So where do you even start when it comes to narrowing down who you want to hire for your big day? We went about finding our wedding photographer (Jenna) through a social media group called the Chicago Toasters. It's a private group with over 10K local women that's an open forum for asking questions, getting recommendations, etc. I decided to browse old post threads within this group where other women that were getting married were asking for photographer recommendations in the Chicagoland area for their wedding. I made note of all the photographers that got recommended several times, and Jenna was one of them! From there, we contacted Jenna and the rest is history. And let me tell you, we are SO glad we chose Jenna to work with - She is AMAZING in all ways. -She is fun, friendly and she makes you feel at ease immediately -Her photography style is beautiful, light and airy -She is assertive -She is great with her communication and provided so many great resources and professional guidance throughout the entire process On the day of our wedding, the Chicago lights festival parade was also happening. We planned to take bridal party pictures by the Wrigley Building, and when we arrived we were getting asked to leave by the police. Jenna worked her magic and was able to convince them to let us use the space for 20 minutes - Jenna and her assistance captured SO MANY great photos within this short period of time and worked so well under pressure! We both agreed that Keren was the best value- $3500 for 8 hours of coverage with a second photographer, a one hour engagement session, copies of all the high resolution images with printing rights, and a 10x10 heirloom album. Additionally, she made us feel very comfortable, was incredibly thoughtful, and we loved her work. When we first met with her, she was incredibly professional- she had a personalized bridal box us with different pamphlets detailing her prices, as well as tips for good engagement pictures and a list of her recommended vendors. Keren goes above and beyond to care for her brides and even has a private facebook group for her bridal clients so we can source suggestions and advice from each other. After we booked her for the wedding, she sent us a small token of appreciation, which I thought was so sweet! At both the engagement session and the day of the wedding, Keren was very organized and gave good directions on how to pose without being overbearing or demanding. This was particularly useful when we took several formal family portraits with over 20 people. She was patient and creative, and open to shooting a few favorite poses I had found on Pinterest. Throughout the ceremony and reception, she and her second shooter were both respectful and unobtrusive. I think the only time I noticed them was during the first dance, yet they managed to capture everything!! It was really nice to be entirely focused on the moment and not distracted by anything else, even when the entire moment is captured on film. One thing that impressed me most about Keren is how detail oriented she is. Prior to the wedding day, she had us fill out a comprehensive 4 page questionnaire that helped me to think through the whole schedule and logistics, as well as confirm all shots we wanted (and family members to be in each shot). She coordinated with the DJ to make sure everything like the first dance and garter toss happened on time and that they didn't miss anything. Keren's second shooter is usually a woman named Erica, who also happens to be one of her close friends. Between the two of them there is a natural chemistry and flow to their process that helped the entire day go smoothly. They were adept at dividing and conquering, while also capturing moments from both perspectives. They were both a pleasure to work with and I was so happy we chose KSP!

We had a venue booked, and a date, and that was about it - we didn't really know what else we were doing. When Gail asked what time we needed her to arrive on our wedding day, we had no idea. Of course, Gail is so accustomed to weddings that she ended up planning our day-of schedule for us in order to figure out when she needed to arrive. So, we got some wedding planning help as an added bonus. Gail takes beautiful, non-gimmicky, photojournalistic wedding photos. My sweetheart is not a person who loves a camera, but Gail made him feel at ease, and even got him to smile for a few pictures. Gail is unobtrusive, which was very important because we got married in a small side room at a restaurant which was a tight squeeze already. Gail didn't get in the way at all, she was like a photo-ninja and took outstanding photos without me even noticing that she was taking them. Gail alerted us that she would take a little longer than usual on editing and sending us our photos because of a planned trip. Even though she gave us a heads-up on the timing issue, she still offered us a photo print credit for the delay. It was a simple process to get a convenient time for our portrait date. Jeff worked with me and my wife to suggest a good outfit and nice look for our 3 very young children and ourselves so that we would look and feel our best. Jeff posed us in a comfortable, fun way for at least 4 different styles or looks during the portrait session. Our children were ages 5, 3, and 1 at the time so it was kind of crazy with the kids but Jeff made it easy, stress-free, fun, and gave us all a great look. The guy is great with children and works seamlessly with each family to make it personalized and professional. The pictures look awesome. He captured dozens of great photos!! Now that we have 4 children we need to go back to Studio West and take pictures of our children again since they are older and look different.
