First time here and had an amazing experience. The food was amazing and delicious. Papaya Salad: I always order this dish when I hit up any Thai restaurant and this place did not disappoint me. The salad was well marinated and well-balanced with the flavors. Corn Salad: I have always heard about corn salad, but never had the chance to try it until this time. AND I absolutely love it! The flavor is very similar/same to the papaya salad, and it does come with some papayas within it! I would definitely order this again in the future. And I love how they used fresh large shrimps instead of dried shrimps (used in the papaya salad). Pork Liver Salad: I'm not a big meat person, but this dish was recommended by my Thai friend. This dish is not bad, I actually enjoyed it and it's definitely worth trying! If you are not afraid of trying new dishes then I think this is definitely with the try! It has a sour taste and is well-balanced with the kick from the onions that it comes with. Pork Shoulder: I have tried better pork shoulder in another Thai restaurant. This dish was a bit oily, so I'm not a huge fan of it, but the rest of my friends did. So, if you are a fan of meat then it is still worth ordering. Spicy Basil: This is my friend's favorite dish and she loved it! She enjoyed this dish so much! Seafood Po Tak Hot Pot: This is very similar to Tom Yum soup but with basil added to it. I love seafood, but the amount of seafood and the variety of seafood included is limited. I have tried better ones, so this can be a skip. But overall the flavor is still nice and enjoyable, just wish it had included more seafoods. Seafood Sukiyaki: I was really surprised by the flavor, amount and the seafood of this dish. The flavor of this dish was amazing. Even though this was ordered at the end, we still managed to finish it. Sticky Rice: if you never had sticky rice then I suggest you trying stick rice over jasmine rice. I thought Thai sticky rice is similar to glutinous rice, but I was wrong. It is actually jasmine rice soaked in water overnight and then steamed. It is definitely worth ordering instead of the ordinary jasmine rice. Overall, the food was authentic and amazing. I'm actually shocked to see not much pictures posted. This restaurant is definitely worth an in-person visit, the restaurant itself got an amazing and coming design. I ordered delivery from Cilantro Thai and it was one of the most authentic tasting Pad Thai I've had in Chicago. I didn't try anything else, but the medium level chicken Pad Thai was delicious. I saw many reviews about it being "too spicy" and those are true. Even as a Korean person who eats extremely spicy food often, I was surprised by the unexpected level of heat. I was glad I went with medium because if I got any level higher, I would've suffered a bit. But Thai chili peppers are one of the spiciest chili peppers and that heat made it taste even more authentic. It was addicting. And the portion size was generous too. I will be adding Cilantro Thai as one of my go-to Thai food spots going forward. I can't speak to service or ambiance since I got a delivery, but the quality of packing was good too. read more

This place is so lovely! Very welcoming and they have cute chalkboards with their recommendations. I like their Thai ice tea and Thai iced coffee, but they don't have the strongest flavors so it's mostly sweet. It's byob which is perfect for my sober friends. My fave place to get Tom Yum Noodle Soup! So... there're different Asian noodle soups. There's the ramen. There's pho. Then there's Tom Yum Noodle Soup. It is NOT the same as Tom Yum soup with noodles added. It's a complete different broth. It's so hard for me to find a Thai restaurant that serves this dish, which is a Thai street food. I found Cilantro Thai from a local Facebook Group who recommended $6 daily special and order directly from the website. I did exactly that. With the dish being only $6, we ordered one of each. My only favorite is Tom Yum Noodle Soup with ground chicken. All the other dish are just mediocre so if you're a fan of Pad Thai and you like it in particular style, this may not be it for you. I love the price, flavor, and quantity of the food, more specifically with Tom Yum Noodle Soup. We did pick up during phase 3 of Covid-19 situation. For the curries, there is the choice from no spice to spicy. I selected no spice but the order I received had so much spice my mouth is still burning and my nose is still running an hour after just tasting it. I am a single mom and I have three jobs and two children and do not have time for online complaints but want people like me who spend a lot of time and energy paying for the food we eat to not waste their money the same way I did. There is no other option other than SPICY with this restaurant. When I called the restaurant they just stated that is the way the spices come and there is no other option other than spicy. No apologies or offer... just, "that's the way it is!" We were told when we got there that was special was carryout only although I called on Wednesday to find out the details on the special and was told that we could dine in and have sliced chicken instead of ground. The vegetable potstickers, pad see ew, basil fried rice, fresh spring rolls, and crazy noodle are our faves! Something has changed recently with their delivery, however! (They're on all the apps. but they deliver themselves.) We've never had an issue getting our order in a timely manner until the last 2 months--twice in a row our order has taken 2+ hours