Visited Cinco De Mayo for the first time on Thursday night. We had a reservation but at 6:45 it was fairly empty. We took our seats and decided on our drink orders. It was still happy hour so several had both regular and frozen margaritas. For dinner I had the beef chimichanga...first time having and it was done well with good flavor. A lot of food, way more than someone could eat in one sitting. Another in our group had the tacos el pastor which had a nice presentation and were enjoyed. 2 others had the quesadilla el pastor, also large portions. 1 had a cheese quesadilla and chicken quesadilla. All food came with the usual sides of lettuce, sour cream, and pico. Food was enjoyed by all! Great Mexican food, cool cantina vibes. It got crowded as we were leaving. Definitely looks like a great party spot in the summers and nicer weather. read more

I saw a video on social media referring to this place as a hidden gem so I thought I'd go back and give it another shot after having had a few bad experiences. Parking in this place is tight. I didn't realize that you can park in the driveway, make sure to read the signs if you park on the street. The food was good but the service had many areas that could use improvement. Rather than great us quickly and take our drink order, appetizer and meal orders separately, our server let us wait a long time so we could order everything at one time reducing the amount of times she came to our table. If you order mixed drinks, don't assume they're going to bring you water. You will have to ask and don't expect a refill. We ordered guacamole. I didn't finish the complimentary chips because I suspected they were going to bring out the guacamole without more chips and I wouldn't be able to eat guacamole. When the meal came out before the guacamole, I told the person that brought our meals out that we wanted to cancel the guacamole that we never received. When the guacamole came out after we were already nearly done eating, I let them know we no longer wanted it. Of course when I got my bill, I had to go to the bar and ask for it to be removed from my bill since my server was still missing in action. I thought the vegetable tacos were really good even though the tortillas were greasy and broken. I don't know if I would go so far as to call this place a hidden gem. The food is Ok. My mixed drink was good. My company was good but I brought her with me. If you're in the area, check them out, the food is good and the service is hit or miss. read more

Decided to come here on a whim and I'm glad I checked it out! This place has beautiful decor outside and inside. Once we were seated we were given chips and salsa. Parking: This spot has its own private lot which is nice. It's a medium sized lot it can only fit 10-15 cars max. Price: The food ranges from the $11-30 range. The majority of the entrees are in the $20 range (tacos, burritos, salads). Quality: I had the shrimp salad in a taco bowl. The salad was fresh and the taco shell was easy to eat. I liked it and would definitely get it again! For dessert I tried the churros and they were warm and complemented the ice cream well. Overall I recommend this spot! The staff was very friendly and i enjoyed looking at the beautiful decorations. I do think there are even cheaper options out there but it's worth checking out at least once! read more

Every time we come here the food and drinks are always good. Probably one of the best Mexican restaurant in the area. They always provide chips and salsa which are always fresh. I love nachos and their nachos are always on point. I will say their menus is a bit limited but I don't mind. Definitely worth stopping by, they also have an outdoor patio. read more

Let's talk hidden gems! This place is amazing! From the minute you walk in or even drive up. Maybe I'm wrong, because I'm not exactly a local, but this place is a bit out of the way. (Thus the "hidden" in gem) But from the minute you drive up, (Valet on busy nights) you're greeted with smiles. The host or hostess seated us promptly. Cool murals on the walls lending to what I consider and authentic style. The bar has an Spring outdoor feel. There's a balcony that I want to try, it just looks like it would be cool. The drinks were amazing. We tried the Stawberry Mango Marg and just a Mango Marg. The tableside guac was delicious, we get it mild for the better half. Then we tried the quesadilla, enchilada and Chuleta Mixteca. The Chuleta Mixteca was the star of the show. Again, we had to dumb it down for the better half and ask for it mild, so we got a caramelized onion concoction with sweet peppers. But outside the small adjustment, the pork was... Perfect... I wish I liked this place more. You have to drive down a narrow, hidden path to this house and walk down into what feels like a basement apartment. It opens up into a decent sized dining room. We sat at the bar even though the restaurant only had two other families dining. The man didn't offer his name, but he was kind and pretty attentive, but spent most of his time with the table behind us. The margaritas were good. I had the passion fruit one and my husband had a regular. The salsa was my first red flag m, but I was starving and ate too much of it. The salsa tasted very much like a tomato purée or paste. The queso was the biggest disappointment of the afternoon. Mexican cheese and chorizo - how could you hate it?! It was grainy and the chunks of chorizo could have been regular plain sausage because honestly it had no flavor. The portions are large. The burrito was delicious, but the rice was a strange texture and I just couldn't get into it. My husband said the same thing and that his chimichangas were great. $75 for 2 margaritas, queso and 2 entrees took me by surprise. I didn't realize when we ordered that my beef burrito was $20 and my husband's chimichangas were $18. Unfortunately not worth it for me to return. read more

