Cheeseburger was really good with quality meat, and we were able to upgrade our fries to poutine which was awesome of the kitchen to allow us to do! Stopped by the barn for drinks and appetizers. It's an interesting looking place with a nice casual vibe. I got a beer and my friend got wine. We split two appetizers, friend pickles and Philly cheesesteak rolls. The fried pickles were a little batter heavy but I enjoyed the sauce they came with. The Philly cheesesteak rolls were on the specials and they were crispy and came with a nice chipotle dipping sauce. I was a little bit between a 3 and a 4 but just felt it was average with average service. I would come back to try burgers or something they are more known for. read more

Very cool hometown vibe. The restaurant is really an old barn so rustic wood beams and hard seats. Service was good even though every seat in the place was filled. The service and the atmosphere were great. The old bar is very cool. We decided to have dinner and always have to try out the French onion soup when we try a new place. This is a great neighborhood find! It was an old barn, that has been a restaurant for quite some time. It is nothing fancy,very casual but they do have valet parking. It is like eating inside a barn. Everything is wood inside. I don't believe they take reservations. The two of us arrived on a Friday night right before 5:30 and we were seated right away. However, by the time we left at 6:45 the entire bar and every table in the place was full and there was a line out the door. We came to try the ribs and we thought they were really good. However, my husband's was cooked perfectly and mine was a little bit burnt, but I still really enjoyed them. The sangria was excellent and I'm not a huge fan of sangria. We can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu. Everything that each table was getting around us looked delicious. The staff was friendly and checked on us after we received our food. Been going to the Barn since I was a kid. Once I moved it's been about 25 years since I've been there, but returned now that my son is in the area for college. It is still just as good as ever. They are known as one of the best places to grab a burger and that is still the case. Burgers are juicy with great flavor. My kids had chicken sandwiches which they gave two thumbs up. Service was tremendous! Looks like a stop we will be returning to a lot. read more

Go here for a drink, the ribs or to get the loaded potato skins, and I keep coming back to the filet tips over mashed. Kids liked the mac and cheese. Maybe the steak could use more salt to be raised a star in my honest opinion...the crave ability factor that I seek in food is missing. The bar is always on point. The owner is always there which I think is the secret to success. I'd also love to see a special that becomes my new go to but I feel like this is a a great place for you burger lovers that want to be taken back to another time. Losing a loyal customer over a $10 dispute reflects poorly on the business's decision-making process. In conclusion, while The Barn may excel in food quality and service, the experience was marred by unjustified charges and an owner who lacks the finesse of customer communication. After not being here for many years we decided to go for a beer and a burger. Love the inside and the people working there. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. The food is good but nothing to write home about. Burgers are solid and French onion soup was good. Sandras pulled pork was good but way to much sauce on it. The Barn is somewhat tricky to find as there is no sign out on the street. The space is cool - a very rustic historic barn. Unique wooden bar. Would like to go back when the vintage pot belly stoves are going. Although the charm is somewhat deluded upon arrival with a shoddy looking smoking tent (I believe). Food is average. Mozzarella sticks and wings were fine. Fresh potato chips were good but needed salt. Burgers - fine. Salad with chicken - fine. Ribs - fine. Draft beer selection was a bit too crafty for me but beers were good and cold. Service followed suit - was fine. Bottom line, the cool building helps compensate for the average food so worth checking out. read more

We made a reservation later in yesterday for 8 pm, large party of 16, with 6 kids! They were so accommodating! We had our own room! The staff is amazing from the valet to the owner! This was my first time there & we can't wait to go back! You can tell all of the food is made fresh! Large portions & delicious! Our waitress Rebecca was on point! The Barn is located on Sicomac Ave and there are white lights trimming tress and flag pole at end of driveway. The ambiance is quaint...an authentic barn with a low beam as you enter and wooden tables and a few stalls. The service is good, servers are pleasant and attentive. The food however leaves a lot to be desired. Salads are very basic, the vegetable burger is not house made, the fries were of a small portion and I believe them fried in old oil. This was my second time at The Barn. I don't remember the first time from decades ago. It was a Sunday at 4:15pm and already "crowded" for having just opened. The staff was helpful and super friendly. I ordered the Barn Burger which came with fries. I enjoyed my meal while watching the Jets game and listening to all 80's tunes. Worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Our waitress was very nice, but the owner is probably one of the rudest people I've ever met. I guess he must be a very unhappy person and takes it out on his customers. I arrived for dinner with 6 people. 4 of us had arrived and the other 2 were a few minutes away. Owner kept yelling at us about not being seated until all 6 arrived. Ok, we get it. Food was mediocre at best. The 6 of us go out to dinner several times a week, sometimes 8 or 10 of us and we have better meals everywhere else we go. When the waitress came over at the end of our meal, she asked if anyone needed a to go box and saw that one of us had only eaten half her meal. She asked about it and my friend said, it's fine, it was just a little burnt. She didn't want to complain, so she just ate the unburnt parts. We thought that was the end of it. Owner comes over and says, I took your meal off the bill (which we never asked him to do) and he proceeded to say "I see you had no trouble eating 1/2 of it". What restaurant owner does this? I guess one that hates his customers. We never asked him to take anything off the bill and he should have stayed out of it. Please spend your money elsewhere. The food isn't good and you take the chance of being berated by the owner for no reason because he's just a mean person and I guess yelling at people makes him feel good. Read the reviews please before you waste your time here. Even if they take money off your bill for bad meals (read reviews on how many meals are sent back) this place is not worth being treated poorly. Service was ok.... but having park valet was a bit cookoo .... wasn't clear as to why you couldn't park yourself but a true gent came out and explained. This was one of the more interesting experiences I've had. So strap in: First off allow me to say that the atmosphere in this place is incredibly cool. I love the look, love the feel, and love the vibe it produces. Finding the place was tough, as the lack of light on a rainy night caused me to miss my turn the first time thinking this was a res The valet was an interesting touch which confused me a bit but the gentlemen running it were incredibly polite. Our waitress was also incredibly sweet. Now onto the food, and where the stars came off, The Christmas Cocktails were good, the Let it Snow was warm and delicious. The nachos were pretty average. It was an "end of the Tostitos bag" chips with a mound of salsa, sour cream, guac, and "taco meat" (albeit the meat was hard to find and seemed absent. The peppers and mozzarella appetizer was pretty nice but the balsamic war crime served with it was downright disgusting (seriously as an Italian that "balsamic" was sacrilege). The ribs were pricey at $31.25 but since they were "famous" I decided to give them a go. The sauce was nice and thick and the ribs were very tender and flavorful, but they don't justify the $31 price tag. They're more mid-$20 ribs if anything. The onion rings served on them were crisp and had a delicious flavor but the fries were bland and unappetizing. Overall the entire staff, from the valets to the host to the server were wonderful and the atmosphere was something special, I just wish some of the food was a little better for the price point but I'd definitely come back for a burger or sandwich sometime. read more

We have been coming here for years. We moved to South Carolina and this is our go to when we visit NJ. I have to say food was OK. The service was subpar. We waited 15 minutes before anybody even came over to ask us for a drink order and that was after we summoned somebody. Our server never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks.