and multiple calls to the restaurant before being delivered. I decided to try a new Thai place in our neighborhood. I find that Thai food in our neighborhood is not that great. I used to be able to find good Thai places in the area, but these past few years, they have all been disappointing and this one was the same. We ordered it as takeout and when we opened the containers, there were barely anything. There were more sauce and veggies than the actual entree itself. We ordered green curry, and a duck entree. Both were good, but not enough to eat. The green curry was flavorful and was spicy, but I wish they put more meat in there. There were about half as much as veggies as there were meat. The curry sauce was a lot that I covered all of the ingredients that I had to dig into it to scoop up the meat and veggies. After eating all the stuff in the curry, I had so much curry sauce left that I made another meal out of it by reusing the curry left over. read more

This is mainly a warning about their spice level. If you like your food atomic hot, maybe this is for you. I got the chicken pad Thai. You can get "No spice, mild, med, hot, spicy hot". I've had the no-spice and it just didn't have any flavor at all. So this time, I debated between mild or medium. I went medium. For me, on a scale of 1-10, it took it to a spice level of 15. After three bites, I was drinking two glasses of milk, tongue on fire, lips numb. All my friends tried, who love very spicy things, and they all agreed, after a bite or two, on fire. I tried adding sugar and some coconut milk to calm it down. After a few more attempted bites, I had to throw it away. And first time ever having this happen, had to call in sick to work today. Taken out and eaten in a number of times and I'm super impressed with this place. The Green Curry is amazing - especially with the catfish. I'm usually partial to Panang Curry - which is also totally good here, especially with the crispy noodles - but the Green Curry was just some next level execution. Another gem: the Bamee BBQ Pork noodle dish. The massive amount of pork (ground and bbq) is super well-balanced by all the green onion, baby bock choy, and bean sprouts. Really rich and satisfying in the extreme. Last point, they have a really enjoyable, homey patio space in the back that's screaming perfection in the summer with a bottle of wine. I'm staying close by with my 15 yr old foodie son. We ordered twice in one week. He got the orange chicken which he inhaled. Spicy basil chicken puffs were another winner for him. I got the crispy pork belly with garlic which was good but just a tad too salty for me. I also got the spicy eggplant and mushroom which was very good. Tonight I got the tamarind shrimp which was so good. It was not too sweet and the batter was nice and crunchy.I also got the crispy rice salad which is spicy, sour and just the right amount of salty from the sausage. Not so great. Ordered a delivery, I live 8 blocks away. Food was suppose to be here in an hour. Over an hour after I ordered, I called them to check in my food. I was told that they were out of something but food just left and should be here soon. Restaurant is less than a mile away. Food arrived an hour and 40 min after I ordered. Delivery man was very sweet. However food was Luke warm, I had to heat it up in the microwave, and the bag with food had so many sharp staples sticking out of it, that I got a long cut on my hand when I was taking the food out. One mixed vegetable entree was not bad. Side of noodles that came with it was tiny!!! Pad Thai was mediocre, overly oily, lacking flavor, but I couldn't eat the rest of it after I found onion peels in it, dry crispy onion skin. I'm very disappointed. Cilantro, like most Thai restaurants I've been in and out of, is yet another reasonably clean establishment with reasonable service and reasonable food. It seems to receive equal measures of customers dining in as ones placing orders out, so I assume the business functions well on both ends. That being said, unfortunately the one time I stopped by, I was in a bit of a rush so I had no time to thoroughly consider the whole variety of options before me, so I went in, sat down, and quickly ordered a pad siew. It was promptly brought to me- no doubt because the vegetables included with it were a variety of frozen, bag-type sides (such as your typical peas, green beans, and so forth)- but the noodles were cooked in a sauce that wasn't heavy at all, much to my surprise- and a much appreciated surprise too since I don't care for the sweeter variety of sauces. So basically, it wasn't a bad dish at all, but since it was a very basic food item and I've yet to judge something more complex (or more traditionally Thai for that matter, if such items are available here), for now I'll deem the place so-so. Ordered delivery today via grubhub. They were super quick and arrived only 25 min after I ordered (which was 35 min earlier than what was quoted ). I had the papaya salad and red curry with chicken. They had great serving sizes for the price! The papaya salad is super fresh and well balanced- I just wish it was a bit spicier, but I was able to add my own chilis and then it was perfect. When i opened my food I was disappointed to see that the portions were extremely small especially after paying $10.95 for beef pad see ewe lunch special. I've never gone to a Thai restaurant with this small of a portion. It was highly unsatisfying. The food was for the most part flavorful but I wasn't too keen of the Tom yum soup.