*deep sigh* so much potential and I went in with high hopes, but this place fell short. I'll stick to food and service for this review. Food: My friend and I tried the chicken quesadilla, beef fajitas and pollo ranchero. For drinks, we ordered the mango margarita and passion fruit margarita. The drinks SAVED this place. Margaritas were delicious and that's where they earned the 3 stars. Quesadillas were ok. And the beef fajitas and pollo ranchero were bland. They needed way more seasoning and the pollo ranchero dish was definitely not worth $20. Service: friendly and courteous staff but super slow. My friend and I ended up waiting a whole 30 minutes after our meal, just to receive the bill. Will I be back?? Probably not. ... found this place by complete mistake- looking for a different Mexican restaurant ! But we were glad we did - even though the entrance is a bit intricate - we finally found our way into the back of what seemed like someone's home- there the friendliest valet greeted us- - felt welcomed as if we had just arrived at a family members home. We ordered drinks and appetizers while our Elizabeth was being walked by the valet guy- - could it get any better?? He suggested the fish and shrimp tacos as we enjoyed our bites but were saving ti for our next visit- we will be returning! Good music, good energy- great service- they even served Elizabeth some water in a dog bowl. PRICELESS!! Overall the ingredients used to make our bites was fresh- nicely seasoned and cooked welll. My BF and I came here today to celebrate a promotion at work but also try out the restaurant because we live really close by. The restaurant was very cute and cozy, there were plenty tables and didn't feel stuffed inside. The music was nice as well. The food was delicious and the drinks were a good size. Our waiter was very polite but since he was the only one working this afternoon apparently it was a little slow in terms of getting drinks but nothing that would steer us away from the place. After two recent disappointing experiences at the newly renovated Hacienda, I was getting fairly desperate for excellent and authentic local Mexican food. Went to Casa Frida with minimal expectations and almost immediately I found myself asking why I hadn't found this hidden (literally) gem a whole hell of a lot sooner. Food was amazing. Churasco was tender and cooked to perfection and their shrimp tacos were so memorable that I will probably order them whenever I return. Drinks were generously poured and delicious. The owner David even took time to come over, say hi and talk a bit about his philosophy how he sources such delicious food, something I really appreciated. It's amazing how many Mexican joints have popped up over the past ten years or so. Used to be that you had to head over to a chain like Casa Maria or El Torito, both long gone. What has replaced them are slightly better chains, long on big drinks, short on good food and service and independents that run the gamut from chain wannabes to excellent an authentic. IMO, Casa Frida represents the latter in the absolute best way possible. If you're looking for amazing Mexican food in a really cool eclectic environment I highly recommend hitting them up ASAP. Nothing and I say nothing about this restaurant is like it used to be. The food is awful, the portions small, the service awful. The prices are very high not close to the value for the quality of the entrees. The proteins in our flautas and tacos were practically invisible. The rice was mediocre. Our server was nowhere to be found, never returned to see if anything was needed. The margaritas were weak and tasted nothing like they once did. We called the restaurant and they admitted they had a "substitute cook" they had never used that night. My family and I used to dine at Cinco De Mayo regularly but stopped over COVID. After a long hiatus, we returned last night and were pleasantly surprised that things have improved since our absence. The service was great, but the food quality- while always very good- has improved. Our meal started with really great salsa, guacamole, chips and frozen drinks. My Quesadilla Al Pastor was excellent, with a sweet & savory taste in every bite. My wife's Enchiladas De Pollo Verde was light, tangy and beautifully presented. My son ordered a simple Beef Quesadilla that had a rich, smoky flavor. The best surprise was Cinco has added valet parking. Their lot usually fills up quickly, so it was great to have someone park our car so we could go straight to dinner and not have to wait for a spot. The attendant was a charming gentleman who really made coming & going a pleasure. Our dining experience was greatly enhanced by all the improvements made and we're looking forward to being regulars again at Cinco De Mayo. Well done! read more

Great place for Mexican food, i highly recommend it. Food: Within the few times i've been here i have tried the burritos, tacos, guac and a few other plates. all have been really good. You can tell they use quality ingredients and everything tastes very good. I think I'm most impressed with the fact the food is not greasy or anything - i do appreciate the fact you get what you pay for here. I think my favorite is the salsa and chips you get when you first sit down, the salsa is fantastic. Service: This place is always packed especially on the weekends. Make a reservation. Typically the service is pretty great although last night they screwed up a few things or just didn't bring some items out to the table which caused us to have to ask multiple times. They are BACK to being Cinco De Mayo, and we couldn't be happier. Original cocktail recipes are back (the drinks at Casa Frida just weren't the same) and when you come in the staff treats you like family. Food was great- made-to-order guac, a chicken burrito, and a spicy steak special (I forget the name of the dish, but it was a super tender NY strip) made for a wonderful dinner.
