I was in Tucson this weekend for a wedding that I knew wasn't formal...more on the informal side....but I still had nothing to wear and I always like to look my best. My cousin was holding the Chupah for the wedding, so she wanted to wear something extremely flattering as well, since everybody would see her. She shops at Clique all the time and we both needed dresses...so lets start the fun! The clothing in the store was not overly priced and everything that they had was flattering to a girl/woman's body. I could have walked away with the whole store...but then I remembered that I was very poor...:) Also, I have to say that for somebody who can NEVER find anything on a sales rack...I picked up 2 shirts and an adorable skirt. They were close to being the best for business clothing and higher end dresses. Now, it is the "good little girl, grown old" feel to all of their products, with little ruffles around the neck and skirts that look made of domestic table cloth fabric. Well, I may older, but I am still a woman in the 21st Century. I now realize that there are better brick and mortar stores, with nice, more up to date clothing and along with that, better pricing than Talbots--and I am not speaking of Amazon or sweat shop garbage. Talbots has taken our loyalty and good taste, thrown it in the dumpster when they should be throwing out their horrendous sale merchandise that sits on their web site forever. As for the stores, don't blame them. They are representing the company to the best of their ability and are usually quite kind and well intended in their efforts.

There is usually someone who will offer to start a dressing room for you which is helpful. Their sizes are different than most places, going from 0 to 4 with sometimes there being a .5 at the end of the number. For someone not familiar with their clothes, it is helpful to know how the size compares to typical sizes. They usually have things on sale in a marked area by size and color. Those not on sale are divided by color typically. In the rear of the store are the clothes called energy which are more casual and I really like them a lot. In the rest of the store, it is the Chicos name. I often find something there I can't live without and unfortunately, not always on sale. The quality is very good and they last for a long time. I'll continue to go back every now and then. It is worth it to me.

Yes, a sales clerk kept close tabs on me and offered to put the first couple of things I picked up in a dressing room. I was happy to let her do that. Three hours--that's not a typo--later, I left with numerous items of clothing: long pants, t-shirts that beat any t-shirts I had bought elsewhere, a couple of other things--and a sales slip with a total that showed a little under $600. I almost gasped! But my wardrobe was sadly depleted, I was older with a body that was changing, I needed the clothes, and (thankfully) we could afford the haul. I was pleased with the quality of the clothes; mostly, I was exhausted! I had planned to drive clear across town to a different shopping mall. But I was about to pass the Crossroads Festival strip mall, saw the Eileen's name, and decided, "This time, I'm going in there!" I was so glad I had!

I went in on 9/6 around 3:00 PM to return an item from a mobile order. The item was NOT a final…read moresale when I purchased it, and the return policy stated that mobile orders could be returned within 40 days. My last day to return it was 9/7, so I was well within the return window. I had received a return barcode by email specifically to process the return. When I showed the store manager my online order, she acknowledged that the item was not a final sale when I purchased it. However, she still refused to scan the return barcode or process the return and told me to call Nordstrom. I contacted Nordstrom Customer Service afterward, and they confirmed that the store should have accepted the return and said they were unsure why the manager refused it. The manager identified herself by a name that sounded like "Losario" or "Rosario" (I'm not certain of the spelling), so I hope management can identify who was working at that time. What makes this especially frustrating is that she had the opportunity to verify the purchase information, acknowledged that the item was not final sale when purchased, and still refused to process a return that was within the stated return window and had a valid return barcode issued by Nordstrom. If the store manager is not properly trained on Nordstrom's return policy, that is a serious issue. Customers should not have to leave the store and call Customer Service to be told that their return should have been accepted. Very disappointing customer service and a frustrating experience.

I came back an hour and a half later, also known as twice the quoted wait time and they hadn't even started going through my items. Not delayed... not running behind... completely untouched. To make things worse, I had groceries sitting in my truck, so it's not like I could just wait around another 20+ minutes while they finally got to it. When I asked what was going on, the manager said they had a "rush" and their computers went down, which honestly just felt like a cop-out. If you're that backed up, be upfront instead, contact the people waiting on you but of instead you're just wasting their time. What really pushed it over the edge was the manager's response. When I pointed out that it didn't seem like anyone cared enough to fix the situation, she told me I was "coming at her." But if acknowledging that nothing was being done to make it right counts as "coming at you," then yes, that's exactly what I was doing. Because from my perspective, there was zero effort to take responsibility or offer any kind of solution. The whole experience felt disorganized and dismissive. If you're going to take people's items and give them a timeframe, the least you can do is respect it, or communicate when you can't. Instead, it was a complete waste of time with no accountability. I won't be back.
