was good, especially with CORNBREAD crumbs on top! My other party got brussel sprouts, QCumber and tomato salad and pulled chicken it came with hushpuppies (called 'Qpups. Maybe ease up on the 'Q-talk?). What I tasted was pretty good. I got a soft drink that was refillable. I guess I am taking a star off because of the soda dispensers. I know the new, endless combination types are very expensive, but I was NOT comfortable refilling my soda with the same cup (they would not let me get a new one) by pressing the metal tab. For sanitary reasons we should get new cups everytime, or at least get the dispenser that uses buttons instead of tabs. I'd definitely go back but for carryout only.

    This crap

For the price the food is some shit. I've been gone for 30 yrs and this is what you new Chicagoans except? How do you not give bread when you order hot links? And the say you get hush puppies with your ribs wait till you se the fn hush puppies, if you can recognize them. I'm just all around pissed the F off. I will never ever go there again. I don't care if they are last BBQ in the State of Ill. Now after tasting this horrible presentation of BBQ. The ribs are tough, the coleslaw is bland, and the little tiny Winnie hush puppies was hard as hell. The only thing that may be worth consuming is the bbq sauce. Do yourself a favor and never go there!

It is not bad. The food is decent and readily available upon an order. The service is great. The atmosphere good too. It wasn't crowded. The sauces are good. It is overall good. Yet not better than some other BBQ spots in Illinois.

As soon as I walked in, I saw so many goodies I knew I was taking home. They had a very well curated selection of fancy condiments from small makers, rare ingredients, and the highest quality version of many every day foods! Everyone behind the counter was so friendly and knowledgeable. I had to try one of their sandwiches and got the salmon po boy at their recommendation. It was really well seasoned and super fresh with a very generous slice of fish on it. Definitely coming back for another one next time I'm in the area! Carnivore in Oak Park…read more This is a butcher shop and fish market that also sells sandwiches I can't really decide if the old time decor is by design or if the place is really needing an upgrade. I actually think it's the latter. It's a lot smaller than I imagined with very limited seating. We went here for the grilled salmon sandwich. We had seen many online reviews saying it is amazing. They make the sandwiches right in front of you, so you know that they are fresh. We took our sandwiches to go and by the time we got them home , they were cold. The fries traveled well, but again they were also cold bu the time we got home. The grilled salmon sandwiches were very good, but not great , and I really would have loved to have eaten it warm. Prices are on the high side for the butcher meats. But I guess you should expect that since they are an artisanal butcher. I did not like the look of some of the meats in the cases. Would we go back? Maybe to try the Bacon Burger. But we would definitely recommend eating your food in the butcher shop and not taking it to go. I have just found out that that are moving into Carnival Grocery in Oak Park.

I mean one hand on your sandwich and one hand on the barbeque squeeze bottle. You need to squirt the sandwich before each bite... If it is not dripping your not using enough. Give it a try at least once. The fried mushrooms and onion rings were also a favorite when growing up. Now that my husband and I are trying to eat better... We get one meal with coleslaw and fries and one coleslaw with corn and we divide them up so we are not eating too many fries. They have fountain drinks and you fill your own cup. There is plenty of seating. Tbere is a covered indoor patio section and picnic tables out on the grass on the other side of the parking lot too. The bathrooms are cramped but at least they have bathrooms. They have video gaming machines, and lots of televisions with closed captions. They play oldies music loud enough that you don't hear the people at the next tables conversation. The dining room is very relaxing and service is fast and friendly. I'm actually glad they were closed today, because Chef Daddy's really delivered on flavor and hospitality. I live in the Oak Park area and have passed this spot countless times over the years, but it wasn't until I started seeing glowing reviews all over social media that I finally decided to stop in. The place is small and quaint, with just a few tables for dining in. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by one of the owners. After taking another guest's order, she came over and took mine. I ordered the catfish dinner with double mac and cheese and a side of greens with smoked turkey. While waiting, the owner came out to tidy up the dining area and asked how I heard about them. I told her about the recent social media buzz. A few minutes later, she brought out a couple of samples -- a piece of smoked turkey butt (delicious) and a bean and okra concoction (also really good). That personal touch made the experience even better. Once my order was ready, I headed home to dig in. Let's start with the greens and cornbread -- both were on point. The greens were well-seasoned, tender but not mushy, with a nice little bite and not overly greasy. The cornbread was semi-sweet, moist, and made with white cornmeal -- a perfect match for the greens. Then came the catfish -- and let me tell you, it was real catfish, not swai or some mystery fish like some places try to pass off. The portion was generous, with a great balance between the fish and the sides. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection -- honestly better than Brown's, which to me just tastes like fried MSG. Now, for the mac and cheese -- this was the only miss for me. It had a sweet note, possibly from sugar and nutmeg, which isn't my style when it comes to mac. I know some people like it that way, but I prefer a more savory, cheesy version. Overall, I'll definitely be back -- especially for the catfish, greens, and that tasty bean/okra dish. Next time, I just might try the barbecued turkey butt.
