Made me take off my fucking belt to wand me when I had on pants that don't fit right because I lost over 100 pounds. No place has ever MADE me do that before, everywhere else just wands over my belt to make sure it sets off and then wands the rest of me. The Cincinnati Reds are one of the best teams in baseball. Maybe not Yankees best or even Cardinals-Athletics-Red Sox-Giants best, but they're up there. The Reds have won more World Series championships (5) than 22 of the 30 active teams in Major League Baseball today. Also, the Reds consistently win. In both the regular season and postseason, Cincinnati is a top-10 all-time winningest team in MLB. The Reds have been winning for a long time too, since 1882. Only the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs have played longer in MLB (since 1876 for each). And unlike my favorite team, the Braves, the Reds organization has never moved. They've always been in Cincy. If I was rating this team on Yelp in the late 70s, I would've given them five stars. In a seven year span, from 1970 through 1976, the Reds advanced to the World Series four times, winning back-to-back titles in 1975 and 1976. The two biggest names in "The Big Red Machine" were the infamous Pete Rose and 14-time All-Star Johnny Bench. Both Rose and Bench started their MLB careers in Cincinnati. Both won the National League Rookie of the Year award - Rose in 1963 and Bench, five years later, in 1968 - and both won multiple MVP awards. Rose was the NL MVP in 1973 and the World Series MVP in 1975. Bench won the NL MVP award twice, in 1970 and 1972, and was the World Series MVP in 1976. Bench was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Rose was banned. Since the consecutive World Series wins in '75 and '76, Reds playoff appearances have been few and far between. Those appearances have been highlighted by the 1990 championship team which went wire-to-wire 1st place in the NL West division and 8-2 in the postseason. As a Braves fan, I have to point out that the year Larkin won MVP was the same year that the Braves swept the Reds, 4-0, in the NLCS. Atlanta would go on to win the '95 World Series. Less than impressed with Reds staff. My husband had someone spit tobacco off the upper deck and land on his shoulder (so disgusting). I asked staff to please remedy the situation, so the person didn't continue spitting on us. I got passed to 3 different people, none of who seemed to care and the last "Supervisor " basically grunted at me and said he'd call someone. Since it's the Reds, it's not a sold out game by any means, they could have at least offered to move us. So unimpressed, no level of professionalism anywhere in the stadium. Who doesn't love a day at the ballpark? I've been to many games here and have always enjoyed myself. As far as stadiums go it's easy to navigate and park. It doesn't take forever to enter or exit like in other major city stadiums. And while concession prices at stadiums tend to be outrageous, here at The Reds stadium, while prices are still higher, its not as bad as one would think. I got a delicious Hot Mett dog with all the fixings for $7.99, a waffle cone with toppings for $5.99, and a Peach frose from Walt's Outpost on the main concourse for $10 (which was DIVINE). I feel like getting all that for under $25 at a stadium is not as unreasonable as it could be for a day out at the ballpark. The park staff tend to be welcoming, friendly and helpful. The stadium is amazing, the franchise itself is one of the most iconic baseball teams of all time and the fans in Cincinnati deserve a winner but in the words of the owners son "where you gonna go"? After running the 20th annual Flying Pig Marathon, and my first full, somehow, someone thought it was a great idea for the marathoners to walk the stadium perimeter - haha when I first heard that I laughed, since I was definitely not looking forward to hobbling my sore and broken body around hot baseball players... But, I did it, and I'm so glad. I'm a Dodger fan - I'm sorry, but I am - since I'm from Los Angeles... BUT. That being said, it's a GORGEOUS field and stadium. The whole experience was one I wouldn't have ever missed out on and I'm glad to say I brought back some Reds memorabilia - the Flying Pig bobblehead, and a Cincinnati t-shirt. The minute fans turn the curve of 71 S at exit 2, the skyline of Cincinnati slaps them in the face and welcomes them to a beautiful piece of Heaven. Set just the other side of town just before the river, is the newly constructed stadium that the Cincinnati Reds call home. No other fans are more supportive. From year to year, we are all hopeful that our team will bring us the big win. The new stadium (not really new anymore, but is new to a lot of fans) is amazing- it's like no other. Food wise, expect more than just a ballpark hotdog and soda. Expect BBQ, pizza, Bob Evan's, Penn Station and more. Drink soda, alcoholic beverages, juices and others. Enjoy ice cream, candy, pretzels, popcorn - but most importantly peanuts. Anything you could imagine, you can find here. The Cincinnati Reds makes every attempt to keep the games a family event by engaging the children in activities throughout the games. From a kids' play center, batting area, show entertainment and special game events, it's the perfect place for the little ones to the oldest fans. Parking used to be the biggest issue of going to one of the games. With expensive lot and garage parking, fans used to come extremely early to find available street parking. But, now, with the new stadium, the Reds has their own garage right under the stadium for a reasonable rate- making it so easy to maneuver around the stadium and find the perfect seat for the game. I was never a fan of any of my hometown teams, before moving to Cincinnati. Not all, but there were lots of fair weather fans. Between that and the teams themselves, I never felt "it." I would say I like baseball, but I don't have a favorite team. Cincinnati has changed this. Cincinnati has such a great energy and love for the Reds that it is easy to fall in love with them. I find myself checking scores after games; something I have never done for other teams. Even the mascots are fun and loveable. While it may be new, I am excited to be and call myself a Reds fan. The team seems to try to connect with and make fans happy. Before the game players were signing things for fans. During a game, I saw several time where the team would toss pop-fly balls into the stadium for fans. A few more wins would be nice. read more

We went to the 2008 Reds Hall of Fame Induction game tonight. Oh yeah, they also beat the New York Mets! A particularly hot, humid night, it was difficult to suffer through the long speeches during the ceremony, but eventually the sun went down and there was a decent breeze most of the night. The fans are generally supportive and it's a great stadium! There are always going to be those who are there for the beer and you just have to put up with that! We had four kids/teens (ages 9 and up) in our group and they seemed to have a good time. read more

Most expensive $$$$$ place I've ever seen for food and drinks, and if you sign up for the Reds Head kids club, don't expect much from the products you get, such as the bobble heads which are basically junk that breaks if you touch it. After opening a bobble head box that comes with the Reds heads membership, the head was broke, took it back and after getting back to my seat, my two year took the new one out the box in which the legs broke off. Got home opening the other in which the legs broke off. I just wonder how many other people have gotten ripped off. Never again reds!! We love Great American Ballpark but the food service this year is a big disappointment! The $1.00 hot dog stand is gone and many of the vendors have trouble communicating in English. We had an out-of-town visitor and were embarrassed when a young Asian vendor misunderstood and mischarged our guest repeatedly...the manager finally handed him an UNCOOKED hot dog. For a frankfurter and a Coke, he was charged $17.25. Later in the game, another of our guests had a similar situation with a different vendor, again, language problem. In the future, we will eat first, out of the park, before the game. read more

What's not to love about the Reds!? These guys do a bang up job of being there for the fans. Before games they'll do autographs and throw some balls to the kids in the stands. During games you'll see players throw foul balls into the stands as well. The stadium atmosphere is always fun, the dj does a good job, you can usually find some freebies in the fan zone, and there's a DOLLAR BOOTH upstairs by section 532 i believe. Dollar hot dogs, small peanuts and a small drinks. Totally worth going upstairs for or walking to. There's a playground and a sandbox area for small children, and they can take a slide down to the batting cages. It's a very family friendly environment. And they do promo giveaways pretty often, just make sure you're there plenty early. read more

One of the neat things about Cincinnati is that it has two major league sports teams: the Bengals and the Reds. Everyone seems to call Cincinnati a "baseball town," but the Reds struggle to fill the stadium at Great American Ball Park, especially when they are not winning. With just over 2 million in the Tri-State, Cincinnati is one of the smallest metro areas to play home to a Major League Baseball team, yet the Reds have a great history and lots of tradition. From their establishment in 1882 to their first of five World Series titles in 1919, and then the Big Red Machine of the 70s to the 1990 "wire-to-wire" performance, there has been a lot for Reds fans to cheer about over the years. Unfortunately, the Reds haven't had a winning season since 2000, and the organization failed to build around future Hall of Fame outfielder Ken Griffey, Junior. The trade deadline is this Thursday, and each year it seems to mark a time when the Reds unload their salary and build for the future. While it hasn't seemed to pay off yet with seven consecutive losing seasons and counting, this year's Reds squad should be giving Cincinnatians hope for the future. The starting pitching staff is the best we've seen in years, and if Aaron Harang can rebound from his poor year, the Reds will be in good shape next season. All-star Edinson Volquez is the ace of the staff right now, and is joined by Harang, and rookie Johnny Cueto. Those three appear to be the future of the staff, while trade-bait Bronson Arroyo has had a great July and has indicated he wants to stay in Cincinnati. Homer Bailey has had some decent outings in his latest stint up from Louisville, while there are other guys in the mix who have showed some promise as well. Offensively, there has long been the debate about trading/keeping/letting go Griffey and Adam Dunn, but there isn't any question about who they should keep. 27-year-old second baseman Brandon Phillips is leading the young talent on the Reds squad with Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, and Jeff Keppinger also showing a lot of promise for future Cincinnati Reds teams. It's hard to build for the future and see the team struggle for 162 games year in and year out, but with Walt Jocketty as the new GM and majority owner Bob Castellini still trying to build a contender, there is reason to be excited about the Reds organization. Hopefully next year will be the year in which the Reds really make a solid run to the postseason because patience is running thin here in the Queen City. read more

I went with my company, gorilla glue, and feel like it was a great atmosphere for a corporate event. Within the last 3 yrs or so they've added soooo many food and bar stations with a great variety of themes that it is definitely n enjoyable experience. The prices are std for a ball park and sometimes even cheaper given the deals and tix w/ beer comps they sometimes offer. I've experienced all seating/tix prices and remain impressed. Anywhere from the "nose bleeds" to the box, party suite, rooftop, corporate meetings(during non game times w tour of stadium), diamond club, club seating,... - IT"S ALL BEEN EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE AND QUALITY. The team is alright and I particularly appreciate, as a non-Cincinnatian, how conscious they are of incorporating "Cincy staples" into the game via: live trivia w/ pulic, videos, promo/offers and just brilliant marketing- good sense of pride is reflected- so cool.The ushers and vendors are very friendly and the areas are clean. And the fact they host such diverse events for charities, doggy days, etc, etc, etc.... Just keeps me raving! So,....take this girl out to the ballgame anytime"! read more

The Reds Stadium is a beautifully done stadium. It's well laid out to handle the large crowds. The food vendors are spot on with plenty of selections, including great craft beer vendors.
